Thank you Katymac! It did affect us and DD1 was offered a place on the BA hons which is wonderful as it was her first choice! Very happy household here tonight!!! Now how do we pay it all is another question...

My DD asked me not to share audition results on this Public forum and I have respected this and not 'tantilised' the public with obscure messages. My DD has her place at school of choice, but know of many who are waiting and recent contributions by posters haven't been too sensitive

Oooh which school?

Only kidding  ;)  Congratulations to your DD on her success.

Congratulations to your DD afab! Nice to hear of a LSC offer, I recently commented on here that we don't hear much about this school these days and I was surprised. Is it the ballet stream your DD has been accepted for? I've always liked the look of this school as from the prospectus it seems that they really schedule timetables according to the needs of each individual student.

It could just be me of course, but I LOVE hearing on this Forum which vocational schools everyone`s children are going to. Think it`s proper exciting.!

Me too!

I totally understand why people don't want to post publicly about which schools they're going to. It feels too nosy to PM them and ask though, which to be fair, it is! LOL

I agree with Nana Lily on the "I got a place but I'm not saying where!" type posts but I also agree with others that it's useful and encouraging to hear that there is still movement on the waiting lists. We also see a lot of posts from people who are on reserve lists who are wondering whether they still have any chance of being offered places so it's good to hear from someone who can say for sure that offers are still being made,

Good luck to everyone still waiting to hear if they have a place!

Thanks Invisiblecircus! The first year of the BA is a common year for all streams at LSC (Contemporary, ballet, jazz and MT). They specialise only from the second year onwards which was why LSC was DD1's favourite school as she's not sure yet if she wants to major in MT or in jazz. The feeling was really nice there for both auditions and the students seem very happy and dedicated.

A little bit of news for you all that may give some hope. My daughter wasn't put on the reserve list and didn't do the solo, physio or interview at Rambert but has just been offered a place .....total and utter shock!!! :) :) :)

Off to Paris today for DD2's audition with Conservatoire de Paris! She got the recall last year and a plain no the 2 years before that!!!

Lots of hope and trying not to at the same time for today!

We'll be zigzagging France as she had the first of her end of year shows last night so we couldn't go before today, another show tonight at 8.30 and she's one of the first ones on stage and the train (if on time) will get us to the theatre at 8!!! Then if she gets the recall, back to Paris tomorrow morning and back to the theatre again before 8 tomorrow evening!!! And we live 250 kms away from Paris!

We just settled on where her big sister will be studying next year after a whirlwind of auditions to start again with DD2. Luckily DD3 auditioned in March and was successful as it was her only audition...

Being a dancers mum (or dad) is exhausting!

Gosh afab that does sound exhausting......good job you are on French trains and not the UK Southern service at least!! Although having said that yesterday everything was bang on time for the first time for weeks(I have to go up to London at least once a week)

Anyway great news about your DD 's

All the now slightly older people I know who attended the London Studio Centre loved it there.

Fingers crossed for DD2 and does that mean DD3 is now studying vocationally in France?

The world of auditions is strange and unfathomable .....such a roller coaster , but one thing for sure if you don't at least try you will never know ! Parents seem to suffer emotionally more than the dancers in this process - not for the faint hearted . Just have to hang on to the belief that each one will find the right path for them .....

Ah OK. I know that it was originally that way at LSC but at the time I was thinking of applying they had started a separate course which specialised in ballet right from the first year. I've just looked at their website and see that they no longer have this option.

I know someone who did the MT course and is having a very successful career!

Well done Meggy13, that's lovely news for your daughter!

The thing I find a bit odd about the Rambert process is that to put candidates on a reserve list and invite them to a further audition can't help but get their hopes up. It must be so hard to still be left waiting after all this extra effort. Not to mention the extra costs involved with getting to the audition, hotels, time off work/school, etc... I sympathise because we were on the reserve list but withdrew after receiving offers elsewhere.

I know everyone says the audition process is far from transparent at most schools and I do agree having gone through it ourselves but it just frustrates me that it is like this!! I'm fed up hearing - oh that's just the way it is... Arghhhhh!

The audition process for upper schools is really quite horrendous, with a big helping of GCSE stress thrown into the pot as well !!

It's very exciting before it starts, but then the stress of waiting, getting finals, no's and waiting lists kicks in and the excitement has flown out of the window. The relief of getting a place is wonderful, but the disappointment of a 'no' is soul destroying, but really the waiting can go on far too long !

Congratulations to all have have a place and fingers crossed that the waiting will soon be over for others.

One of DD's friends had a very last minute place (had to wait until July/August), but she is doing incredibly well now, so it did work out for her in the end .

I totally agree with you skinted, we are still waiting on the rambert reserve list, attended the first audition went through all the solo physio and interview then got called back for the recall which was really positive. It has cost a fortune!! Lol My son has sort of accepted the fact that he won't be going to his first choice but I am still holding on for dear life lol its a mad roller coaster and I just hope for some good news so that u can stop thinking about it ???? I am driving myself mad lol xxx

I agree about the frustration but I'm afraid the industry is this way too so at least it's good practise! LOL

Congratulations to your DD Meggy13.  It just goes to show that they must have seen enough at the first audition to know they liked her.  I hope she is very happy there. To others still waiting good luck - I can sense your stress and frustration -

Did your DD audition late Meggy13?

If so this might explain why she was offered a place without the reserve list offer first etc?

But then I suppose some might fall in between initially .......where they are not sure whether to offer a direct place or reserve place

Anyway well done to your DD .....fabulous to be training at the Rambert.
