  1. I missed her dance today has anyone got a link where I can watch it ?
  2. Caught up with this thread today- there are plenty of successful dancers without the right physique but with something special to offer and plenty of dancers with the right physique that don't secure contracts.. To have both the body and special 'something ' must be great
  3. That all sounds very accurate and was my understanding too. Perhaps the word conversion is more appropriate than' topping up ' as used in my earlier post. The only point I was really clarifying is that Tring provide the level 6 trinity diploma exactly the same as Elmhurst and other institutes. I believe if you leave after 2 years in 6th form , you will have completed the level 5 rather than 6.
  4. The diploma at Tring is level 6. Level 6 is not equivalent to a degree but can be topped up to one in year by distance learning .
  5. If only life were that simple ....
  6. Leipzig ballet in Germany are also auditioning on feb 14th and you can apply via their web site
  7. Audition Ballett Dortmund Artistic director Xin Peng Wang is looking for: - one female and one male principal dancer for the main company - 10 young dancers between 18 and 21 years for the junior company Application until February 7th, 2016. Audition: February 21st, 2016.
  8. If I remember right it was a tutu skirt for the classical variation - I think you could choose a longer skirt if you were doing other variations. The solos were not watched by the other candidates a few years ago - they entered the room one at a time to perform to the audience and panel. It was a lovely day and a worthwhile experience
  9. My dd did Birmingham CAT a few years ago and even though it was a contemporary scheme, they had a weekly ballet class ( usually with an artist from BRB) and they paid for her RAD class at her usual ballet school. The MDS covered the fees and ballet classes .
  10. Taxi .. I don't think anyone else was offended by your very true comment - it's reality that dancers are not paid well. Those who post of the forum or read it regularly understood the context of your smiley and I really wouldn't let this worry you or feel the need to justify yourself anymore.
  11. The Birmingham class has been cancelled.
  12. Well done to your dd Swayback and yours too Pas de chat Both very deserving xx
  13. At Tring RAD is included in Dada
  14. I think the only time those points are likely to count is for courses such as open university where you total up points from different modules. I wonder if it works in the same way as AS levels which you can no longer use points from if you then do an A level in the same subject . So , if you take adv foundation can you no longer use inter points ??
  15. If I remember right ,RAD Adv 2 was about £120. You get a discount if you are a member of the RAD. Many students are successful without ever taking an exam and many with distinctions as Julie said, wouldn't be suitable for a career in ballet. We paid for these to allow entry to various high profile competitions including Genee; insisting that entrants have distinction in RAD exams to enter these competitions does of course mean there is an acceptable level of competence but also excludes many very talented dancers who haven't opted to take exams. Inter and Adv 1 attract Ucas points which may one day be useful, although many universities ask for points to be from 3 core subjects and don't allow add on amounts .
  16. Have a fantastic time everyone - looking forward to seeing some familiar faces at the end show
  17. Huge congrats to your dd LTD - so pleased for her xx
  18. We use D&G - Tring use them too for their bookings to hospital etc. We also use Eco taxis which are much cheaper. However my dd walks to the station during daytime and light nights - it's about 2 miles . Message me if you want details of taxi numbers etc
  19. I don't think we will ever work out what goes on behind auditions..I remember a couple of years ago a girl being offered a place at Elmhurst who hadn't made finals. The schools can have who they want and don't have to justify their decisions ... Very well done to your daughter meggy - she has a place whatever the route she took to get there and that's wonderful news!
  20. I think we posted at the same time dancing days
  21. The results for English and maths are higher - 100% and 96% respectively. Personally though I believe the child's happiness is more important and this should be the key deciding factor- an a* student will probably get a* regardless of which of these schools they choose.
  22. Pretty sure Tring is about 95% Edited to add that it is gcse.
  23. Well done to your lovely daughter swayback So pleased xxxx
  24. We know one finalist in the south Asian who was on the cat scheme in Birmingham
  25. Those who don't board obviously can do what they want at weekends
