  1. I’m so glad your ankle has settled and you’re able to carry on with preparing for your exam Viv 🙌💗🩰
  2. Hello Lin, Yes my teacher told me to get some. Yes I have done a year of ballet so I was quite surprised. I’ve just been doing a few releves and roll throughs at the barre and the left ankle is still sore when I go up onto pointe and when I point my toes so I think I’m going to see a dance physio. If anyone knows a good one local to Essex I’d be grateful for a reccomendation.
  3. Yes I saw him in R&J or Nutcracker too, can’t remember which now and he was amazing then too. He’s fabulous.
  4. Just here to say I was there to see Nela/Vadim on Thursday 10th and it was a night I’ll never forget. Pure magic. Nela and Vadim are gifts from god. Also Joonhyuk Jun as Benno 😮😮😮 amazing.
  5. Aww thank you Fiz. I’d done yoga and weights for several years before starting ballet which I think has helped.
  6. Hello! I hope your back settles down soon that must be very frustrating for you. I’m a long way off being ready for the exam I’m thinking next year. I’ve only had one pointe class so far so I’ve not started doing the pointe part of the exam, but yes it does scare me a tiny bit letting go of the barre in pointe shoes. I’m currently trying to get all the barre work slick, work on my pirouettes and on variation 1. It’s a work in progress. Good to meet another person doing the same exam x
  7. Thank you 😊 I’m quite a long way off doing the exam - probably next year but I’m enjoying the preparation process x
  8. Yes thank you my teacher had mentioned that so I know it’s on her radar to prepare me for that xx
  9. Hello! I’m in the process of preparing for my RAD intermediate foundation exam and I’m hoping to sit it at the end of this year or next year. I’m doing 2 classes a week, a one hour private lesson, 2 hours of weights and tracking my calorie and protein intake on my fitness pal with my online personal trainer. I started ballet a year ago now having never danced before and was wondering if there’s anyone on here preparing for the same exam so we could share experiences and tips. Or any teachers that can share wisdom about how best to prepare, how much to practice, how many classes to take, cross training etc. Looking for some RAD intermediate foundation buddies - I’m nosy about how other people prepare for RAD exams 😂🩰
  10. Yes that is so kind of you to reply thank you. I got my first pointe shoes a couple of weeks ago and the back of my ankle was sore after the fitting having tried on lots of shoes. The fitter (Leanne of straight to the pointe) was extremely knowledgeable and spotted my left ankle was turning in and weaker than the right and this is the one that is the most sore. She reccomended a video on her you tube channel for ankle strengthening exercises which includes the same exercises you kindly detailed above. I’ve been doing 16-25 single leg and double leg raises in parallel and then another 25 double leg raises in first twice a day while I brush my teeth which has helped. The pain isn’t really very bad it’s between 0 and 1/10 (I have a high pain threshold and when I ruptured my appendix I said to doctors my pain was 3-4/10 so it’s hard to know how bad it is really). Anyway the exercises have helped heaps thank you 🙏
  11. I’ve heard that Mr Grishko is Ukrainian and his workers are from all over the world. Leanne of straight to the pointe has fantastic stock of Grishko and she’s an amazing fitter. She’s in Essex but does mobile fittings too. I’d highly recommend her.
  12. Gosh that must’ve been frustrating 😭Thank you I’ll hope I’m lucky in Friday rush or manage to snag some returns x
  13. Thanks for the tips Bridiem - I’ve never seen it before so fingers crossed. That’s the only day I can easily do too, so I’m hoping I’ll be lucky. I’m supposing all the cheap balcony seats, SCS and reasonably priced front-ish of amphi get snapped up during the friends booking phase hence why there’s not much left in my price range now.
  14. @Bluebird thank you ☺️ I think I’ll leave it. Wanted to see the scenes de ballet triple bill matinee on 23rd April but all decent cheap seats are gone 😭 and it’s only the first day of public booking. Thought I’d got in early too 😭😭😭
  15. Does anyone know what the view from B73 balcony standing is like please? Thinking of booking for the scenes de ballet triple bill at ROH. Thanks in advance.
  16. @MeetmeatthebarreHello if for any reason the one size skirts don’t end up going I’d love them please xx
  17. Thanks @NeverTooOld@LinnMM I’ve made an appointment with Leanne of Straight to the Pointe next week so I’ll let you know how it goes. She seems super lovely, has a really great reputation and is very local to me so I’m really looking forward to meeting her.
  18. Thank you - Leanne is going to e mail me her availability - happily she lives very local to me 🎉
  19. I’ve messaged Leanne so fingers crossed I’ll get to see her soon. Thank you all for your help. Love this forum 💗
  20. Wide with high arches, high instep and tapered toes with big toe longest. Also I have hypermobility. When flat my feet look like little blocks - square shaped, when pointed the forefoot is more tapered. They’re quite flexible I think as I seem to be able to get in high semi point without too much bother. Hope that makes sense 😂
  21. Thanks heaps for all the valuable info. I’m not expecting my feet to be normal sadly. They’re wide with high instep and high arches and I’ve been told I’ve got hypermobility too so idk if that will affect things. Standing up each of my toes is shorter than the last with the big toe longest so I’ll basically be standing on my big toe en pointe. Pointed my feet slightly taper. I think I’ll have to make a day of it in London as well as seeing the lady based in Essex.
