  1. It certainly seemed to me as if you were comparing Claudia’s actions to those of Polunin.
  2. Claudia Dean went home because her mother was fighting cancer and subsequently died. She left because she felt she had spent too much time away from her family. Then she took up teaching. The two cases are not comparable.
  3. With so many nasty viruses going around, perhaps Miss Padjak was feeling unwell?
  4. @HopelessMummy I found them on ABE but they aren’t cheap plus it’s nearly £15 postage as they are in Australia.
  5. Is it me or is people’s behaviour in public getting even worse than it was? It seems that some of them go out of their way to be as rude and hurtful as possible. I’m so sorry for those who have experienced it. It leaves a sour taste to what should be a great experience.
  6. Is anyone else as thrilled as I am that Anna Rose, who wanted to join the Royal Ballet Company from a very young age, seems to be having her every ballet dream come true? I’m sure that she has worked insanely long and hard to achieve them.
  7. I wonder if it is because dancers are encouraged to be proactive about strengthening and having better advice by physiotherapists and about nutrition etc?
  8. Many thanks and love to the mods for all their dedication and hard work plus the determination of those who worked to resurrect this forum. I for one was heartbroken at the idea of no more Ballet Co. My sympathies to the family and friends of John Mallinson and a Merry Christmas to all Ballet Coers!
  9. Perhaps @Picturesinthefirelight can enlighten us but I promise that it was true when my daughter auditioned for musical theatre colleges ten years ago.
  10. If I do go, it will be for my beloved ballet dancers and nothing else. With all due respect to Andrew Lloyd Webber fans, all musical theatre schools state as part of their audition briefing “No Andrew Lloyd Webber songs as musical theatre song!” for a reason.
  11. When my dds studied for LAMDA exams for drama, the place where the exams were taken was the nexus for many schools and private entrants. There were pupils from their drama school, pupils from a few of the local private schools in Cambridge, private entrants from my dds’ ballet school and more. No one thought anything of it. Everyone had done the work and it was up to the examiner to mark them.
  12. I hope that your little dd finds the perfect fit for her, @Astrid.
  13. Yes, Olivia Cowley posted on Twitter yesterday afternoon than she had been felled with D and V, poor thing. 😞
  14. All of this suggests to me that some people who attend live theatre and the cinema see it as an extension of their living room so they can and do behave as they like. My eldest daughter talks non stop over T.V. in a way she would never do and does not do in the theatre or the cinema. Perhaps people should be reminded that they are not at home and cannot behave in the way they would do there.
  15. Last night was pure joy. There is very little that I can usefully add except that I too was impressed again by the principals and thought that Annette Buvoli danced Prayer beautifully. I shall keep an eye out for her in future.
  16. It’s been pretty dire this year and it may be the last year we bother with it.
  17. We thought Carlos Acosta was in a completely different league from the professional dancers on Strictly. He held himself like a dancer and was clearly in command from his very first step. I was wryly amused by the comments on the BBC website which varied between “What’s so special about him?” to “The professional dancers were better”. Uh huh..
  18. No, Peanut. I was offered a scan after I broke my knee and I thought it might be a good idea.
  19. Osteopenia is less serious than osteoporosis but left untreated will progress to it.
  20. I am sorry to see this, @Pups_mum I hope it gets better soon. I’ve been checked and I do have osteopenia but my G.P doesn’t want me on those awful drugs yet, thank goodness. I’m taking massive calcium and magnesium pills and eating cheese and milk in the hope it helps. My mother ladled it down me when I was growing up. She’d be upset to know it wasn’t as helpful as it should have been. I think the reason I’m still having problems is because it’s a hinge joint. What a sorry lot we are!
  21. Thank you, Peanut. I don’t think so somehow. Time is not on my side.
