  1. I gather today is lower school finals at Elmhurst. I have been standing in my kitchen thinking back to that day last year, a day full of emotion!! Laughter, tears, nervous laughter to try and cover the tears, gut wrenching nerves and yearning - and that was just me! It was a lovely sunny day and some time was spent over tea and cake outdoors in the park with friends, some drinking more tea at the MAC, some finally getting to see the lovely rooms and the notes left by the year 7s wishing people good luck but ALL of it with a constant internal dialogue and a knot in the stomach! When dd came out happy and saying that it had gone well it was a huge relief and we stopped off at a co-op on the way back towards the motorway to buy copious amounts of chocolate . I can't beleive it was a year ago, the emotion is still so raw! Thinking of everyone who is there today, I hope you have had an enjoyable and memorable day! Edited to add, not really a question so maybe in the wrong thread, sorry admin
  2. I agree Afab, but I also don't beleive that deciding to audition (or not) for JAs equates to deciding what you want to so for a living/vocation. They are very young yet ( is ahe 7 or 8? ) and if applying for yr4 I really wouldn't even be thinking in those terms,... One step at a time. Not all JAs will be ballerinas but that doesn't mean it wasn't a worthwhile activity.
  3. Clara Congrats to dd on getting that far! In my experience, there can be quite a bit of movement on waiting lists. As there are often the same girls at finals for several schools it is possible that some girls offered MDS at Tring may also get offers at other schools which suit them better so the offer then goes on down the waiting list. I know there was a fair bit of movement last year.
  4. Most if mine and my husbands 'courtship' was spent 'singing along to Wonderwall and Luve Forever'. It brings back some very happy memories to think about it. He was quite excited this morning when I read out your first post to him before work!
  5. Oops , and Amandalou ( posting at the same time )
  6. Oh right, now i understand. How fabulous for her to get her ideal choice of offer then! My dd did the easrer course at Tring and loved it. You must be on cloud nine to have it all sorted :-) Edited due to fat finger syndrome
  7. Too much talent Am I missing something? If your dd is nor entitled to / seeking funding from Tring, surely she will not be required to attend the funding audition so therefore, could atill attend the final audition at Elmhurst? I'm not trying to be awkward just wondering that's all. Congratulations to your dd
  8. Oops, I mUst have missed it earlier, sorry
  9. http://www.theguardian.com/stage/2012/mar/25/will-they-make-royal-ballet I found this facinating and relevant to this thread but I've just noticed the date an it isn't new so I may just be duplicating!
  10. Anjuli, you truly are a wordsmith. I so enjoy reading your posts and none more than this! I think you may have just written the bones of a screenplay here! Thank you for sharing this beautifully written story x
  11. I totally understand. I shed a year or two in the summer when dd left her dance school she had been at since she was three to go on to voc school. End of an era. Chin up though think of all the petrol you'll save! X
  12. But did it jump or was it pushed...?
  13. I see one fairly regularly at the local shops WHO 8 P00 Always raises a little smile, couldn't help wondering if it's part of a divorce settlement
  14. Hi Kat09 If you do a search I think you'll come across a thread on this from last year, but mine charged £80 having originally quoted up to £150 ( as I recall it). I was staggered as it only took about 20 mins - I wish my rate of pay was even a quarter of that!
  15. Oh ok thanks for the replies
  16. Just wondering what happens if a child is sick or injured and can't partake on the day?
  17. I have found the iron on labels from Mine4sure very good on socks, tights and laotards. Just two of them have come off, one from a silky manufacturers label inside a jacket and one from a very fluffy fleece ( I didn't think I'd put that one on very well when I did it, don't think the iron was hot enough) the ones one socks, tights and Leos are still looking good.
  18. Pretty much everyone, at some point, I'd guess! A calm sea never made a skilled sailor.... Hang on in there, you and your son have had an emotional upsetting day, but other days will be different x
  19. RBS always like to see children in socks Bou. They will ask for socks in the audition.
  20. Love it 'post traumatic stress disorder - a condition caused by waiting for audition results to arrive'
  21. This time last year I read on the forum that letters had arrived at break time but had to wait till lunchtime to rush home. It was torture and by lunchtime I had whipped myself into a frenzy! I neaRly had a heart attack when I rounded a bend and saw ( for the first time ever on that road) a mobile speed camera. Got home to find that our post as usual was slower than everyone else's and there was no letter! Luckily no speeding fine ever dropped through the post so even in my excited state I must have been still driving ok, I guess it was just my heart racing!! Best to stay off the forum whilst at work! Good luck to everyone waiting
  22. In th past it was on the old RBS site but I haven't looked since they updated the site. As it is the MDS it is a good guide for Elmhurst too but it should be remembered that the figures will change year to year so won't be the same next year.
  23. Hello and welcome It is a lovely programme to be involved with and I'm happy to answer any questions. Can I suggest you do a search using key words as there is already a wealth of information on the forum. The audition is in the form of a class ( about an hour and a half as I recall) and is a fairly simple class with some basic exercises and stretches. It is nothing to be intimidated by, they are lovely and it is a special day out for the children, just try to relax and enjoy! They do audition quite a nber of children for not that many places but it is done sympathetically. Have you checked out the JA tab on the RBS website? Happy to try and answer any specific questions, good luck
