  1. This is where being a lawyer comes in handy. Assuming we're talking about property in England or Wales, the land will be either registered or unregistered. If it's residential property, it's highly unlikely to be unregistered (unless it's a leasehold interest that's less than 7 years) as registration began in the 1920s and it's a requirement to register when the property is transferred (e.g. sold, gifted, inherited). Title deeds only relate to unregistered property - they are evidence of title and should be kept safe. The law changed for registered property about 15 years ago. Prior to that, there was a land certificate for registered property (and, if the property was mortgaged, a charge certificate). These documents were important they were evidence of title or mortgage. However, the current position is that the register itself is evidence of title so the land certificate is just another piece of paper and means nothing.
  2. Miss Gertrude is the doll that Clara is given as a present (in the original ETA Hoffman story, it's Marie's oldest doll). The "gingerbreads" arrive at the party with St. Nicholas, and then go on to be the characters in the diverts.
  3. In case anyone missed it, Gary Avis hinted on Instagram last night than Nutcracker will be back in the 2018/19 season.
  4. Yes it is. The new season information is subject to an embargo and this forum is "press" so far as the ROH Is concerned. Any leakage of details of the new season in advance of the lifting of the embargo will be deleted (and there may be consequences for repeat offenders).
  5. Well, O'Hare has said there will be a MacMillan piece that's quite long and hasn't been done for some time.
  6. A number of posts on this thread have been hidden whilst they are considered by the moderators.
  7. To be fair, that post was a response to a question about honorary awards so not being Canadian is irrelevant.
  8. Nellie Melba (GBE...) and Joan Sutherland's damehoods were not honorary; they were Australian (so Commonwealth) and full honours. And as Jolie's damehood is honorary, she is not entitled to the use of the prefix Dame.
  9. Probably because it looked awful. Some dancers in that role now add a little glitter to their hair instead.
  10. Cuthbertson is indeed 33, Lamb is 37, Osipova is 31, Núñez is 35 and Morera is, as you say, in her 40s. None of them are, in my opinion, anywhere near retirement.
  11. I have a spare ticket for RB's Nutcracker on 29 December - stalls A16 (technically behind the conductor). Face value is £92, please PM if interested.
  12. I also had a humming neighbour for the matinée but, as he was waving a stick at the orchestra, I couldn't really complain.
  13. I have stalls circle (standing) D26 available for Nutcracker on 18 Dec (evening) available. Face value is £10, please PM if interested.
  14. The fact that Sambé is injured is in the public domain. The extent of the injury is not and, so whilst some of us may know, it would be against the AUP to post details on here.
  15. Not quite right. Kaneko replaced Heap as an attendant in acts 1 and 3; Buvoli & Dias replaced Crawford and Turk as attendants in act 3. Turk and Donnelly replaced Kaneko and Ella as Terpsichore and Apollo. The cast change slip said Kaneko and Donnelly replaced Turk and Ella, which was the error as the cast sheet said Kaneko & Ella (see above). It also omitted Dias replacing Turk.
  16. Yes there was, see here. There was also a bank holiday when Princess Anne was married (the first time).
