  1. Well that was efficient! I was just thinking of those stalking the postman this morning- now the long wait for the final. Keep remembering that all the no's are actually just not yet's ????
  2. So sorry to hear about your DD being so down and low. I hope you're able to get through to speak to someone at the school before Saturday. I agree with the comments about the change in the amount of daylight although it should not be so dramatic where she is so far north. It occurs to me that Swan Princess might be at the same school I wonder if she could offer her some support and advice. all the best in this upsetting situation .
  3. All the best for the audition season ! The roller coaster begins again !
  4. We thoroughly enjoyed it - there was something for each member of our family to enjoy ! DS favoured the loud and modern viscera (which I didn't mind and appreciated the technical skills shown). My 80 yr old dad preferred the 2 more classical duets and my mother and I loved the Carmen most of all , to my surprise ! It was such fun and was a multifaceted entertainment ! My youngest son - despite having a headache was transfixed throughout ! A splendid afternoon of entertainment mixed with culture for the whole family ???? I have to disagree with those that said Carlos is no choreographer ....we were entertained and the time flew by . It was a real treat . I imagine that the RB dancers had a lot of fun with this - loved the chairs with wheels and all the dancers were splendid but especially Bonneli Morera and of course Carlos (though DS was embarrassed but the raunchiness - typical 13 yr old .....) Yes I would go and see it again - if it was part of another programme !
  5. We are all set to come up tommorow as a family of 5 (3 generations ) for the matineƩ - so I've been watching this rhread with interest! On ballence very excited because although the main aim was to see DS hero on the ROH stage one last time , it seems we are in for a treat alround and we will see things we might otherwise not have thought of !
  6. To be honest they want the child to be as comfortable as possible and show themselves at their best - so if your son usually wears tights and is uncomfortable in shorts that's fine too ! Our son is also very happy at Elm
  7. On the train home from watching Francesa Hayward's debut tonight - wonderful , amazing - such a talent !
  8. What a wonderful forward thinking venture - I really hope it takes off and that many more company directors buy into it !
  9. I think we have lost at least 6 water bottles - all named ! This last week one I was asked to replace one white school uniform trainer - one "fell out " somewhere on the way to plyometrics which as if site ???
  10. I've taken the plunge ! Going to see them on Saturday with DS! -a leave out treat ! Well it gives me an excuse to see them at last !
  11. We're all going to see Golding and Hayward on Friday 23 October as a half term treat from Grandad So excited as we have never been all together 3 generations , and never managed to see Romeo and Juliet before !
  12. I know you won't regret it ! Especially when you sit and watch the performance for the first time and say to your neighbour - that's my girl ! - with tissues in hand . Get the best seats you can afford once you find out which cast she is in! When we did it we could get a few more for family members. It was a very special night . Happy memories....
  13. Oh dear ! No! No sour grapes whatsoever! I'm a huge fan of the BRB and my son has been extremely fortunate to have been in several other productions , not only with BRB , I was simply concerned that this comment :- Might lead some to believe that taking part, might have some influence in their chances of further training etc . I don't think that should be a factor in deciding if the commitment and major effort on the parents behalf was worth it! I'd hate anyone to think that by turning it down for good practical reasons they were influencing chances in future training. That is why I was pointing out that a big factor is the available costume size and we were In fact told that at the auditions ! Not in any way to detract from the honour of being selected to take part !
  14. You are quite right ! I was not at all careful about what I said as opposed to what I meant! - there is no advanced technique required , but definitely a strong technique needed in the way that the simple steps are performed cleanly and precisely - as well as performance skills !
  15. Although it's a wonderful opportunity to gain get stage experience with the BRB, the choice of child is based largely on their small size to fit into the existing costumes ! The fact that many previous children who have taken part go on to dance at vocational schools or as professionals is probably circumstantial, as the company usually look at yr 7 small children at Elmhurst and then Elmhurst JA's etc. as they are nearby etc....there is little actual ballet technique involved . Have a look at u tube for the scene with the the children's party with the magician to see what they will be doing .
  16. My DS did this and it was well worth it ! However as you say it's a busy schedule....the BRB did help with accommodation at the time and it was easier for us as he was at Elmhurst at the time , but it will be an unforgettable experience ! Forgot to say - They play the role of the children at the Christmas party and there is a fair bit of simple dancing and acting For which they are on stage most of the first act if I remember correctly.the costumes are great fun too !
  17. Yes parents - especially mums - prepare your selves that you will miss them much more than they will miss you and plan something to keep you busy and not waiting for a call or text - remember no news means they are having a good time ! All the best ????
  18. Very interesting ! Thanks Dr Dance- I shall use that in the advice I give in the Pharmacy ????
  19. My DS is addicted to this and when he comes home from boarding school , sits and watches multiple episodes on the iPlayer!
  20. I have a friend at Rambert who is sharing a flat - final year I think so have asked him to let me know if he knows anyone looking for a flat share pm me if you would like his details
  21. All this makes me wonder about lower school students are they not at risk ? Are they supposed to have herd immunity after the long summer holidays ?
  22. So sad - words fail ......special condolences to friends and family
