  1. Agree 💯 waste of the dancers time and effort and agree with @TSR101if they’d had Gertrudis riding that horse then ppl (including the bbc film crew) would’ve been transfixed. Told my husband about Like Water for Choc and he rightly said that if the general public realised that is the sort of thing that goes on at the RB ppl would be queuing round the block of the opera house to get a ticket (he’s also kicking himself for not coming with me 😂😂😂).
  2. I know it was so disrespectful of the amount of work and a lifetime of training and dedication that the dancers and their families put into their careers to develop the skills to do such a performance. It was an opportunity to showcase an amazing royal institution that was missed and instead minimised the importance of ballet 😢
  3. Did anyone else feel a bit let down by the amount of the RB and RBS that we could actually see in the tv recording of their performance at the palace this evening? The BBC only showed a very small amount of ballet on the recording of the event - most of the footage was wide angle lens views focused on the pictures projected onto the front of the palace rather than being focused on televising the dancers. The tv footage of the RB and RBS involvement was such a let down. It amounted to literally a couple of clips each lasting a few seconds 😭 Beautiful clips, but would’ve loved to see more - Lauren Cuthbertson and Reece Clark doing a stunning pdd against a backdrop of dolphins swimming in the ocean I think - was certainly a shame we didn’t get to see more 😢😢😢
  4. Really? If so I missed seeing her she’s my idol 😭😭😭😭
  5. Wow! I knew iiiit! I’ve been in the presence of a legend and I was too scared to even say hello in case it was just a member of the public 😭 We need a balletcoforum secret code word like spies or something, or maybe a secret handshake 😂😂😂
  6. Yes Nagdi / Corrales and Hinkis/Acri’s on stage chemistry 🔥🔥🔥🔥😮 def not PG it’s very steamy in places but they are all utterly fabulous.
  7. Yes and it sounded like I was the only one singing from where I was 😂
  8. Agree they were all utterly superb and Meaghan Grace Hinkis as Gertrudis and Luca Acri as Juan Alejandrez gave a stunning performance - so much passion and raw energy. Ms Hinkis danced with such joy and fire it was a privilege to watch. @Rob SI don’t suppose that was you standing next to me in stalks circle standing D6 taking photos? A gentleman with a very professional looking camera was next to me and I’d love to see those photos so I was hoping it was you.
  9. So I’m at Like W for C right now seeing the matinee and am loving it (not finding it as compelling as a classical ballet but any chance to see the Royal Ballet Perform is an absolute treat) I have a question for forum members - the seat in front on me in the stalls circle is spare - would it be very rude to sit in it for act 2? I asked the usher and he said I’d have to ask the house manager?
  10. I’d recommend seeing Leanne of straight to the pointe - she’s a mobile pointe shoe fitter. She’s excellent.
  11. Just here to say watching Marcelino today in Rhapsody 😮😮😮😮🔥🔥🔥🔥 had to scoop my jaw up off the floor. Idk what that step is called when he’s doing a handless cartwheel turning in the air in the splits but I literally gasped. He’s amazing.
  12. Find a teacher and tell them you want to prepare for your intermediate exam then they’ll hopefully put you in an exam class at that level - most likely with other teens preparing for that exam. Yes I feel your pain re adult classes, however, I’d reccomended Hannah Frost at Central School of Ballet and Pineapple she is very eagle eyed and really focuses on technique and gives lots of useful corrections. I don’t know any London ballet schools, but if you’re anywhere near Essex I’d definitely say have a chat with Mrs Patching at Adagio School of Dance - she taught my 2 kids and was excellent, according to my son she worked them hard and god knows how but she managed to get my feral boy a distinction in his primary exam and his sister a merit - so as far as I’m concerned she’s a total miracle worker if she can get my feral kids such results 😂 The studios at Adagio are beautiful too.
  13. I thought the girl doing the Indian dancing that got through into the next round was amazing - she said she also did ballet and modern. I’m looking forward to watching her, but I’m disappointed that the 2 classical ballet dancers (who were both beautiful dancers imo) didn’t get through. The male ballet dancer was so good as was Ai the other classical ballet dancer and I can’t believe they didn’t get through. The whole thing seemed focused on more contemporary styles which seemed unfair on those 2 ballet dancers as they were head and shoulders above the other candidates imo.
  14. The barre is there for decoration it’s not a lifeline 😂 If you’re going to do your exam you’re going to have to know what your’e doing (after I fluffed the tendu exercise after weeks of learning it 🤯)
  15. Second this. Leanne is fantastic. My feet are broad across metatarsals and have high arches and Leanne found a lovely pair of shoes for me. She is very thorough and my shoes are comfortable.
  16. Thank you 🙏 I told my teacher about it today and we didn’t use the pointe shoes. A local dance physio attends one of her classes so she’s going to put me in touch with her. Fingers crossed it’ll get sorted soon. Yes ballet can be quite addictive so it can be hard to back off, but I’m leaving the pointe shoes alone until I’ve seen a physio now.
  17. Hello, I’m 46 and I started ballet a year ago so when I bought my first couple of Leo’s quite recently I was looking to minimise the pear shaped look of my lower body. I found capezio and bloch to have a quite modestly cut leg line.
