  1. Cesar could be a great actor/dancer though I know he’s keen to do the classics as well. His sometimes ( not always) rather heavy landings have some compensation in his beautiful feet ( as believe Fiona M mentioned up thread). I hope he doesn’t lose that wonderful bountiful enthusiasm of his with all this injury which must knock your confidence a bit.
  2. Cesar Corrales is that exciting dancer in the Royal. It is just such a shame he has been so injury ridden. I was gutted some years back when heard he was leaving ENB as thought he was most exciting dancer had seen for ages and now he was leaving!!! So joy was restored once knew was joining RB However since then he seems only to have had half a career and it takes a while each time to dance at full strength when returning. I can see why those who did not see him earlier at ENB may not rate him but I’m really hoping he can come into his own in the next season.
  3. So many posts since but hope your back is better soon Sim. This winter has definitely been a test in stoicism in one form or another! If make it on Friday will find you all….hopefully …though there are three sets of stairs down from Floral Hall!!!
  4. You have my sympathy Richard LH am so very glad do not get these “classic” migraines any more preceded by the dreaded visual disturbance. I even saw a depiction of my aura in one of Oliver Sacks books!! Luckily they stopped in my early 50’s but were a scourge for many years from the age of 14 about every 3 months or so. Hope all is well for you by Friday which I think will be a very special performance!!
  5. I’ve booked but not received any offers. Had no idea that you could or how to sign up for offers….as otherwise why wouldn’t you?
  6. I did have a vague idea who Francisco Serrano was but nevertheless just looked him up to double check!! Well the powers that be must have great faith in him to cast in this role so will be exciting to see what he does with it.
  7. Well done Dawnstar for persevering! I’ve never done Friday Rush as know I couldn’t take all the tension especially as I only ever book one ticket at a time 🙄 Still no pain no gain as my hand physio keeps saying!!
  8. I love your description of trying to wrap the flowers Dawnstar! I’d be in a nervous Twitter if suddenly decided to do that and then panic about exactly what to write on the card lol!! A bit the other way around when I finally got Joe Sissens autograph unexpectedly walking along Floral Street you would have definitely needed a hieroglyphics expert to decipher his writing!!! Perhaps we should have a “guess the dancer” thread where people try to work out autographs Forum members have received over the years!!
  9. I know I’ve always had a soft spot for Joe Sissens (since seeing him in YBSS summer school a good few years ago now) but I just love the photo of Sissens and Sibley standing together at the curtain call …just look at Jo’s face you can tell he feels so honoured …what a lovely memory for him to cherish.
  10. Sibley and Dowell in the Dream are still my favourites in the roles of Titania and Oberon. Never seen anyone as gossamer light as Sibley and Dowell so ethereally aesthetic you really could believe the King and Queen of the Fairy Realm were genuine entities!
  11. So so annoyed to have missed Sibley on stage on her 85th birthday! I saw her in Manon many years ago and still remember her dancing in the final Act.
  12. I just looked up your name Borzoi so just cottoned on that it’s a type of Russian hunting dog. So that should be interesting on stage!
  13. Thanks so much for best wishes regarding missing yet another ballet performance! Usually when I have to cancel a ticket I ring in and was loathe to have to ring in yesterday to explain cancelling yet another ticket. However a friend suggested doing it online via account …so rather nervously (I always expect things to go wrong when doing first time online) went through the process and it was just SO easy! Everything straightforward including the confirmation email etc. So that’s one new thing learned but which I hope I don’t have to do again for a long while! As usual the returned ticket resold within about 20 mins! Hope all going enjoy what I’m sure will be a fantastic performance tonight.
  14. Hope you make it Dawnstar! Am jolly glad didn’t have to go up to London today as severe delays on Brighton to London line earlier today.
  15. Knowing my current run of luck in trying to get to any Ballet performances I’m just waiting to hear there will be a train strike around 27/28th March as the next thing I’ve got booked is Carmen on 27th!!!
  16. I can see my Balcony ticket for tomorrow’s Manon has just gone back for resale for anyone really keen to see Fumi and Vadim.
  17. Well unfortunately another triumph it looks like I will be missing. I seem doomed to have a winter without any ballet ( either watching or doing!) Having not had a sign of a cold for over a year…. I’ve now got a really bad cough and cold which has come on over the weekend!! I can’t see it improving enough in time for me to come up to London tomorrow and not cough consistently throughout the performance 😬 so looks like sadly I will be missing tomorrows Manon. My aim now will be to make either March 7th Swan Lake for Corrales return or March 8th Manon for Hayward ( my original first choice) but now also Campbell’s final performance ….or even both!! Though realise getting a ticket for March 8th is probably going to be rarer than finding fairy dust! I can see my top price rule may now be just about to go out of the window 😳
  18. Yes I’ve stood next to Mayara and was surprised how small she is …at least 3-4 in’s smaller than me I would guess!! So perhaps 5ft 3-5?
  19. Peter S ….I wasn’t proposing them to perform in the main house at ROH but to be somewhere like Sadlers Wells. If Sadlers Wells wasn’t available this year I’d rather have waited another year to see them. If it should turn out like you surmise and we all get the tickets at the Linbury that we want then no problems of course …panic over!! But I think Ashton has a certain following and not just in London. I don’t sit in restricted view seats these days for ballet unless very minor so although I do like the Linbury if you can get a reasonable seat it’s not the best venue for sight lines so am not that hopeful to be honest though hope you are proved right!
  20. My experience is that when performances are sold out any returned tickets can resell within 10 mins of appearing!!
  21. I still can’t get over what a stupid idea it was to put the Sarasota company in the Linbury 😡
  22. Songs of a Wayfarer would be perfect! Love this ballet.
  23. I often find that if the first performance you see in a run is exceptional it’s very hard to get that out of your head at other performances and to engage to the same degree etc. Looking forward to this on Tuesday. Am intrigued by the “three stairs down” to the old part of the house …not sure where this is but sounds a bit “twilight zone” 😳
  24. Hi Sim would love to say hello at some point but not there tonight …my post was referring to being there next Tuesday (27th)!! Quite a few friends there tonight (not on Forum) all very excited of course!
