  1. Wait list for us too. Feeling like the list must be quite long.
  2. Those that got kept for physio definitely thought they were the ones going to get places!
  3. From what I could gather there is a mixture of solos with some choreographing their own dance (which we did too), some festival pieces and some teacher created dances. Exactly what they are looking for is difficult to know, so don't take it too much to heart.
  4. Edinburgh Festival Ballet School is planned to open this year! For 16+ Auditions April
  5. Absolutely go along and enjoy a fun class. My dd came out grinning. There are large numbers applying ,over 300 a couple of years ago mostly for the monthly Sunday classes. Better odds if you can manage to Glasgow for the weekly ones.
  6. Scottish Ballet junior auditions are quite relaxed. A mix of all different kinds of dancers. Everything is well explained and not very technically difficult. At Grade 2 I would think everything asked will be familiar.
  7. Go for it! As you say good experience and you never know.
  8. Looks like Scottish Ballet have taken notice and are offering associate places to P5 this year as well as P6 and 7 the same as the new Royal Ballet Associates. Applications have just opened for Scottish Ballet Associates.

  10. For any parents hanging out while auditions are taking place. Really recommend Jack and Alice's just at the bottom of the drive.
  11. Applications are high for both courses and places are limited. Not sure of exact stats but i think about 300 applicants for mids places with Scottish Ballet last year. So I would go for both initially and see where it takes you.
  12. The dance shop Edinburgh stocks a wide variety of Pointe shoes and fittings are first come first served, no appointment needed. Very knowledgeable and thorough.
  13. A leotard that is comfortable and doesn't encourage lots of fidgeting. If getting something new try wearing it for a class first to see how it feels on.
  14. There are quite a range of abilities in the audition. Everything is well explained and yes it takes the form of a class. Enjoy it and show the panel how much you love dancing.
  15. Competition for mids places is high as only 5 centres offer mids where junior classes are offered in 8 centres.
  16. Most of the children seem to love the audition class and come out smiling and excited so a lovely experience if you just treat it as a fun day out. As to whether or not a place will be offered, it is difficult to guess but as others have said a no is really a not yet and try not to be put off if it is what you dream of.
  17. No idea exactly how they choose from all the wonderful dancers that apply but an obvious love of dance is important at junior level.
  18. Results come out by centre, Newcastle was first I think?
  19. The numbers are very difficult to work out and i got a similar answer when i asked how many places there are. They take who they want. There must be a maximum number depending on the size of the studio. I didn't realise at the start of this journey that it is not a whole new intake each year as some younger ones already have places for the following year making the chances of a place even smaller.
  20. I agree they look nice but some of the RBS teachers are very particular about shoes having single elastic.
  21. I met someone recently who is travelling from Scotland for associates in London. Huge commitment!
  22. Edinburgh to Newcastle takes an hour and a half. From there the metro takes up to about 20 mins to Byker where the centre is.
