  1. I’m sure Corrales jealous writhing will be captivating though( if it is Leontes he is cast as!)
  2. Well thanks Silke…you learn something new every day Just checking!
  3. I will no doubt probably find that one or other of their songs is some old favourite lol but just can’t recall any song at all at the moment!!
  4. I don’t know what that funny little face next to Lukas name in my post is! I just put Lukas B ( because couldn’t remember how to spell his surname) so not sure how the B became a face!!
  5. I have to say am amazed at the popularity of the Pet Shop Boys had no idea they were such a thing!! Im afraid they passed me by when in their prime so am even less interested now! Id much prefer more visiting ballet or dance companies at ROH in August.
  6. Cesar at last!!…. and not in the role I was expecting so that’s one I want to see and has Hayward as Perdita …. Just surprised she’s not dancing this with Corrales …..plus the Kaneko Muntagirov Pantuso cast. Can hopefully catch the encore cinema cast in this as well. I haven’t attended a lot of cinema relays but really enjoyed Manon this afternoon and it is a way of seeing another cast if standing not available etc. Thanks again for posting Capybara.
  7. I really enjoyed the encore of last Wednesdays Manon this afternoon in the Duke of Yorks cinema in Brighton. This was to be a sort of “consolation” prize for not being able to go on Saturday but it turned out to be more of a “main” prize after all. I wasn’t expecting to see this cast but very glad I did! It’s awhile since I’ve seen Osipova and even longer since seen Reece Clarke and not seen them together before. Both were however fantastic together and hope this is the beginning of the latter beginning to reveal his more dramatic side as has always been a fine purely classical dancer. I’ve certainly never seen him perform like this before. Osipova was amazing as always and definitely still at the very top of her game! I particularly liked them in the first big pas de deux but the final one was riveting as well and almost felt as exhausted as them by the end. I did wonder what on Earth des Grieux was going to do without Manon as so completely led by his relationship with her. Campbell gave a truly commanding performance as Lescaut… glad to see he was on top form too as it’s a while since seen him on the main stage. Magri was perfect as his mistress and the “drunken” pas de deux came off really well….surely won’t be long before Magri has a chance at Manon I think she will be great in the role. Avis almost unrecognizably sleazy and mean in his surety that he will be denied nothing ….and the gaoler (Lukas …well I almost let out a “yes” when Des Grieux stabbed him … thoroughly deserved to die …and Des Grieux showing he could take a decisive and finite action when circumstances demanded it! Manon has never really been one of my favourite ballets and it’s some years since I’ve seen it but this viewing has definitely whetted my appetite for Kaneko and Muntagirov in the main roles in a couple of weeks time. I can now see why Osipova and Clarke enjoy dancing together. In a way they are complete opposites but it definitely works for them both. Such a shame only about 20 of us in the cinema this afternoon but suppose a mid week afternoon is never going to be hugely busy for a ballet not that well known outside regular ballet circles and many who would have been interested in going probably can’t get there on a weekday afternoon. It deserved a Sunday showing to perhaps get more people familiar with it who might go and see it again.
  8. Thanks for those great reviews Nogoat! I’d like to see this. It’s just a thought and probably impractical in any sort of scheduling terms but I wonder if a ballet more suited to smaller venues could work at Almeida Theatre in Islington? I don’t know the theatre mentioned in Bath and whether it’s smaller even or bigger than Almeida but would make a change from Linbury.
  9. Ha ha Tango Dancer I definitely look significantly better with more clothes on these days anyway!! I think “au naturel” definitely suits the under 30’s more unless of course you are a member of a top ballet company like the RB!
  10. I do hope so!! I was wondering what Cesar might be cast in. There are so few performances for there to be much experimentation. I think Cesar would make a very interesting Oberon ( against type) but know most won’t agree with this but the limited performances means probably only people who’ve performed the role before. There’s the second Act of Winters Tale I suppose ( with the lovely tree).
  11. I think the short performance time really favours people who are working more in central London or happen to be around there that day etc …so can go on to after work before going home. I will miss this now anyway as not in London until 27th but was only half hearted about going as am not sure about this up close and personal stuff. I seem to remember there was an Art show somewhere where the entrance into it was between two naked people standing fairly close together 😳
  12. I just briefly mentioned ( on wrong thread) about Cesar. I was hoping he might get another Swan Lake in June but not to be. So he has just two Swan Lakes and is not in the triple. I wonder what he could be cast in for remainder of the summer season. I hope he is deemed to be fit to return anyway. At least I can make the Tuesday performance of Takada and Sissens so can book this and if Takada should not dance I won’t have seen Sissens or Sasaki in these roles so should be okay anyway. BBB …..talking of OHP just trying to book a senior performance with a friend over from Oz in June and we were thinking of 29th evening but of course it doesn’t say yet whether Juniors or seniors performing that evening. Going by last year I don’t suppose you know if it will be more or less the same this year?
  13. Yes I wasn’t expecting to see the cinema relay so a bit of a bonus especially as everyone here has been very favourable about it! Just to say my Balcony ticket for next Saturday matinee has gone back on sale about one minute ago!!!
  14. Thankyou Alison. Because it’s a slightly more expensive ticket (D.36 in Balcony) than most Forum readers like at £99 I didn’t advertise it here but as soon as I see it go back into sale I will mention it just in case anyone interested. It seems ages since seen Hayward but at least she is in my Distant Drummer Cast in April. I know keep harping on about it but am still a bit worried about Cesar Corrales. As he has just the two Swan Lakes ( I was hoping for one in June) at the moment and is not cast in the triple and am just wondering what he could be cast in once in Summer season? But perhaps for another thread.
  15. Unfortunately I have had to return my ticket for next Saturday matinee’s Manon ( Hayward cast) as the travel both that Saturday and Sunday is just too problematic with two replacement buses via Haywards Heath and Three Bridges plus train and will take two and a half hours ( instead of one hour). I was also told there’s still a shortage of replacement bus drivers so there might be some waiting around involved. This was to be my first trip up to London since my accident so a bit nervous anyway so decided in spite of a great cast the pain would be more than the gain! However all is not lost as discovered yesterday that the encore cinema showing of last Wednesdays Manon performance is on in Brighton on Tuesday afternoon so will be going to that with a ballet friend instead 🙂 Have still got Fumi and Vadim to look forward to on the 27th and weekdays are usually okay for travel!
  16. Why do you say that PeterS? Are you suspecting Takada won’t be dancing in June even though it’s just been announced?
  17. Well not really brave! I don’t know the ballet and how the characters will be brought out by Inger So going to the opening night is a calculated guess that if will be a very good cast ….even if not Frola lol!
  18. Okay it’s now showing all the dates in June and its just for these dancers Thanks Capybara for posting this.
  19. When I try to open there seem to be three files but all showing the same three dates Are there any performances by other dancers than on these three dates: Osipova/Clarke, Takada/Sissons and Calvert Edmonds?
  20. Certainly not a happy story!! Have memories of first year at College reading!!!
  21. Gosh hurry up Hammond!! I’m just an observer and can hardly bear the suspense waiting for everybody to hear about whether their DD’s and DS’s have got places or not!
  22. Not Carmen related but ENB just posted to say will be announcing their 2024-5 season one week from today!
  23. Thanks for that Buddy! Yes there are quite a lot of competitors at a very similar standard so interesting who they choose for the final 20… definitely some are more obvious choices than others. I noticed the Ukrainian girl always got rapturous applause from the audience but not sure if it was purely for dancing skills or whether it was because she was from Ukraine and may have been dancing in difficult circumstances. She didn’t make final 20 anyway and I thought she might.
  24. Even circle seats in Row A at the Dome for Ballet Theatre U.K. are only £19-50. I’m paying £16 for the Circle central back row as the view is good from almost anywhere upstairs except on extreme sides.
