  1. oh ok, thank you, Angel, not what I expected, I suppose it's just to get a feel for who they are then, do you know how long it took?
  2. Does anybody know what is unvolved in the informal interviews at final audutions for WL? Wondering what sort of questions they would ask and what they are hoping to find out.
  3. I believe there will be 28 boys at W L finals
  4. I would definately have a look in ebay too. I have seen some lovely tutus on there for very reasonable amounts.
  5. It really doesn't get any easier, I have a 23 yr old who has relocated to Australia and Christmas was really hard, I missed him being around and I also still miss the constant stream of his friends coming in and out every day! However, I do remind myself that I brought him up to be a confident, adventurous person who would seek to live his life to the full and (damn it) he's doing that! I console myself with the knowledge that he is having a fabulous time, with great friends around him, doing what he really wants to be doing with his life. I know when your son is 12 you'll probably be thinking that when he's 23 he's grown up and its different, trust me, it comes around all too quickly and it's not so different. He is still my boy, I still love him as much, I still worry as much! This parenting lark really is for life!! I am so pleased to hear that you got to talk to your boy and that he has had a fab day (of course), x
  6. Great question, I am in exactly the same position, as of this evening, and I hadn't even thought about which way round, although I was going to sew them, I wonder if glueing would be better (it would certainly be easier) I look forward to seeing the responses
  7. what a lovely mummy you are, giving him the chance to follow his dreams, I am sure he understands that you would love to be with him but you have both made sacrifices so that he can be there. You have done a wonderful thing , giving him all the supporr, encouragement and opportunities that have got him there in the first place, well done you!
  8. my money is on Next Wednesday. I think they'll post them on Monday to aerive atuesday/Wednesday depending on post (ours is always slow)
  9. lol, i think I'll avoid the NCP then, thank you. thanks for the other info too
  10. does anybody know what the parking situation is like around Covent Garden on a Sunday? I'm wondering whether to drive or brave the trains (Disruption almost guarenteed)
  11. is that for funding auditions, or are they still on preliminary auditions?
  12. That will be because of the school age thing, I always have to stop and think it through! There must be some in yr6 who are still 10. It is a good idea to start getting your info together early. They do put all the application forms and audition dates on the website but as they are still in the process for September 13 applications at the moment, I don't suppose that will change before they finish this cycle. Good luck to your dd for when the time comes. AFTRM
  13. Hello, I am assuming she is in year five currently, and you are wanting to apply for year 7 start? That being the case, start checking the website when she goes into year 6 in September for application forms, dates etc. I'm sure someone on here will have a better memory than me, but as I recall the first preliminary auditions are in late October or November and I believe the last preliminary audition for September start was on Friday. I hope that helps. The audition is a classical ballet class, an hour and a half, no acedemic selection and parents get to look around while the children audition. This has the advantage of keeping the nerves at bay for the parents because you are occupied, but unfortunately means that the children don't get to see it. I beleive this does happen if they are lucky enough to get a final audition though. My dd does ISTD so can't comment on the RAD preference. I hope this is helpful, but I'm guessing there are people with more experience on here. x
  14. I don't want.to lower the tone, but Travelodge have rooms for £15 at the moment and £ 19 for a family room in London. obviously not luxurious but serves a purpose.
  15. Hi, I am sure my daughter would love these, can you give me.some idea of how muxh you would want for them and what the postage costs are likely to be. Thanks
  16. I think all the girls in my daughters dorm had a few snacks with them, and there was always fruit available in the dining hall. I am sure you will have a good time, the house mistress in charge of the dorm was lovely too! They do seem very helpful there and I am sure they would be happy to answer any questions you have. Good luck and enjoy it x
  17. Hi, my daughter did the Easter dance course last year. I'm not sure about the online payment thing, we sent a check with the application forms. I distinctly remember that I got an email in the Febuary half term confirming that she had a place and they paid the cheque in that week. My daughter was 10 when she went (in year5) and she was in a dormitory of 7 girls in the main house. I have to say, they were all lovely girls and they became a very, very tight knit group during the week. The room was lovely and plenty big enough to house 7. My Daughter is a fairly choosy eater, although what she does eat, she eats loads of, especialy when dancing!! She won't eat school dinners at her school but she had no issues at all with the food at Tring. The days are long and tiring, not much sleep was had the first night as they were all very excited, but they soon realised that they needed to sleep in order to dance all day! They are grouped according to ballet grades and experience and there were a couple of children in her group who had very little experience at tap, but they were all catered for. I would highly recommend it, she loved it so much she has applied for full time. Good luck x
  18. Thanks everyone! I have checked emails, including spam folder but I had over 230 spam emails over a couple of days just before Christmas and I'm now thinking maybe I got carried away with the delete button and didn't notice it! I will keep trying the phone but have decided to book a hotel the night before anyway. I don't know Birmingham and don't want to be reliant on either the motorways or the trains on such an important day! The name comes from my philosophy regarding dance. we just keep going with the flow and carry on as long as it's what she wants to do. I do occasionally ask myself 'How did I end up doing this?' though ( like when I was on a 6:30 am train to London on a Sunday morning recently!) Thanks for adding me to the only forum where I've found common sense (I'm not generally a fan of forums, but this one seems great) x
  19. Hi can anyone help me with info about the auditions in January? I received an email in November to say that my daughters name was on the list for audition on Jan 11th and that they'd be in touch before Christmas with more details. Christmas came upon us and i realised a few days ago that i havbe still heard nothing. I want to book train, hotel etc, but know nothing other than the date. Is there anyone else auditioning in January who has any more details. I'm getting anxious that maybe some post has gone astray and, of course the school is now closed for the hols and I can't get through to anyone.
  20. Hi, Im also after a bit of help with regards to auditions. I have sent in forms for Elmhurst and received an email in november saying that my daughters name is on the list for the audition on Jan 11th and that they'd be in touch before Christmas with more details. Just realised a few days ago that i have recieved no further details. Im really wanting to make travel arrangements and book a hotel but have no idea what sort of time the audition will be or any other details, and,of course, the school is now closed untill the new year, so can't get hold of anyone. I'm now getting quite worried that some post has gone astray, was wondering if anyone else is auditioning then and has, or hasn't, heard any more? I would be very grateful for any snippet of info at this point
