  1. Thanks Glissade & Amos - I was fairly sure she'd miss-understood! but could understand her concern too. keeping track of your results too i'm excited and nervous for you all
  2. I wonder if they tend to take older ones for SS then - to assess them for WL? I was told at the weekend a friend was told by her RB JA teacher that you cant just audition for MAs, you have to audition for WL & MAs or just WL - can someone confirm if this is true? Her daughter doesnt want to go away to school, but would love to try for MAs but isnt sure what to do now.
  3. Oooo thank you - at least with it being a post result there's not the 'refresh... refresh... refresh... refresh...'
  4. Does anyone know if we have to wait for all the prelim audition days to finish before hearing results, or if we find out sooner, as in an audition dayat a time?
  5. what time is your DD in? We're on our way. So far traffic has been ok.
  6. When we saw the yr9s dance just before Christmas one girl was introduced as having just started in Sept so I'm guessing the answer is 1...
  7. Great post!! will make a list of all the books mentioned but not yet read My DD is currently reading (and loving) Carlos Acosta's recent book (forget its name, sorry!) and highly rated 'Mao's last dancer' which i also loved.
  8. Thanks all Exciting just to even be there. We're totally relaxed about the whole thing and really just going for the experience. Anything more extra bonus.
  9. DD is 9 - she's in the 10am group - think we will need an early night on Sat LOL how old is yours?
  10. Hi, Just wondered in anyone else was doing the NYB auditions this year? DD has her audition slot on 31st and is very excited about the experience. Any pointers of tips would be appreciated. She's done the EYB so i'm assuming the audition process will be similar to that - lots and lots of kids in rows, front row moving to the back after each exercise? There's no "wear this" instructions, so again assuming basic leotard and socks and shoes, not tights? Thanks in advance
  11. I can see the benefit but can't even visualise what it would look like :/
  12. i know this is an old thread but they are auditioning again and DD wants to apply. I'm not sure about it and wondered if anyone knows how long they are in the cast for, how many shows they have to do etc before we enter into even trying thanks all x
  13. LOL surely you must miss the lovely long Q in that Costa Amos
  14. reading this with interest as DD is booked in yet again for a sports therapist assessment - other foot to last year - suspected stress fracture by dance teachers, yet saw minior injuries clinic last night who said no, just a pulled ligament / tendon / muscle and to carry on as normal (depsite not being able to weight bear on that foot properly) :/ As a result we have just started thinking about getting private cover but didnt know where to start.
  15. Thank you !! couldnt see that on my small phone screen LOL Sadly we wont see Lauretta this time by the looks of it.
  16. How do you find out who is in which performance before getting there? Off to see them on 28th Oct at the Mayflower and i'd love to see Lauretta as followed her progress as a friend of mine knows her.
  17. Hi all on this lovely sunny morning, Weve just sadly found out that the lady we've been visiting every few months for dance related injuries / sports massage has closed up and moved away As such i'm after some recommendations for the north Hampshire / Berkshire area please. Thanks in advance SDM
  18. Does anyone know what size prints the photographs should be and when it says passport photo do they mean an actual 'passport photo' as in not smiling etc or just a passport sized photo of head and shoulders? Thanks
  19. Snowflake - for school shoes DD thankfully likes lace up so she just ties them really tight. Trainers are a pain tho as even if they fit, they look ridiculous :/ I'll keep you posted
  20. Snowflake - is your DD a RB JA? Just wondering if we can get away with wearing satin Thanks everyone! Will order a few of the suggested ones to try and worst case go try ones in London later this month
  21. We had 'exactly' that issue. Moved schools earlier this year after seeking independent advice, and DD has really come out of herself. I didn't really realise how quiet the old school was making her until we moved. Do it and don't look back.
  22. Thanks everyone. It's the leather we need and have the problem with. Jade - do you not find the elastic doesn't stay tied? That's the experience we've had I. past but they were canvas shoes. BM1979 - thanks!! is that the lady that was at eyb? If so I have her details still. We're at ROH at end of Oct so might be a trip to Bloch / Capezio etc after Never knew buying flats could be so complicated :/
  23. Wondering if anyone can reccomend some really narrow flats. DD has only C width feet, but size 3.5 and we're really struggling to get full sole leather shoes to fit. Her split soles and satin are fine but we were told last Friday her leather flats ( which are req'd for class) are 'just awful' - not online ordered, we had them fitted at a shop (which I won't name). If need be we'll make the trek to London but I'm guessing someone on here has had the same problem
