  1. Yes that would be a good plan but can’t do sun pm 😭
  2. Yes it does! I can do alternate Sundays at Central it will be a bit of a schlep from Essex but sure it will be worth it.
  3. Update: went to David Kierce’s class at Pineapple today. OMG he is so fabulous! He had the whole class simultaneously in stitches, but at the same time terrified of displeasing him. The times of his classes don’t work too well with my childcare and work commitments but by golly it’d be worth rearranging my schedule to make his classes. I left the class thinking ‘bloody hell what just happened there - that was brutal’ and at the same time ‘I loved that when can I do it again’ 😂😊 there was an excellent live pianist too which really made the class.
  4. Update: I went to Capezio and Bloch in Covent Garden today and the staff were so lovely in both stores and even gave me 10% discount for NHS staff. I have to say the service in Capezio was amazing though. Also they have a bargain/sale section in the basement with Leos starting from £5. I now have 4 leotards as am planning to try them on at home and return 2 or 3. I think my favourite is a Bloch Mirella black camisole one with peacock lace trim at the front, sadly it was also the most expensive 😭. Also have a black sheer wrap skirt and some Capezio super soft tights. Job done. I won’t lie I was pretty shocked to find I was a size Large to Extra Large though 😂 Thanks everyone for your help.
  5. Yes it’s suddenly got quite addictive 😂🩰😍
  6. Aww thank you Viv! That’s a really good way of looking at things. My local class starts again after the Christmas break on 10th Jan so we will see how things go. Since I first posted I’ve joined another class (on zoom) thanks to some very kind recommendations from people on here and am going to join a third class a week once things get started again in the new year so hopefully I’ll start to improve more soon. It’s been so encouraging how supportive people have been on here 😊 thank you 🙏
  7. Was it no 5 Linn? If so me too lol 😂 Congratulations to all the winners. Wishing everyone a happy, healthy and prosperous 2022 🎄🤶❤️🩰🎁🎉🎉🎉
  8. Can I ask why your wife doesn’t like the cap sleeves Colman?
  9. So I’ve decided to take the plunge and order a leotard in the sales. Are there any styles or colours that are better or any I should stay away from? Do I go for camisole, tank or cap sleeves? Or does it not matter? Thanks in advance and wishing you all a Merry Christmas x
  10. Thank you for replying Colman. This is a really good perspective for me to remember. I’ve not even been doing this a year so if I was a kid I’d probably still be skipping around the room and doing ‘good toes, naughty toes’.
  11. Thank you Kate I’ll check out City Lit. I did check out RAD, but from memory I don’t think I could do any of the times they were offering. I don’t think my current dance school would allow an adult to do child classes as they already do 2 adult classes a week. I might ask my teacher if she can do some private lessons with me though so I can get the basics sorted.
  12. Thank you that’s good to know. At least it’s not only me 🙏
  13. Thanks heaps for sharing. I couldn’t even put myself on the same zoom call as Vadim or Marianela - maybe in 10 years time. Yes I saw Vadim’s little you tube video ‘A Month in the Country’ with his parents. He’s so lovely, but my main crush is on Marianela, oh and her ex husband Thiago 😍😍😍😍 I’m a straight married woman but still 😂😂😂. Definitely might knock Daniel Craig in Casino Royale off his top spot in my celebrity crush league table 😂
  14. 😂😂😂😂 Lol hilarious this was me in the last 15 mins of class last night. I literally shut the laptop lid in a massive strop 15 mins early which I’d ordinarily never dream of doing. It was so out of character for me. I still feel awful for not staying to the end and thanking the teacher for the class. I literally feel like a bad human being 😭 Fab that’s a done deal then. I’m going to his Sunday Central class at my soonest possibility. Thank you 🙏 Is TBR the ballet retreat? I googled it but no beginners retreats are on there. Fingers crossed they will do one ASAP.
  15. Hello NJH and thank you for your reply. I am very grateful for your suggestion and have found that David Kierce does an absolute beginners class - hooray! Sadly the only one I can get to is Central and even then only alternate Sundays due to kids & work. I’m not sure what the etiquette is about not attending every class once you join a class? Would the teacher be a bit put out by that? maybe I could message him and see if he minds me going alternate weeks. I feel like I need to go on a crash course for a weekend or something just to get the basics sorted. If anyone knows of such a thing for beginners please do share the details 🙏🙏🙏
  16. Wow a masterclass with Marianela and Alejandro 😍😍😍😍 I can but dream I’d ever be that good. I’d be so star struck to be on the same zoom call as them 😮😮😮. What were they like in real life? Please do share details. Thank you for your kind words Tango. That means a lot. I was joking to my husband that ‘I’m the worst ballerina in the village’ his response was ‘yes you are, but God loves a trier’ Harsh, but fair 😂 I’m learning that ballet teaches a thick skin, persistence, humility and patience as well as physical aspects.
  17. Update - worst ever Ballet class by zoom tonight 😭😭😭 my usual teacher was off and we had a different teacher. The teacher was lovely, and we had really nice music, but I absolutely stunk to high heaven. My memory is trash at the best of times, but with all new combos to do I was really struggling. I am okay with being the worst person in every single class I attend as hopefully with some hard work I will improve - it just seems to be taking an awful long time. I’m wondering if there’s a class that’s easier than a beginner class? as even the beginner classes are too hard for me sometimes 😭😭😭😭. When it came to the centre I literally couldn’t follow it so I had to end the zoom 15 mins early and skulk away with my tail between my legs. 😭 Anyway rant over - tomorrow I will stop being a whiny baby, do some practice at home and try to suck a little less next time.
  18. Thanks heaps Kate that is super helpful I’ll start those exercises. Bizarrely enough it’s only my left Achilles that’s sore. The right is okay 🤷‍♀️
  19. Thank you Lin. There is World of Dance in Chelmsford where I got my shoes (So Danca) so I could try there. I’m in Covent Garden on 13th Jan seeing R&J (yay!) so I’ll try the shops you very kindly suggested then. I’ll have a try on and see - if I look utterly ridiculous in a leotard I’ll be sticking to my gym kit 😂
  20. Aww Thanks Linn - cancer is all gone now thank heavens. It’s fabulous you’ve returned to ballet that must feel amazing. I’d not danced a step in my life before earlier this year so it’s all new to me. Can you recommend any places to get adult dancewear please? I’m getting a little discomfort in the Achilles when I point my toes and lower back and knee have been sore too so on one hand I was thinking I might not be doing things properly so if the teacher could better see what muscles I’m using by me wearing ballet clothes it might help me out. On the other hand I’m thinking bloody hell Angela you cannot be seriously contemplating leotard and tights at the age of 45 nobody wants to see that 😂😂😂🤢
  21. Yass! I’d definitely need to cover that zone (bottom and upper thighs). I’m a size 10 but still …. I’m sure nobody in class wants to see that zone of me 🤢🤢🤢😂😭
  22. Hello NJH thank you for replying. Yes I’ve been going to Hannah Frost’s zoom classes for last few weeks and she definitely keeps an eye on everyone. While I want to make it as easy for her as possible to see what I’m doing the sight of a 45 year old woman in tights and a leotard is possibly more than other members of the class could bear 😂 that is I’d wear it if it was necessary but it’d take some time for me to not feel self conscious. Im in reasonable shape but still….. Not in my 20s anymore 😭 As for bosom next to non existent sadly 😭 A/B if that and half of one got removed last year for cancer.
  23. Hello everyone, I’m just wondering what everyone would recommend wearing to adult beginners ballet class? I’ve only started ballet in September and have been going in my gym kit thus far (black leggings, sports bra and sleeveless tank top). This is what everyone at my local class here is Essex is wearing, but I joined an online beginners class at Pineapple and noticed some people are wearing proper ballet clothes. Going forward I don’t want to turn up looking like I’m not taking it seriously enough to kit myself out properly, but at the same time don’t want to be ‘all the gear and no idea’ 😂 Is there a reason why ballet clothes (tights, skirt and leotard) are better than just gym clothes? Is it easier for the teacher to see what we are doing in proper ballet clothes? Or am I good just to stay in my gym kit? Also where is everyone getting their dancewear from? And do ladies wear a bra under the leotards? (tbh I’ve not got much there in chest dept anyway 😭) sorry for so many questions, but if anyone could give me a heads up on all this I’d be extremely grateful 😊
  24. Aww thanks Emeralds 😊 - who were the casts for the two you attended?
