  1. Omg that's so much better! Thank you Taxi :-)
  2. Thanks! Partly what I was hoping to hear - tho we are currently down to do lots of festival work that week, but that can always wait if she ends up successful. Not sure I'm ready for the commitment of it but if she gets in I'll fully support in it somehow:-) Guess I'll email miss Lewis and find out more Do you have to provide photos like the associate applications?
  3. I'm hoping to find out when rehearsals start for southsea to see if its worth DD auditioning as she's in Panto til 4th Jan... Any one shed any light?
  4. Resurrecting an old thread rather than starting a new one... DD has told me she wants to audition for the Sleeping Beauty show nor Portsmouth in a couple of weeks. Does anyone know when rehearsals are likely to start as no point auditioning if it conflicts with stuff I already know about. Thanks
  5. We're there next weekend in a group. New venue and from what I've heard its a nice one. Only been once and the venue was not the best lol
  6. Hello Loopy there never seems to be many comments about festivals on here DD is a festival goer and will be at Hounslow and Kingston
  7. Have you had your email? DD is in group 1 @ 9am - gonna be an early start for us :/
  8. Got email today for group 1 on the 9th. No details on what to wear. Assuming standard class leotard, socks and shoes with elastics will be ok?
  9. Yeah thanks, kinda get excited when I see any mention of the CBA and forget who I've asked what lol glad to hear the class went well!
  10. Hope class went well Dancermum DD will be auditioning for CBA in Nov. any advice / comments about the process would be gratefully recieved
  11. anyone know of anything for Junior level?
  12. my DD had hers made by our local shop - 7 layers and cost £35 - not sure what prices you are looking at but might be worth asking any local shops?
  13. Quick question for all you lovely peeps. just wondering what the view is on using Split-Sole ballet shoes at festival comps and the All England events? I know you cant use them for RAD exams but unsure about any other rules
  14. I'm glad you posted this because i am in EXACTLY that same situation, same year for audition and thinking along the same lines. I've decided to let DD decide if she wants to try again. She's going to try for CBA at Tring too (her choice)
  15. Taxi - what a great idea will look to see what they have on.
  16. Nancy - i had the same thing so rang them - she said that we would hear nearer the time but if the cheque has been cashed then DD has a place at the audition hope that helps. if in doubt, email or call them
  17. Quick question regarding the CBA from DD - how many roughly audition for how many spaces? Said i would try and find out for her.
  18. Thanks Chaperone! that was exactly the kind of info i was after. Local ballet teacher was quite condescending about a couple of the london school (she's RB trained), saying how they use the name London to gain a rep that they wouldnt gain otherwsie... i have no idea who she meant, or how serious it was, hence the question
  19. thanks everyone for all the comments!!! you really helped me put it in perspective (feel bit daft for posting to be honest ) So to update, we've agreeed that she can do them so long as homework was done - that was the real key thing as that comes before dance. Then they can be done for max of half hour in the eve, and on route to any dance events etc (we thankfully dont have the issue with social media / game devices as she's never been into anything like, that despite owning x-box, wii, ds, mobile phone etc etc). Jane - yes, the dance was being learnt with 2 others outside of dance classes so she was also letting them down but not spending much time on it. when i pointed out how it would feel if she'd worked hard and learnt something but one of the others hadnt put the time in, she changed her focus i've also always made her decide the priorities - eg whether she wants to do sleepover or dance event - its always been dance that wins, bar one athletics event as she wanted to 'try it out at least once'. I will never ever 'make' her dance - unless she's letting someone else down when we will have a conversation about it and why its important and if she chooses to then pull out of that event thats her choice.
  20. Hoping for some guidance /reassurance really... feeling miserable DD has been replaced with 'loom band addict' sounds funny but actually its distressed me tonight. She's meant to have been learning a new dance for a couple of weeks time and hasn't touched it... she's completely obsessed with doing these flipping loom band bracelets and it all came to a head tonight. I've confiscated them as she hadn't done her h/w for tomorrow either (Normally she's always dancing) But its really made me question whether SHE wants to dance or if its me, wanting her to dance... She's only little I know (almost 8) but has never wavered in her dreams since 3.5 of wanting to be a dancer. Sorry - prob not the place bit this
  21. Thank you Amandalou, I showed DD what you had said and she beamed It's nice to see that the no from RB JA hasn't deterred her in trying elsewhere.
  22. Thanks hfbrew & 2dancersmum - more to go and read DD tried rainbows but she said she didn't 'get the little kids' lol all same age as her! Left after a term!
  23. Thanks Julie. I never realised there was so much to learn. is exciting and daunting being on this ride but while DD is fully committed I intend to be too
  24. I didn't say they were, I asked of they were in league with them - ie of a similar standard Sorry if I confused you rowan
  25. I'm glad you posted this, i've never heard of the LJB before :/ are they in league with the RB etc? presumably as they audition to get in the standard must be pretty high!?
