  1. Does everyone tend to go for 'skinny' straps or are capped sleeves deemed ok? DD has a beautiful one she loves but it has small sleeves.
  2. Spoke to the lady there. Apparently this is aimed at School trips not individuals :/
  3. There's vocational college coming to the Hampshire/Berkshire border for 16+ that I just know will be phenomenal- details aren't out yet but I'll post on forum when I have more info. I know exactly what you mean about being space in the market down here.
  4. The one DD did last was just in the studios at Markova House. If they got to go on a big stage that would out weigh the lack of challenge I'm sure lol
  5. LoL we didn't ask BME... Actually that's not strictly true thinking back... I'd forgotten she's done 2, just found the email lol. We asked the first time. Where she would have been a yr younger but her grades were higher than normal. He agreed to put her in the next age group, but they were much younger. 5 to 7 I think but she was studying grade 1 and 2 already. This last one we didn't ask, based on someone else I knew just booking her JA DS in the 11+ class age 10
  6. Just about to take her grade 4 (rad) She's recently turned 10 Last one she did we signed up for the 11-14yr old class for that reason :/
  7. Hi all, After some feedback on the youth ballet workshops. DD did one a couple of years ago and found it, erm... not very challenging. I'm wondering if they get more challenging as the attendees get older, or if, as anyone can do them, they still are aimed at 'non career aspiring' (for want of a better description) children. Thanks an advance
  8. A quick and easy cheap recipe to share that my DD loves is mince (buy cheap and drain off excess fat as cooking), boil up a load of broccoli. Cook lots of brown rice. Mix the broc in with the mince and a jar of Oyster sauce (not cheap but this will make asst least 4 meals for 1 dancer) Drain the rice and make egg fried rice. Serve. Loads of iron and goodness in this and so easy. It's my fall back for rushed / hectic dance days
  9. I've been known on 2 occasions to be sat on the floor under my desk at work sewing...
  10. As I understand from DD and her friend in the same class via her mum, they were up in the very end on their toes in ballet flats. I admit I didn't ask what they were doing exercise wise other than they were holding the bare.
  11. My DD recently did the week at NKSS in Rambert Studios in Southbank. She really enjoyed her entire time there despite 2 of the teachers requiring translators. I think that added to the whole experience for her. She really loved Natalia Kremen and the couple of the male teachers. Interesting as she has never been taught by males before. There was a mix of classes and teachers. The only concern I had (that she didn't) was when she reported back to me she had done a whole class En Pointe... in ballet flats as she isn't in pointe shoes yet. (the whole class was in same situ). It was apparently great fun and perfectly fine as they were all holding the barre! I'm not overly convinced this was a good thing but I am not dance trained at all. The class demo on the Saturday showed how hard all the dancers had worked that week and some of the seniors REALLY stood out - I couldn't take my eyes off one particular dancer LOL We would definitely look to do this one again.
  12. Can anyone remember roughly when the applications went live last year for lower schools? Only date I can find in thread was Sept 7th 2015 for RB F/T training.
  13. Oooo I've never had that issue with lights before. I'll watch out for that But yes, definitely VERY steep.
  14. We use the Mayflower a lot. Front row of dress circle good, or even balcony which is often lots cheaper (so can visit more often!) And is great for views. Row B is front, not A, due to safety) Allow a lit of extra time if football is on as it's chaos in town. Really recommend La Traveatta (that's so not spelt right lol) little Italian near by.
  15. A friend of mine suggested soaking in bowl of water / bicarb of soda... I've never tried it tho.
  16. does anyone know what the dates are from Sept and how late you can apply? DD is currently at Tring CBA and I'm trying to find out it there is a clash or if it would fit in nicely... and yes I have spoken to them and was unhelpfully told they don't have the dates for non members yet...
  17. For those of you that get NO's - don't despair, bounce back! DD got a 'no' letter year before last, went back the year later purely for the experience of the class and surprised us all when she got a yes plus the offer of a SWL place for CG.
  18. Can I ask a related question... when we come to fill our forms in (assuming we still go down this route), do we say DD is: RB JAs / Tring CBA / local school details or just one of them? and if so, which one? do the forms ask if you are an associate anywhere? Thanks,
  19. PV - i think there was so many missing the assessment day D said they would probably all get assessed 'properly' which is fab x
  20. Got in last night to our letter... DD got a yes with residential - she is super excited - i am super shocked LOL
  21. Any more news out there? I have heard of a 'no' as well of reserves, and yes, so to answer an earlier question, clearly not all that got finals get on the reserve list as a minimum also I also know of people at the start and end of the alphabet with results... however it could be done on audition number??
  22. Reserve isn't a no PV! Fingers crossed x We also have 2nd class stamps so no news here.
