  1. @balletbeanHappy Birthday! I hope it all goes well for your dd!
  2. It also showed up on Buzzfeed but someone shot it down in flames.
  3. @balletbean, I totally understand your anger. I watched the France-Hungary game with disbelief. All those people were bunched together with not a mask in sight. I am beginning to wonder what is the point of all the individual efforts at disease control when so many others flout them with no consideration for others at all. It isn't fair that they can do that yet the responsible efforts of those young dancers is disregarded. I am so sorry.
  4. I’m a grandmaster now - that was quick!
  5. I have been on this forum and the original Ballet Co since 1999. To say that I was a newbie was rather surprising.

Yes, we used Firefox for a while but it went rogue for us too.
  7. I’m sad too. She inhabited her roles and there was a glow whenever she was onstage. I will miss her. She’s unique. I am sure she will do well at Stanford as she is very intelligent as well as emotionally intelligent.
  8. I remember Andy Murray being grilled by Sue Barker at Wimbledon the year he lost and it was absolutely obvious that he was devastated. He said if she kept on he was going to cry. My heart went out to him. We get sweat and probably blood from tennis players. We should not demand their tears as well.
  9. Lovely news! Thank you for sharing it, Capybara.

Go Vadream! You have an illustrious name to uphold.
  13. That’s simply awful news. Rest in peace, Katherine.
  14. I paid £120 in one salon where I used to live for the same cut and blow dry! They had moved to a larger salon in the town and were handing out glasses of wine to the customers as routine. I was shocked rigid when I was told the cost. I never went back there again.
  15. I'm reading all this and deeply sympathising with all parents and dcs here. I do wonder if any parents whose starry eyed children go into their first ballet class would allow them to if they knew even half of the experiences our Ballet Co children have suffered. I have noticed over many years that I have been here the injury and burn out rate of dancers. My dds did not go to vocational school as they were on different paths but they knew not to be sick, injured or decide to have any social life rather than miss a dance class. This ethos cannot be right. I wish I knew what the answers were and more, that vocational schools actually cared for their dancers.
  16. Lovely pictures but my favourite is the one of Princess Margaret's wistful face as she watches Sleeping Beauty onstage in 1946.
  17. Absolutely, @Dance *is*life. My youngest dd never scored highly in her ballet exams yet her ballet teacher was always telling me what a good dancer she was. She thought my dd probably got too nervous to do herself justice in exams.
  18. That was fascinating and reiterated a lot of what a ballet teacher I knew said about Cecchiti. She wrote her dance dissertation on him and his techniques and incorporated a lot of it in training her dancers. Also I am thinking about the high number of injuries carried by professional dancers. Surely food for thought?
