  1. Well it does look like quite a few regular Forum writers were up at the Wells yesterday for NYCB first night. But just hope somebody saw this. Lovely pics as always RobS …at least some record it actually happened lol!
  2. Very disappointed to see nothing at all still about last nights performance with Magri and Corrales. Now I know Nunez and Muntagirov can be in a league of their own sometimes but was it that uninspiring last night 🫣🤔 Or was everybody at the Wells?
  3. But what would be the point of offering MDS funding to somebody who doesn’t need it? I know this won’t be in the majority of cases but if awards are given out before parental income is known it just seems a bit strange to me. Also if the registration fee for a place has been paid but then the student cannot accept the place ( for lack of funding) is this reimbursed?
  4. Yes if you can do both I would suggest the ENB as a starter and he might identify with the younger dancers more. However if you can only do one trip right now then a good seat at ROH ( as you are suggesting) would be fine.
  5. I’d love to see Hayward and Bracewell!!
  6. There are two performances that day so presumably the evening one? Thats Hayward and Bracewell. The afternoon is Sasaki and Sissens Should add my partner kindly entered this for me yesterday though he probably won’t go himself so a treat for a friend ….if get lucky!!
  7. You do not say where in the House the ticket is!!
  8. Perhaps there are no posters because there are only six performances!
  9. Yes it was the Dante Sonata programme I most wanted to see. I might go for a return for the other programme with Facade (on the Thursday) nearer the time though.
  10. I’d be really worried that I could be heard from the stage too lol! Imagine both Cesar and Mayara thinking who is that damn woman coughing ….Id fear an aptly directed murderous look out into the auditorium……….
  11. Thanks so much Sim …I’m stoically resigned to it being Spring now before my ballet season opens this year! Am feeling a little chuffed at mo as got a ticket for Sarasota today ( via a friend Friend) so am not too disheartened and will definitely be looking forward to a dark brooding Cesar in The Winters Tale!!
  12. Well won’t make Cesars return tomorrow as not quite there yet with the coughing…can’t rely on not having a coughing fit before an interval break and Id be mortified to get a coughing fit at some really sensitive moment in the ballet which is nearly always when it does happen of course! Am looking forward to hearing some reports back on that performance in particular but of course all the others as well….seems ages until May 9th!! Happy viewing ( or should I say tearful viewing) to those going tonight when the new run opens. Bet the House will be buzzing!
  13. It always seems like an awful lot of money to pay to me to risk one’s view being blocked. I once sat in Row A on extreme right hand side but this was a return for an RBS show so was a very happy bunny though couldn’t always see the feet if dancers came too far forward on the stage but seeing their happy young faces so close up more than made up for it! I wouldn’t pay £175 though no matter how close I was!
  14. Yes I do think at least a few tickets at least should be held for the public booking day and hopefully that will be the case. However I’m very happy with my ticket as it’s not a badly restricted one and feel relieved I will be definitely getting to see them.
  15. I rarely do this as think I should be prepared to pay the Friends fee if want early booking etc but I did get the help of a Friend today to see Sarasota ballet. On the three possible nights put forward only restricted view were still available and these were for mid week performances. I’m only going the once but it’s one of the better restricted views (£25) so am pleased I did text a Friend on this occasion (after alerts from the Forum this morning) as am pretty sure there will be hardly any tickets at all left by public booking. I was wondering whether the Peacock Theatre could have been suitable for Sarasota if planned well enough in advance.
  16. Almost anywhere between D.23 to D.40 is good standing I think I’ve noted D.28 to 33 as being the very best of all but others may think differently! I don’t like the extreme ends so not D1-5 or the upper end D.50 as I’m taller and think those ends are harder for anyone over 5ft 8ins!! If I’m in those I sometimes stand flattened against the back wall but this only comfortable for a while so tend to avoid as it’s bad enough standing now at my advanced age and have already ruled out standing for Sleeping Beauty or Swan Lake again (except for exceptional circumstances) only because it’s longer than an hour before a break!! D.10 is also blocked a bit with a pillar too. But I do think your standing ticks are okay and if younger than 65 you will be fine!!!

    Room 101

I agree! I have sat in this seat before but would not sit there when charging nearly double the price it sometimes is.

    Room 101

Just wondering what people think of this. When advertising tickets for sale on the Forum should it be said if the ticket is restricted view? There’s been one advertised this week which is very annoying to sit in because although view from seat is only partially restricted so many people along the line ahead have to lean forward to see so in the end makes it much more restricted than it may appear. The seat is still over £100 so a bit of a cheek really for ROH to charge that anyway but people may assume it’s a normal view if nothing is said when advertising it.
  19. Two new Nutcrackers next season then!! Will make up for not being able to see it at all in 2023!!!
  20. Well I think you will very much enjoy it!! I remember the first time I saw Swan Lake over 50 years ago now that one of the things that struck me (apart from the dancing itself) was just how much wonderful music there was I’d never heard before as only ever a couple of tracks were played on the radio at the time. I suppose these days as there is so much video etc available this might not be such a surprise but hope you fall in love with at least one section you’ve never heard before!
  21. Thanks Jan for info links. Looks like I won’t be able to see them this year unless perhaps can manoeuvre a trip to Canterbury perhaps …we haven’t done a “Kent” trip for a few years now!!
  22. When I looked into my account I found I’d already signed up for offers etc.🙄 It’s just I’ve never had any from the ROH only emails inviting me to spend more money whilst in the ROH at the ballet to enhance my experience!
  23. My old childhood route up to London and used regularly as an adult in the years between various cars when visiting parents!
