  1. https://www.bedes.org/senior/legat/saturday-associates Places are by audition apparently I can't tell you anything as DD left in 2012 and was a full time pupil anyway Not very helpful I am afraid but hoping bumping the thread may get you some more responses
  2. Happy Birthday and thanks to those in Doing Dance who helped us get through it all
  3. Oh my goodness such very sad news She fixed my daughter as well. We used have a natter whilst the machine did it's work on DD's feet. She was so lovely
  4. Not sure if things have changed but when DD still went en pointe she found a Grishko "maker" she preferred (there was a code inside the shoe) and we always ordered the ones he produced. You you could also make alterations to a shoe including the vamp. At that time the charge per alteration was £5.00 and I presume that charge would be added to each pair when purchased, we didn't make any alterations as unfortunately DD suffered an injury and no longer dances en pointe. Last time we ordered shoes was approximately 5 years ago - still have them - never worn ☹️ Hope this helps

I find WhatsApp invaluable. A group was set up after the death of my mother in law for all the siblings to deal with the sale of her house - still not sold but that's another story - but it does mean we are all in contact with each other all the time - with one sister in law in South Carolina for 2 years we have been able to know she is safe during the tornado season. We have another group just for DH, DD non DD and Non DD's boyfriend and myself - all who live in this house - very useful if we run out of anything or someone needs a lift.
  6. I got the email to verify, and I've just found the link to Facebook so I've shared there x
  7. At a loss for words, signed
  8. My biggest mistake was not buying a 16-25 railcard, could have saved myself loads
  9. Wishing your daughter all the best in whatever course she pursues in life.
  10. I bought one of DD's teachers a vase to put all the flowers that students gave her in
  11. Rant warning. I have just been trying to buy tickets for Australian Pink Floyd for my husbands Christmas present -Brighton Centre next November 2018. Bit cheesed off at the £4.50 booking fee - that's £4.50 per ticket to then have the choice of paying £2.90 to have the tickets delivered 48 hours before the performance so nothing to give my OH Christmas day or £2.55 - to PRINT THEM MYSELF!! So I'm paying for the ink in the printer, the paper and the electricity and also being charged for the privilege of doing it myself. Can't even collect from the venue! Ticketmaster I think you take the biscuit for ripping people off
  12. My eldest daughter and her boyfriend finally wore us down and Orion and Nova arrived on Sunday. Two small black balls of fluff that are so far tearing out our heart strings as Nova (not my cats and I didn't choose the names) has been unwell since his inoculations, de-fleaing and de-worming on Monday - another trip to the vets today for anit-inflammatory injection and he is to have another anti-inflammatory injection with the 2nd part o the inoculations. I had forgotten just how much fun and how cute kittens were. They have yet to meet Tia as we made the decision not to have her inoculated this year as she had a funny reaction last year. She's 14 years old and should be fully protected from the kittens - just not them from her. Keeping fingers crossed it all goes well!
  13. Wishing a speedy recovery to your son
  14. Card Factory - Christmas cards in the shop and it's still August. I love Christmas but not this early!!
  15. So sorry Lisa, hugs winging their way to you.
  16. Non-DD interviewed for a new job within the County Council library service on Monday. Pleased to say she's been offered the position. No more late shifts and no more entitled nasty customers - hurrah and more money!! Downside is she now has to start paying back her student loan
  17. My daughters told me about that and I still had the empty packet and the date was fine and so am I. They just didn't taste the same - perhaps it's a blessing in disguise as I really need to loose weight - always a silver lining
  18. I bought a packet of Maltesers this week, I had a real craving - they weren't as nice as I remember. It must be my age but I'm not enjoying chocolate as much as I used to.
  19. mph Sorry not been on this thread for a very long time. Non-DD has been lucky and works full-time in retail and has done so for some years. She's worked in a call centre, Tesco's filling the trolleys for home delivery, Greggs making sandwiches etc. On one of her days off a week she volunteers at a local historic property as she is hoping this may lead to a more fulfilling occupation. Retail is not a place where I would like to be working at the moment. Her shifts are awful. Last night she worked until 10:00pm, got home 10:30 went to be and had to be in for 08:00 this morning to open up. The latest trend is for customers to complain about a member of staff and they get sent a discount voucher for their next visit. The staff are constantly being treated in an appalling manner by the customers and it is very frustrating as Head Office always take the side of the customer. I can't wait for her to find something more worthwhile. On a positive note it's made me far more aware of how I speak to sales staff - I've always been that way but I make even more of an effort now. She would love to work in a library or be involved in curatorship at a museum or stately home - but unfortunately you need to have taken the appropriate degree. Had she done a joint/split degree in English & History she might have more chance but straight English is not helping her at the moment. It's the gripe I have with education at the moment, not only does it seem everyone needs a degree but it must be the correct degree. On the positive side she has a job and is earning.
  20. Sorry, being very pedantic here but as a Silhillian by birth I have to tell you that Solihull has been in it's position since the 1560's, don't think there's anything "now" about it.
  21. Huge congratulations to a well deserved young man xxx
  22. Me and my other half tried the green syringe device - still didn't manage to get the pill down the cat, well yes we did, down the front of the cat when she spat it out Edited for typo PS why can't I use the smiley faces?
  23. Hi LinMM East Hoathly is not that far away, so worth looking into. Her meow is virtually back now and she seems fine. It was a long lasting antibiotic as we can't get tablets down her so I think she's over it. She's quite fit otherwise (touching lots of wood)
  24. Latest trip to the vets - £92.00!! Kept us waiting half an hour, the room absolutely stank from the previous cat. And I really wish I saw the same vet - they all seem to have just graduated from Vet School. Having said this she was very thorough and Tia had antibiotics and anti-inflammatory injections she has some sort of respiratory infection. She has the most weird meow at the moment - but her runny eyes and nose have cleared up. If we could get tablets down her then it would have been less expensive. At age 14 we're not taking any risks with her. We don't have pet insurance - does anyone have any experience/can recommend a good plan or is it just a bit too late to take out now?
  25. DD also dislikes bunhead pins. Extremely lucky that we have a local ballet shop who stock a different make.
