  1. He seemed a good man. I liked him a lot. R.I.P.
  2. A fair number of girls were transferred to my grammar school at thirteen.
  3. A friend’s daughter who embarked on this route is now a beautician. A neighbour’s grandchild is in the swimming pool at 4.00 every morning and again most evenings. She’s fourteen. Whether she will do anything with it remains to be seen.
  4. Thanks, Angela! It was quite a long time ago now. You never saw such a sad pair in the changing room and I was really worried but their lovely ballet teacher said she was sure they would get through it because they were both performers. Sure enough, they entered the studio with erect heads and 24 carat gold smiles! I have also seen a local theatre troupe give an amazing performance even though the whole cast was down with a particularly unpleasant virus. It’s incredible what the body can do when it has to.
  5. What a shame you weren’t feeling well and felt that you didn’t do yourself justice, Angela! Hopefully it went better than you thought. My youngest dd did her Grade 5 after a vile tummy bug and couldn’t remember a thing about her exam whilst her partner in the mazurka was coming down with flu! They both got Highly Commended for their performance!
  6. I still have an industrial sized reel of pink elastic from when both of our daughters used to dance a lot. It came from Dancing in the Street before they moved to Sleaford which is now very close to us.
  7. I hope it is, Michelle. My husband has just had his Monday date for his cataract operation postponed until the 31st. I’ve had to cancel all my allergy clinic appointments until the end of September. I hope things go well for Adrian.
  8. Our dds school did not let children under 12 do contemporary.
  9. @FionaEThank you for this! We saw Kobborg and Cojacaru dance this at the ROH. I have never forgotten it and it is one of my favourite ballets along with Manon and Mayerling.
  10. My dd was devastated when her dance then drama ambitions came to nothing. She does a lot of amateur theatre, mainly dancing and singing. We watched her in a show last night. She looked so good! She’s medium height but really noticeable onstage plus when she was dancing, all her movements were clean, precise and ended off neatly. Her dance training is still there. It was a pleasure to watch her last night. I thought a lot about her lovely dance teacher too who unfortunately passed away on holiday a few years ago. More to the point was our daughter looked liked she was having a really good time and was radiant with pleasure when she came out of the theatre. There is life after dance classes.
  11. Emeralds Posted 14 hours ago Ok members. How many people would buy tickets to see Laura Morera, Alexander Campbell, Vadim Muntagirov, Sarah Lamb/Yasmine Naghdi in a ballet version of Much Ado About Nothing? Costumes by Bob Crowley (he’s very reliable and creative, nothing weird). Tickets will not be more than £80. Choreography by Christopher Wheeldon. Ooh, the production could tour several cities. So that nobody has to endure train hassles and expenses. 😁 Edited 14 hours ago by Emeralds Oh yes, fabulous idea!
  12. Thank you so much for sharing this beautiful photos, @Rob S. The ones of her with Federico Bonelli made me tear up as did my husband when I showed them to him. Laura’s presence on stage will be much missed. I wish her the very best for her future career.
  13. I had a look at the LaDuca. Oh, they are so pretty! I’m not showing them to my younger dd though. I am not buying them for amateur shows!

    Seriously?!

    Yesterday was International Goth Day.
  15. How disappointing for you, @Workhard_Dreambig. I’m so sorry. Hugs.
  16. My copy is on order from Amazon. At least I will actually get it this way. Waterstones have let me down several times recently.
  17. Oh no! I always enjoyed her posts. Rest in peace, Grey Rabbit.
  18. I saw this on Facebook and that it’s available for preorder but I can’t find it.
  19. I wish I was going. I picked her out as a future star a considerable time ago. She’s such a lovely dancer, radiating joy.
  20. If it’s the performance I think it was, Sim, I cried too and I can still see how implacable Alina was when she was telling Onegin to go. Superb.
