Pappano’s presence isn’t strictly required for the launch as he’ll be on sabbatical next season. -

Would you have said that to Fonteyn? Or Ferri? I for one am enjoying the range of artistry we get to experience in this run.

I’d think the BBC will look for someone younger to diversify the panel. Maybe Stacey Dooley as a highly popular past winner, though she might be too similar to Claudia Winkleman as a slightly “quirky” personality. Ore Oduba seems a fair guess.

I found Kevin O’Hare’s remark towards Leanne Cope at yesterday’s Insight event “What makes a Royal Ballet Dancer” rather disrespectful. She hosted the event, and during a discussion on post RB careers he said “ Who would have thought little Leanne would go on to lead a Broadway and West End show”. It’s the use of the adjective little I object to. I know she’s very petite but this felt wrong and unnecessary.

The Royal Ballet: Frankenstein, March 2019
MrsBBB replied to capybara's topic in Performances seen & general discussions
I saw all 3 casts last week and it was the Act3 pdd between Lamb and Hirano at yesterday’s matinee that moved me the most. It was a really extraordinary performance in a ballet I don’t particularly like. Very powerful. Glad to report that the performance was filmed for Japanese TV.- 300 replies

A friend of mine who had booked a nearby seat for cycle 2 (but was unable to go due to illness) said he was contacted by the Met Police about this incident. Obviously he couldn’t tell them anything.

Yes confirmed. She said he’s helping her coach the partnering.

Royal Ballet 2018/2019 Winter Season Casting
MrsBBB replied to Bluebird's topic in Ballet / Dance news & information
It’s Rob Clarke. He spoke about the role and acting rehearsals in the recent Balanchine & Robbins insight evening (which was about their use of music and didn’t involve any dancers, other than in a bit of archive NYCB and POB footage).- 349 replies

Yes, sounded like a woman screaming somewhere below Grand Tier level. Definitely not part of the soundtrack.

Does Harrod dance the second variation? I’ve only seen her in the third one which Takada dances in the first cast. The other second Shades I’ve seen are Magri and Kaneko.

Lack of Royal Ballet news (cast changes)
MrsBBB replied to ninamargaret's topic in Ballet / Dance news & information
A tannoy announcement about the cast change was made in the foyers but not inside the auditorium before curtain up. I didn’t see any cast change slips but apparently there were some. Both the Stalls and Amphi programme desks had run out of programmes well before the show which is incredibly bad form given most people will want to buy their programme at the first opera of the Ring cycle. Anyway, back to ballet.
