  1. Well done to your dd ! My dd entered 2 years ago and it was a fab but expensive experience.
  2. It's boarding that's so expensive at Tring. There have been previous threads on here regarding the option of living off site and it is a much cheaper option. My dd has lived off site for three years whilst being at Tring and it is half of the cost.
  3. It's a much fairer system where the school has no awareness of financial situations . It is a shame that all upper schools are not funded in that way. It is not only the students but also the schools that lose out- there are students who cannot afford to attend with dada funding and therefore only have the choice of those institutions providing student finance ; luckily there are some great schools out there that are funded in that way.
  4. My dd was non vocational and didn't attend any ballet associate schemes just a local dance school .She was successful is gaining an upper school place and there are others in her year group in the same position. We know of students who were RBS associates and didn't gain a place - it is not everything - you will be judged on your performance at audition
  5. The level 6 is worth more points than an A level - I think 200 + but would be grateful if anyone has a definite figure .
  6. It also seems to read that there is funding for topping up your diploma (ie Tring , Elmhurst) to a degree.
  7. http://www.balletcoforum.com/index.php?/topic/4804-idta-international-theatre-dance-awards/ Hope that works x
  8. Midland theatre ballet is a wonderful experience and I would certainly recommend it - fantastic teaching faculty and excellent performance opportunity.
  9. My dd was fortunate to win the ballet awards a few years ago / it is a lovely day. There is a ballet class on stage and then students are taught a variation. Candidates selected for the final perform later again in the day. It was a great experience. I think there have been several previous threads on here about the awards which you should be able to search for .
  10. KS dance have just announced on their fb page that Jenny Hackwell won the Fewster scholarship.
  11. I have contact details of someone who decorates ballet shoes - pm me for details if interested.
  12. Whether you are in receipt of dada funding or not is surely a big consideration. I know students who chose other schools with student finance as it was the only viable financial option.
  13. Competitions will always be subjective but i don't think it's fair to compare the medalists with previous competitors. Well done to all the medalists and finalists, a great achievement.
  14. Fantastic news for the finalists All the competitors take part in the semi finals - they dance their chosen classical variation and dancers own after a week of coaching . Only those who make the final dance the commissioned choreographers piece .
  15. That's great news - exactly the same here! Frustrating but more important to get them fit and healthy without risking further injury. Hopefully they will both be there next year!
  16. So sorry to hear she can't go - hope she has settled well at her new school and is happy
  17. Thank you. Kat09 - am I right on thinking your daughter was doing the genee challenge this week ?
  18. My dd has had to withdraw from this competition due to injury and I now have tickets for both the semi finals and the final if anyone is interested, I have posted on the 'For sale' section of the forum. Just wanted to say thank you though to all the lovely people on here who have sent private messages. Much appreciated
  19. I have 2 tickets for both semi finals and the final of this competition . Please pm me if interested.
  20. There were some older students in 6:1 but I think they were international students .
  21. Just dropped of at Tring for final year ...the years have flown by ..enjoy
  22. The Grishko ones are a few hundred pounds but we managed to buy one second hand - worth asking around
