  1. Ah OK thanks Balletmum. Will keep eyes open early next year for the date in June then, assuming she is a no this time lol
  2. There were 26 in group 1 and looked about same number of names in the other two groups. DD is 8. Hoping it will be quick. Someone mentioned that this audition was a mid year so won't be many spaces. When do they normally audition then? X
  3. DD loved the exp this morning. Does anyone know when we are likely to know and how many spaces were available for today's audition.
  4. Just back home from the audition and thrilled to say DD got placed - she is super excited lol
  5. personally I found the adjudication weird. watched a song and dance section where 2nd place went to someone I could hardly hear and had little expression. The three is earmarked weren't placed (I'm normally quite good a getting at least two of the top three) one of the groups I saw placed were also imho below the others but they got placed. However in some of the other sections I watched I was spot on so was very confused. Didn't like the venue at all. plus point - loved the idea of the action photographer what about you Lilac? Roll on Kingston next lol
  6. Thanks for sharing this Janet. My littlest daughter loves watching my eldest dance but we have yet to take her to see a ballet. This sounds like the perfect introduction
  7. oooo how exciting! Well done both of you for getting thru this stage. Good luck for the next stage! My DD is desperate to audition but we need to wait till need year as there are too many conflicts at the mo. I shall look forward to stalking this thread
  8. it's not on the programme. We are there tomorrow so if that's too late I can ask there if you like?
  9. I can look at the program when I get home later if you haven't got an answer by then (about 8:30) not sure if it's in there tho
  10. Hi new123. Are you auditioning on the 9th. My DD is 8 and going to give it a go. More for the audition exp than anything, not expecting her to get in :-) X
  11. Thanks balletqs DD feels most comfortable and thinks she dances better in her split sole satin ones that she wears for festivals. But she has full sole both satin and leather for normal class work. I'd love to know your reasons for not allowing them in split soles till older. DD mixes with much older girls at dance so we go on what they have unless directed otherwise due to not having any other advice :/
  12. Hi Loopy. Well done on medals! DD got joint third yest & qualified (but it was already qualified -Doh) We are at Kingston weekend after - 15th was the only weekend we could make. Oh and we were going to the wrong place as were also going to the one on their website which hadn't been updated! overall I wasn't impressed with venue or organisation bit like the photographer idea.
  13. Thanks balletqs. We have opted for standard cut pale blue with belt. She's agreed to socks (white or pink with a pale blue leotard?) she has split sole canvas shoes with X elastics. Should I get her standard ones do you think? Thanks for the help!
  14. What's the venue you have for the festival? I've got one postcode that's the third update but it isn't the one in their Web page :/
  15. Thank you Spanner, you're a ☆ :-)
  16. DD has a couple of junior auditions coming up. Any suggestions on what she should wear? She's desperate to wear tights but I'm not convinced. Should she wear a belt with her leotard? And assume a criss cross strap leotard not good either? Thanks!
  17. Totally agree!! We are lucky in that the festivals we have been involved with so far have had adjudicators that criticised any dance that is not age appropriate and our school won't allow anything like that for 'children' to dance no matter how much some of them beg (which can only be the influence of the parents imho, allowing them to be subjected to something like that in the first place)
  18. We are in Berks and can fully recommend WBBS in Bucklebury
  19. Aileen, my DD too has never watch Dance Moms (US) but says her friends talk about it all the time, as do their mums. We dont have pay tv, but i know shoe 'could' watch it on utube but never has shown any interest in it. what i really hate is when the girls at the school have a break between classes they are always (and i mean always!) re-inacting the scenes and juding each other and are often quite nasty when in character - not like their natural selves at all (thankfully) I dont understand why anyone would want their child to be subjected to that kind of treatment, certainly not at such an impressionable age. To be fair, our tv is rarely on. if DD isnt at classes or competitions or doing homework, we try to get out and do 'other stuff'. maybe if we were in more it might be more of a battle, but we are struggling to keep up with Strictly (on ep 3 at mo!)
  20. Thank you. I spoke to Miss Lewis on the phone today who was totally lovely and we can go - whoop (I think lol)
  21. Little DD has seen numerous ballets now (mainly performed by the ENB as we are family linked to one of the dancers). She is desperate to see Swan Lake as she feels it is 'the' ballet to watch. As a result of her view (wrong or not), I want to make a real occasion of it and do it as a special treat with decent seats etc. Looking for views on who the best company are to perform it and where - happy to wait for it to come round so doesnt have to be current season Thanks in advance!
  22. Shelia, just got my info pack thru for Sleeping Beauty and its age on audition - dont know if that helps you or not.
