  1. Try stopping them !!!! My DS has known since age 6 that was the only thing he wanted to do !!! I'm just along for the ride.....
  2. The only way to know how many girls invited the finals would be to ring and ask ! They are very friendly and approachable !
  3. The scales are the same for all schools , but the actual fees may differ so your contribution might be different , but the government contribution remains the same , according to your joint income as far as I'm aware .
  4. Ah well done Pictures- you beat me too it ! That's exactly what I was going to say - the rules and scale of income are all in the Elmhurst website under MDS and for that matter on the government page about the music and dance scheme .
  5. The only thing I can tell you is that Elmhurst don't have a fixed ratio of girls to boys and there are usually though not always more girls than boys in each year . I do not know exactly how many MDS places there are avaliable , but it must be around 24-28 depending on how many are leaving in the present Year 11 having finished lower school, or may be leaving from other years for other reasons . You could ask the school directly , by phone of email , - that's safer than relying on second hand information as I made the mistake of doing 2 years ago . Broadly speaking there is an MDS avaliable for most if not all the places offered at Elmhurst - assuming you are eligible of course . Hope that is of some help !
  6. I totally identify - were into our second year and although we have got used to it , it has not got easier , I just try not to think about it so much and focus my energy on his brother ! I really feel that he has changed so much and I'm not a part of it anymore - on the "exeats or leave outs" we often only have one day to actually be together and it usually catching up on sleep and homework or sourcing supplies for the next few weeks . We often argue as teenage is kicking in and his views on home life are not what they were , in fact he spends more time away from home so I should not be surprised , but it's like loosing a relationship . Hard as it is , he will grow up and pull away anyway - But it feels too soon! I know he wants to be at school more than anything in the world so it's just a sacrifice I have to make - he knows he always has the choice to come home !!! I suppose it won't be long before he decides he would rather stay with a regimen than make the long trip home , just for one day . I think you will find that most of us ballet parents go through this . My best advice is to keep busy doing the things you couldn't do before your DD went away, because you were so busy taking her to dance activities !
  7. As it happened my DS just had his cast off on Monday after fracturing the base of his 5th metatarsal 3 weeks ago He was told one week no weight bearing , then progressive weight bearing . About to start physio and can walk without pain but not able to jump yet Not sure if the door was re-X-rayed when the cast was taken off - better find out !
  8. Hooray ! So pleased for you both xxx????????????????????????
  9. Awww so sorry swanpricess - had all my fingers and toes crossed- don't let it get you down - Sooner or later the right door will open for you!
  10. Not new either ! - well been around a couple of years - mum of DS......
  11. Yes indeed congratulations to you and we'll done parents for making it in one piece to the end of the waiting game ! All of the very best as you prepare for an exciting grew start in September !!
  12. I can't even find this morning s finals !
  13. How did you manage to see the catch up of Friday LinMM - I can only find up to Thursday on you tube !
  14. Look out also for 321 the only British girl!
  15. Forgot to say Dancer in the rain the number through to finals varies a bit from year to year so is rather more difficult to comment on! In our year it was 24 boys and a few more than that girls for the 12 places and for Elmhurst more than that for around 14 places
  16. I'm also curious to know how scholarships and MDSs whether such schemes are presented on income, or the talent of the child (I ask because we have been asked to submit income details to Elmhurst). The fees do concern me a great deal, and I think my biggest stress is not with being unsuccessful, as I know she will take it well, but it's with being offered a place and us not being able to fund it. I hope this isn't too sensitive a topic, Don't pannic Dancerin the rain -there is MDS funding for all 12 girls and 12 boys At WL and most if not all the year7 at Elmhurst it is means tested and the scale is in both school websites - there is no priority as to who gets it -if you are suitable for training and offered a place you will be offered it at these two schools ????
  17. Finally got to see some of Monday's footage !
  18. Thank you all for the helpful suggestions and comments- they're really helpful in speeding up the planning and research ! How about a few private lessons later on in the summer holidays to keep them in tune ? Other than RAD in London can anyone suggest a teacher that might do this for a boy of 13 in the South East ?
  19. Looks like it's worth a try for DS then - if I can find him someway of getting there !
  20. The website for this says its been going since 2012 - any one have any experience of this summer school ? http://www.invitationtodance.org.uk/#home
  21. Congratulations all those with Finals And be strong all of you with the not yet's !
