  1. I can see my Balcony ticket for tomorrow’s Manon has just gone back for resale for anyone really keen to see Fumi and Vadim.
  2. Well unfortunately another triumph it looks like I will be missing. I seem doomed to have a winter without any ballet ( either watching or doing!) Having not had a sign of a cold for over a year…. I’ve now got a really bad cough and cold which has come on over the weekend!! I can’t see it improving enough in time for me to come up to London tomorrow and not cough consistently throughout the performance 😬 so looks like sadly I will be missing tomorrows Manon. My aim now will be to make either March 7th Swan Lake for Corrales return or March 8th Manon for Hayward ( my original first choice) but now also Campbell’s final performance ….or even both!! Though realise getting a ticket for March 8th is probably going to be rarer than finding fairy dust! I can see my top price rule may now be just about to go out of the window 😳
  3. Yes I’ve stood next to Mayara and was surprised how small she is …at least 3-4 in’s smaller than me I would guess!! So perhaps 5ft 3-5?
  4. Peter S ….I wasn’t proposing them to perform in the main house at ROH but to be somewhere like Sadlers Wells. If Sadlers Wells wasn’t available this year I’d rather have waited another year to see them. If it should turn out like you surmise and we all get the tickets at the Linbury that we want then no problems of course …panic over!! But I think Ashton has a certain following and not just in London. I don’t sit in restricted view seats these days for ballet unless very minor so although I do like the Linbury if you can get a reasonable seat it’s not the best venue for sight lines so am not that hopeful to be honest though hope you are proved right!
  5. My experience is that when performances are sold out any returned tickets can resell within 10 mins of appearing!!
  6. I still can’t get over what a stupid idea it was to put the Sarasota company in the Linbury 😡
  7. Songs of a Wayfarer would be perfect! Love this ballet.
  8. I often find that if the first performance you see in a run is exceptional it’s very hard to get that out of your head at other performances and to engage to the same degree etc. Looking forward to this on Tuesday. Am intrigued by the “three stairs down” to the old part of the house …not sure where this is but sounds a bit “twilight zone” 😳
  9. Hi Sim would love to say hello at some point but not there tonight …my post was referring to being there next Tuesday (27th)!! Quite a few friends there tonight (not on Forum) all very excited of course!
  10. My first live ballet since Northern Ballet on Nov 1st!
  11. Just had a quick scan only £175 for March 7th But out of interest I could see a range of prices from £14 upwards for April 27th matinee ( that I can’t go to anyway) and went in just to see an illusive standing ticket for sale!! One left!
  12. I returned a Manon ticket recently and it was back on the website within 2 mins and sold again in 10 mins!! I did phone it in though.
  13. The Rambert Piece was Soundance …a Cunningham Piece but the music was electronic!! Soundance a bit of a misnomer I must say. Luckily less than 20 mins long. The next piece on the programme that day was Rooster so from despair to joy pretty quickly! Sorry am diverting away from ENB!
  14. I just remember this mad dash at the end of a performance from the Amphi down to lower box levels where the flowers were!! And trying not to hit anybody!!
  15. The only other piece that has bothered me almost as much as Creature was a Rambert Piece which seemed to be composed of loud insect and other buzzing noises …I think was called something like Creation …so a sort of Primeval feel. The dancing was superb when I could concentrate on it but as I had an end of row seat ( Theatre Royal Brighton) I was just about to get up and go outside the auditorium to relieve the pressure for a bit when it finished so only a shortish piece luckily! Certainly seemed to disturb something primeval in me …run as fast as you can!!
  16. Oh I see ….that must be just a little painful for him then. I’d loved to have seen him as Oberon again.
  17. Well when you get to the age where the reality is you could depart this mortal coil at fairly short notice Life really is too short to be subjected again to the sound torture that was Creature!!!
  18. But isn’t this because of the new job? He is starting this from April so would have been difficult to cast him in the Ashton or the later Swan Lakes etc.
  19. Good luck with your operation MAB It’s a long time since I’ve been involved in a flower throw but I can’t remember the Company being that involved in it. We mostly used to throw from the boxes and seem to remember ( but possibly incorrectly) negotiating leaving the flowers in there for the end of the performance. I think it was mostly ballet “fans” who organised it but in those days the flower market was still in Covent Garden so close at hand for buying flowers. There may have been a “chief” organiser but can’t remember and/or whether they were directly connected to the Company or not.
  20. There are quite a few RB dancers who can do Sambe gravity defying jumps!!
  21. Alex Simpkins is my teacher at the City Lit! I really love his classes he has a nice balance between technique and artistry though exam classes may be different of course!
  22. At this point in time I don’t think Daichi Ikarashi has anywhere near the same degree of stage presence as Corrales has. He is still very young though and although very good technically for me hasn’t yet acquired that “extra something”
  23. Just read this on Facebook. Lovely for him and may be the reason not seeing him cast so much recently
  24. It’s quite hard to find RAD classes where adults can do exams out of London. It also depends which RAD exam you were thinking of taking. If there’s any chance you live near enough to Battersea to get to RAD Headquarters the adult classes there will allow you to take exams. If you are at Intermediate level or above you might be able to join the older teenagers at this level in a local ballet school. There is quite a lot of adult ballet going on in Surrey especially around the Woking area but not so many classes geared to exams etc.
