  1. I personally think exam spacing should be determined individually for each child rather than a class plan. However as your dd is at 2 high class associate programmes she will be getting plenty of teaching elsewhere. I would seek the opinion of your associate teachers.
  2. They usually have very little space so practical gifts as mentioned above are great. Photo frames are lovely and personal but check they can hammer in walls or have adequate space to use stands. I would get her less rather than more and use the money to send goodie parcels over the term instead once you've seen the space she has. 2 non sexy practical gifts are a clip on lamp for bunk or cabin beds and a divided cleaning trug which the girls use to transport toiletries.
  3. There was adequate food at BW this year Pictures - phew! I think maybe in the past they weren't used to having residential totally dependant younger dc. Anyhow, dd once again loved it there - they get worked very hard.... DD filled me in on where your dd has been - that's very disappointing - food is so important
  4. Thrilled for you all! Well done!
  5. That potentially looks like a good school - RAD is a good syllabus. They have a good range of ballet classes. Personally I would phone and talk to the teacher to get a feel for the place and maybe observe a lesson? At age 4 the main issue is whether your dd will be happy there. Maybe you could ask to watch a DVD of their show?
  6. Hi - we're trying to get on top of US audition photos. Central have no current or previous photo information on their web site. Can anyone remember what photos they've needed in the past? Many thanks!
  7. The forum is fairly quiet currently but I'm sure there will be someone eventually who can help.
  8. That's fantastic! Well done!
  9. There has been a thread about alternatives to Jet Glue. I'll see if I can find it. I think it is partly a brand issue. There are other threads if you search under Jet Glue.
  10. What fantastic news! So thrilled for you and your dd!! Congratulations!
  11. Just to say we went today and the fitter was fantastic - knowledgeable, great communication and good range of shoes. Would really recommend them.
  12. Hi Liv56, My dd went around 3 years ago a couple of times and really enjoyed it. The dancing included ballet/contemporary /jazz. There were around 20-25 in each group I think. I'm not sure how the groups are allocated. There's a performance showing class work at the end. My dd found it very friendly. The rooms at Elmhurst are 2 beds but I think one time my dd had one to herself. There is an evening programme including a Q and A session with some dancers from BRB. Food is good. I'm sure you'll have a lovely time!
  13. DD shoes have no darning at all! Very quick...
  14. Yes any colour seems to go with bags!
  15. Yes my dd got to dance with the current students at SS last week. She said their standard was high - bit vague. They did ballet/rep/contemporary and body conditioning. There is a thread on here for BW questions which some current students respond to. Maybe try there?
  16. Another option is KS Dance in Warrington - they have a Dancer's Course and a Classical Course both leading to the Trinity Diploma and they do teaching quals as well.
  17. That's a good point taxi. In my above posts Rambert has self corrected - sorry. An alternative option is the RAD BA Degree in teaching.
  18. Katie** I think you will find decisions easier to make if you know what your dd wants to do in the future. If she wants to perform professionally then that would be a lot more likely from a place such as Ramsey or Trinity Laban. My understanding from the threads that have been on here are that most university courses do not have enough high level technical training to support such a career although I'm happy to be corrected! Why not ask the Associate teacher for their opinion on your dd chances of getting into Ramsey etc? Good luck! My dd is same age and it's a minefield. ....
