Other conductors for WT haven't been so high up (and the onstage band can look at the monitors, like wot the opera singers do).

Really pleased to see a lady on the podium (doesn't happen enough at the ROH) but on Tuesday she did seem to be standing unusually high up in the pit, so much so that it was noticeable (and quite distracting) from the grand tier.

There was an offer on fromtheboxoffice.com for ages (40% off most ticket prices IIRC) but that's no longer on. Given the ticket sales to date, I would imagine there will be plenty of tickets at TKTS.

I would expect that to be within the remit of the board of trustees, if they have any concerns in that regard. -

Actually, it proves nothing. It may suggest something, but it doesn't prove it. -

There’s a picture of Makarova in the Munich programme that is dated 1982. The programme also contains a list of everyone who has danced the principal roles in Munich and the number of appearances (5 for Makarova and only 1 for Maximova). -

I'm rather disturbed at suggestions on this thread that ACE is biased. There is no reason for ACE to be biased (in fact it would be a significant issue for them if they were found to be biased) and if anyone has a significant concern in that department, they can make a freedom of information request to them. I note that it is a condition of receiving a grant from ACE that the recipient has appropriate employment law and non-discrimination policies in place. -
I haven't missed any point and I know exactly how charitable donations work and are accounted for, thank you very much. You suggest that the reason the donations are made is for tax planning reasons. I'm countering that (with obviously a little more knowledge of Mrs. Jebsen's situation) by saying the donations may be made altruistically and not solely for the reasons you suggest.

Or in Aud Jebsen's case, that perhaps she has a very philanthropic streak. Please don't suggest things if you don't know whether or not they're true.

Do I have to remind you again (as I did last time you raised this subject) that ENB has a board of trustees, who have legal responsibilities as to how a charity is run? I’m sure they are aware of them. And, as i said last time too, a jump of two salary bands is not necessarily a pay-rise of £20,000; one can jump two bands with a difference of £10,002.

I'm not being naïve, I was responding to a point made (and which I quoted in my response). -

I sincerely hope this is not a suggestion that the accusations in the Times report are on a par with the criminal allegations again Martins. -

If the younger colleague were under 18 this would be an issue, but a consensual relationship between adults should not be a concern. I work in an office environment and have seen many work relationships blossom (including a number involving a colleague subordinate to the other) and there is no problem, no one has been forced to resign or sacked and the people involved remain very happy together.- 303 replies
