  1. I'm sorry but your post made me really angry. Anyone who is to busy to discuss a pupil is not worthy of continuing to teach that pupil. I really, really hope that you find a teacher who is worthy of teaching your daughter and I wish you and your daughter every success for the future.
  2. Forgot to say, very good Grischko fitter in Brighton, pm me if you want her details.
  3. I second Judy Breen. DD went to her during her holidays from vocational school, also has attended Brighton Ballet School which is also excellent. Welcome to East Sussex.
  4. I was briefly a Receptionist at secondary school where one of my tasks was Lost Property. After every lunch I would strap lost blazers, jumpers etc to the register with elastic bands, so that they found their rightful owner. For larger items I would send a note via the register and at break the children would come to fetch them. One young man collected his coat and I found it at the end of the same day draped casually over a fence! Worst horrors were the rugby and hockey socks, they were awful, covered in mud, smelly, but this was nothing to the changing rooms at a well known very expensive boys boarding school. I accompanied dd when her school had use of the swimming pool; when I took the children to the toilets there were these little piles of lost swimming trunks, well that's what I think they were, I didn't get too close, I'm shuddering just remembering.
  5. DD very organised but did occasionally leave/loose things. Non dd and utter nightmare and you have my sympathies. Her teacher complained to me at parents evening that she always had to wait to start the lesson as non-dd never had her pencil. I used to keep a pack of pencils in the car and give her one in the morning - can't do that with pointe shoes!!
  6. Hi Alison I hadn't thought of going to a different station. We don't know London that well and always go into Victoria but I will look at what options London Bridge and Clapham Junction give us. Haven't got that appointment again for another 4 months. I think if we'd understood the buses better and had a little more patience then we could have used the bus but I wasn't sure where to get off. Hotel was in Albany Road, Regent's Park way. It was going to be an expensive trip anyway as the appointment was at 10.00 and we would have had to travel during the rush hour, but then there are always the extras, you end up paying for. Breakfast was extortionate at the hotel (as were the drinks in the bar that night) so we found a cafe near the hospital.. It was a very simple journey until the strike!!
  7. Just got back from London. DD had a hospital appointment for 10.00 this morning so we went in last night and stayed over. Originally the start time of the strike (on their web page, can't remember how I found it) was 21.30 which was fine as we could get to the hotel, but then they changed it to 18.30. We tried to get a bus, but the C2 just never seemed to appear so we ended up getting a taxi. Got a bus back to Victoria today once appointment over. There were plenty of people ready to help out at the bus stops and TFL had loads of other people around. We didn't get into London until after 19.30 so it had calmed down a bit! Would not have gone near the place otherwise. Not happy as it's costs us loads but this appointment could not be moved. Thumbs up to the bus drives and taxi drivers who took up the slack
  8. I agree Alison with regards to the "excuse me" and it made me recall my recent journeys in case I hadn't been polite. I didn't get chance to say excuse me to the last lady sitting next to me. I started to gather all my things as she was asleep and the minute i started moving she was out of her seat like a racehorse out the starting gate!! There are some very rude people on the trains, but we met a lovely young man on the tube who was most solicitous of dd and myself making sure we were well inside the doors on a very crowded tube - it was only his second day having just moved to London - hope he continues to be so lovely and that London doesn't rub off on him!
  9. Parents at Graduation ceremonies. We had the usual switch off our phones and not to call out or whistle and to wait and clap at the end speech. I suppose I must let the people next to me off as they were late in and didn't hear this so when next but one stood up and emitted a very loud what sounded like and African war cry and had answered a phone call I couldn't say much - especially as we had already had people calling out - but to everyone else who let out silly noises when their child's name was said and to the people in front of me who kept waving !!!!! at their child I say very bad form. The're not tiny tots on a stage - they are adults!!
  10. East Sussex County Council wanting more money I expect LinMM. They can't bear the thought of anyone parking for free in Lewes.
  11. W/hat lovely and original ideas. I've never been very good at choosing gifts - even for my own family! We bought a big glass vase for DD's ballet teacher when dd left to go to vocational school. She always got flowers after shows, end of term etc.I saw her house once after a show which was also end of year - looked like a florists shop. I have the vain hope that when she uses it she remembers dd
  12. Haha LinMM Made me laugh. Must be a term from where I originate from, to pull the car forward means to just move forward a bit - we also call them islands and not roundabouts!
  13. It also happened to me in Staples when I had a different car which was harder to climb over. I went into the store to ask them to broadcast a message and the assistant was reluctant to do this as she said people get stroppy so I asked her to pull my car forward for me ( she was skinny) and she very kindly did this for me.
  14. Oh gosh, thank you all so much, I will pass on your good wishes to dd. xx
  15. Only wish I had some hair to tear out, it's gone very thin! I have felt so helpless today but have contacted our GP and am registering her as a temporary resident and this will mean she is on the list when she has to re-register so a little time saved.
  16. Do you have to be referred by your GP for this or can you go direct?
  17. Since her MRI scan the consultant has ignored the misaligned healed broken bone and concentrated on a believed Morton's neuroma which has been treated with a steroid injection. DD returned to see consultant today (saw different person) who as the pain has not gone away has not given another injection which dd was hoping for so she could at least finish the year dancing. Surgery seems to be the option. She graduates in three weeks. So we are now going to have to wait whilst she re-registers back here and then wait for the NHS to schedule surgery. She will be retired before she gets a chance to dance. Rant over
  18. May have added this before but people who park so blooming close that I have to get in the passenger side and climb over - no mean feat!
  19. Wonderful news and so well deserved
  20. DD has attended two of the adult/drop in classes on a Thursday morning. I did find the admin a bit hit and miss, The premises are lovely - except the girls toilet which I think is next on the "to do" list (this was Easter last year). The gentleman teacher who took the lesson gave corrections which dd loved and tried to improve her turnout which dd didn't love. He did take the time to try and converse with me at the end of the lesson but not sure what he was saying. DD enjoyed the lessons and doesn't speak a word of Russian and is RAD trained. Another member of staff who also attended one of the lessons was very welcoming she wanted dd to come and watch their show. We are in Sussex and it is quite an expedition to get there and we got confused over which days they were open, which is why we only went twice. Perhaps try a drop in lesson to get the feel? Edited for clarification
  21. We have a dog living next door to us, I rarely hear him bark. I think he's a very tolerant chap as our cat sits on the fence and taunts him. We're in his special "club" - he has this habit of grinning at people which looks quite alarming only does it to his family and us - I feel quite privileged and extremely lucky that he is so well behaved. I would be incapable of living next to yappy dogs
  22. Are you actually eating enough?
