    Jet Glue

This is a very useful thread. Could a mod maybe tag it jet glue/shellac/pointe shoes? Thanks very much!!
  3. Regarding orthotics both the physio we saw (rec above) and my friend who is a podiatrist BOTH told us to buy ready made insoles. They said in dd case they would be as good as expensive personally made ones although I realise this may not be the case for everyone. My dd uses Scholl ortho heel regular orthotic size Small. Her feet are 2 1/2 and narrow. Get in Boots. Another related problem is that so many girls school shoes (even Clarks) have completely flat, unsupportive, thin insoles.
  4. Yes almost the same scenario with my dd Anna - it's common and easily sorted.
  5. I can recommend a dance physio called Julia Fisher who does sessions in Manchester. She has been fabulous with my dd. http://www.csp.org.uk/physio2u/practices/julia-fisher-physiotherapy-clinic
  6. These are brand new and unworn. Bought in bulk and now feet have changed!! 1 shoe has Bloch elastorib ribbon sewn on!
  7. Got everything crossed for you Margarite. I think the solo going well is a good sign 😊

    Thank you

Absolutely thrilled to hear that RichieN! Your dd must be so talented to get to WL finals. Am so pleased to hear she is thriving!!
  9. Does anyone know if any of the online dance stores do gift vouchers? Can't seem to find any!! Thanks!
  10. Could you apply for Hammond Associates? I think you may've done last year but definitely worth another go..... Remember vocational training is funded by MDS for some lucky people. ..
  11. Oh dear I'm stalking the postman again.... Life goes round in cycles..... Has anyone heard from Central yet from the 29th? Also can anyone from last year remember if preliminary results come by email or post?
  12. Hi I am local to you and if you want to PM will probably be able to comment on the schools
  13. Hi Claire welcome to the forum! If your daughter is keeping up she's probably in the correct class. The ages are for guidance and although there may be minimum ages for taking an exam it doesn't mean your daughter can't be working at that level.
  14. I think the ballet sizing is downright dangerous. It runs the risk of telling vulnerable young dancers that they're a lot bigger than they actually are.
  15. DD thinks the lower end was around 5ft 1 or 2? Not sure about other end? BlueLou just go for it - ballerinas are getting taller......
  16. My dd thinks it was so when they were lined up at the barre they could see everyone. ...
  17. My dd school sent it separately. We marked the application 'reference to arrive under separate cover'. HTH.
  18. Just to say my dd went to the Central audition in Glasgow at the weekend. It was fairly relaxed and friendly. There were 16 female and 2 male dancers. There was a 1 1/2 hour ballet class (about Inter to Adv 1 level) followed by a basic contemporary class. (DD has done only a small amount of contemporary and found it fine.) They were numbered in height order smallest first. The girls wore leotards of various colours - some camisole, some cap sleeved. Mostly single colour leotards, not much lace etc. From what I saw most wore discreet/low key make-up but some wore none. Sorry can't remember what boys wore but must've been fairly standard as I didn't notice! They were told results would be out soon!! I am happy to answer any questions if I can.
  19. Badballetmum there are many great choices mentioned above. If it works for you a residential one is great fun and builds independense skills.
