  1. I remember my youngest daughter’s ballet teacher exclaiming in absolute horror when I said that “we had tickets to Mayerling”. It was only my husband and myself who were going. I knew it would horrify our then very sensitive twelve year old. She loves it now.
  2. I know Sheila has recently moved. The website is still up and the email address but no phone number. You may have to resort to emailing her.
  3. @AngelaThank you so much! The letter to her mother has already been translated in full and small amounts of the other two but I have never seen the full version of the others. I studied French and Latin at school because I thought Latin would be more useful for studying history at university but I went from wanting to study the Middle Ages to Early Modern and German would have been far more useful!
  4. Thank you so much, Sebastian. If I could only get Google translate to cooperate, I would be fascinated to read them.!
  5. Oh, Viv and Berry, what a nightmare for you both! I’m so sorry.
  6. Michelle, I’m so very sorry. I hope Adrian can make a complete recovery or else improve greatly. I will keep you both in my prayers.
  7. I think everyone has said everything that I would have said for me. I cried several times throughout the ceremony at Westminster Abbey but the march to the chapel at Windsor was more moving, I felt. Peoples’ faces, the waiting pony Emily and the two corgis, the herculean effort of those bearers who must have moved the dear Queen’s coffin about seven or eight times, the removal of the Crown regalia from the coffin and when it sank into the vault were extremely moving but nobody has remarked on the expression on King Charles’s face at the end of the ceremony. It showed grief, regret and the impression that he had the cares of the nation on his shoulders. I truly felt for him. This has been an exhausting time for the whole of the Royal Family.

    Misplaced ear worms

My dd felt exactly the same way yesterday.
  9. @primroseI know. I so wish I could make it happen for you. Hugs. x
  10. Congratulations, Primrose. I know what you would rather have though. I hope that dreadful doctor is struck off!
  11. I have been sad all day. The Queen was a huge stabilising force and a passionate commitment to duty and service. May she rest in peace and rise in glory.

Phone updates that send you in endless circles when they send you codes then refuse to accept them or the new password you have just changed to get you out of the whole mess. I’ve been trying to do it since 2.00 a.m and it still isn’t resolved.
  13. So happy for them. They make a lovely couple.
  14. Congratulations, @ArucariaBallerina! I also remember when you first started posting.
  15. @ArucariaBallerina I thought it was really pretty.
  16. Does the Enigma Variations count? The people in the ballet were based on real people.
  17. I really understand that, Lin. When I was told that I couldn’t kneel anymore I was horrified and I was lucky that the nurse who told me also danced so she understood how I felt. I did ask a teacher if she could cater around that but I never heard back from her so that was that. Re the Sambé cast, Rudolf was only thirty when the Mayerling affair happened but syphilis and prolonged stress, drugs and partying made him look far older.
  18. If I could only pick one, I would pick Steven MacCrae. I can still see his drunken leer at Mayara Magri in the Hungarian scene all this years later! If I had unlimited cash, I would chose the Ball and Muntagirov debuts too, Ball because I think he would really do an excellent job and Muntagirov because I would like to see what he can do. As it is I will see none of them, not even the live stream because of my stupid immune system :::throws tantrum:::
