  1. IMHO neither. My thoughts were that, as the rest of Osipova's performance in that pd2 had been rather out-of-control and not her best, she didn't feel comfortable in doing the fouetté turns.
  2. Thanks Bluebird. There’s already a thread for this so I’ve locked this one.
  3. My better third spoke to Scarlett about the tambourine flunkies at the first night party and he said this is part of Ashton's original, but that he has changed the rhythm a bit.
  4. And current AJYD, Amelia Palmiero (I was talking about this just last night)
  5. I have SCS D26 available for RB Swan Lake on 8 June - face value is £11. Please PM if interested.
  6. Of course, it is uplifting that the evil spirit has been defeated and the curse has been lifted from the other 26 ladies!
  7. Agreed on the excellent stage craft utilised in returning the shawl to the table (though it did make a bit of a racket when Cuthbertson flung it to the floor!).
  8. Just to mention that the bottom of the escalators may be a difficult meeting place tomorrow evening. The interval receptions for the sponsors/supportors are being held in one of the opera rehearsal rooms and the entrance backstage for those attending will be the door at the bottom of the escalators!
  9. Crediting the copyright holder doesn't (in general) grant a right to use the material under copyright.
  10. As I'm now attending a conference, I have a couple of spare Swan Lake tickets. 5 June - stalls circle D26, face value £11 6 June - orchestra stalls A16, face value £117 Please PM if interested.
  11. I would suggest you join the Imperial College Union Refectory Club (£2 to join IIRC), and then you can eat in the Union bar.
  12. So, against all usual character traits, I forwent Manon last night for In Conversation with Oliver Mears. All in all, a good evening and one particular point of note for here - there will be a "proper collaboration" between the Royal Ballet and the Royal Opera in 2021 (a Rameau piece).
  13. This is fine. Candidates and their teams are not allowed to campaign inside a polling station but, as a general rule, they are free to campaign generally (provided they don't restrict easy access to a polling station in doing so).
  14. I didn't think you did. The piece comprises the same musical numbers as it always has. The ladies to whom you refer partner other members of the soloist line-up and take part in the "soloist" ensemble pieces but do not have a solo piece of their own, so it could be argued that they are there "to make up the numbers" or to balance the soloist line. There are a number of reports that KM choreographed a number of other rags that didn't make it into the ballet (and I note the original score recorded by Phillip Gammon includes three numbers that don't appear in the ballet), so it's more than possible that these ladies might have been included in one or more of those rags that didn't make the final cut.
