  1. Ballet novice I have some for sale. I think we have established it may be a little small for happy mums daughter but I'll pm you the measurements
  2. I must admit to having exactly the same thought, and more generally, other kinds of commemoration. It all seems to have been a little low key to me. Maybe there will be a more visible commemoration for the 75th?
  3. Thinking of. You! Wishing your daughter a speedy and sustained recovery and all those who love her some peace of mind! For my part ( for what it's worth) please feel free to 'vent' here. This is, in my experience a place to find support and friendship and no one would wish you to censor yourself for our sensibilities! Vent away! Xx
  4. Oh I do feel for her and I understand her pain. I am known for being able to injure myself in strange ways and I once managed to sew straight through my finger (through the nail as well) with my sewing machine. I was so surprised that I'd even been able to do it that I hardly noticed the pain at first. I have also had a really odd accident where I got myself trapped by both hands stuck between the rungs of a loft ladder with my own ( not inconciderable) weight keeping them stuck there and no one else home to help me out. I also once had a really nasty mishap by vaccuming up the scarf I was wearing in the Dyson but it's hard to explain just how it scared me as it got got so tight that it left bruising on my neck and it took me a while to reach the off switch! There are a few more but I wouldn't want to make you all think I'm clumsy!
  5. Ok so that seems to have worked, this is the video I used Edited to add that I also had to google how to sew chain stitch and how to see blanket stitch! What would we do without our good friends google and YouTube!
  6. I've just done my first pair ever for dd, I got her to wear them for an hour or so first and then using a tip from a YouTube video I cut the end off a finger from an old pair of rubber glove to help grip the needle and followed the instructions on the video, chain stitching around the outside of the area to be darned and then blanket stitching into the chain stich, backwards and forwards around. I was actually really surprised how easy I found it and quite pleased with the results although it was scary starting! Good luck Ps tried to find the video I used to post a link but can't find it now, sorry
  7. It was me Sheila , don't worry I've already seen it and ordered! Thank you so much for scouring this on my behalf! Weirdly I was about to message you this afternoon to ask if you'd managed to get them and it popped up on Facebook! I have pmd you ( f/ book messenger) - I am sure you will recognise my daughters surname! Thank you so much, great service once again! X
  8. I was in Covent Garden this afternoon, a lot of resteraunts were still closed but expecting to reopen this evening and power generators were in evidence outside the theatres in the area
  9. Wow! Well done to both of your amazing determined daughters! What a credit to you. Sending positive wishes to both of them and of course you who have got them both there! X
  10. Just ballet have some very pretty ones ( or did last time I looked)
  11. I have no experience of NYB so can anyone explain a bit about how it works. For example I have heard that this year they are dong Cindarella but also some other dances. Does this mean a full length ballet of Cinderella with some of dances sort of tagged on the end or are all the dances if similar length/ 'weight' ? Also how many dances do children generally get cast in? Does anyone have experience if the summer school and can describe what they do in the time when they aren't rehearsing their own dance? Thanks in advance, I am intrigued
  12. I have an Elmhurst formal blazer and skirt for sale. The sizes have been cut out on the labels ( oops) but it would suit a year 7. I can measure if anyone is interested. Formal uniform costs are not covered by the MDS funding
  13. My dd once took quite a tumble during a tap exam on a slippy floor, she had a huge bruise on the side of her hip/ thigh. The examiner was lovely and told her to come and sit on her chair for a while to catch her breath. She went on to get a distinction despite the tumble
  14. Results were by email, could it have gone into your junk folder? I think I wod phone at this point. Good luck
  15. Sorry, It.also says that those few dancers invited to the workshops will be emailed within two days.
  16. Lilac. I have checked the letter and it definitely says "we hope to mail out the results towards the end of April" quite wait then ...mind you I can only begin to imagine how complex it is
  17. Don't start me on lack of support from schools! When dd went for her audition for RBS I went in to school to let them know in advance why she would be off, got a slightly cool "ok". A few days later I received in the post a letter from the chair of governors saying that taking a child out of school in term time for a holiday was against school rules and that I was jeopardising her education as children who missed school go on to underachieve in their SATS. I simply put it in an envelope and returned it marked " sent in error". I really wanted to remind them of it when she got her sats results, she was the only pupil who scored 100% across all 3 maths exams and the only one to achieve level 6 reading ! She went on to vocational school but the school never acknowledged her achievements, in dancing or academics
  18. Or a sweet tree? Someone near us makes beautifully decorated ones with ribbons on wrapped in cellowrap
  19. Couldn't agree more, hence my forum 'name'
  20. Which begs the question, why do they even have a contemporary 12 and under section if they don't like younger children doing it? ( not that I know anything about festivals - never been to one) Edited for clarity and spelling
