  1. Thanks LinMM - it was Eastbourne and Polegate as well, but they got water restored first - we had to wait a little longer! Should this happen to you (heaven forbid) there's shower/bath at your disposal.
  2. Water now restored and I am showered and fit to mingle
  3. Still no water Been and queued and got my ration. Offered to take this old dear home who was struggling with her basket and couldn't get her in the car!! Too high for her with her arthritis. Got her a lift with the police and retired as I seemed to have made a bad situation worse! I may be knocking on LinMM's door soon - my hair is horrid! edited to correct typo
  4. Need to vent. No running water since yesterday morning - I want to have a shower please!!, Signal problems, (yet again) on line to Gatwick means other half has missed his flight and my internet connection iffy and other half still not fixed the keyboard (not even looked at it despite asking every weekend) I think I may go back to bed - well I was up at 4.40 to take other half to rail station. Not a good start to the week
  5. Well that was an extremely hard choice, all very worthy contenders! Went for the Hen Harrier as it seems it's endangered. Hard as I love all the choices
  6. I'm Laura on my Birth Certificate, but the Minister misheard and Christened me Laurie. Always been called Laura. She could have been called Jean as the 2nd May was my mom's birthday. My Grandma was a bit peeved because if my mom had been born on the same day as our Present Queen (born same year) they would apparently have been given a pram! If I was a betting woman I would have gone for Elizabeth or Victoria - shows why I don't bet! Anyway, all in all, lovely name and I'm looking forward to all the lovely dresses.
  7. Treating myself to the hairdressers today, although I actually don't enjoy the experience. I've lost 3 stone - well I had up until last July since then I've sot of plateaued.Lose a pound one week, put on half the next then stay the same for weeks. Getting a bit bored of it all now but need to loose the same again - if not more! But well done to you Lisa, I think you've got it cracked
  8. Sending best wishes to all your family and a lots of hugs x
  9. Pinterest has some wonderful decorated pointe shoes, mostly professionally made. I have got quite a few ideas from there. I have the shoes for my next project and the dye just psyching myself up
  10. Oh gosh Lisa, I've only managed to decorate one pair so far!
  11. So sorry to hear your youngest has had a setback. Love, virtual hugs end positive thoughts on their way x
  12. DD has taken a couple of the drop in classes that LinMM has been to when home for the holidays. She thoroughly enjoyed the lessons, wonderful teacher - did push her quite a lot. They do seem to be upgrading the building - lovely new staircase. Bit of an awkward place for us to get to but it has been worth the trip
  13. Not sure if it's still in warranty, DH bought it for me and I've forgotten how long I've had it, but it's not more than 9 months. He's back tomorrow so can try and get sorted. How funny - I live near Eastbourne! I've noticed on Rightmove that you can put in an area and you get property from a lot further away - same with the job seeking applications. If I'm willing to travel 20 miles for work then why send my jobs from 30 miles away!!
  14. Stupid new(ish) laptop is now giving me real problems - weil fou may be abie to see - I-m not mgltng the mistales - the lwybogd is. What I actually typed was "well you may be able to see - I'm not making the mistakes the keyboard is" Driving me .crazy - there's no logic to why it types a different character and it takes forever to type anything
  15. So sorry to hear the news do hope you find a way for her to continue in one form or another x
  16. Wonderful news and congratulations to your eldest DD and hoping your youngest dd is progressing well.
  17. Just seen this. Over the ether comes massive hugs, love and best wishes. Hope to hear good news for both your daughters very soon x
  18. Oops, shed a tear at this. Hope she does really well. Wish you could give her a hug from me too.
  19. Have you googled monologues for girls. We used to do this for dd and non dd's musical theatre school yearly adjudications. DD did the "After Juliet" monologue for her LMBDA the one written I think by Kyria Knightly's mom, she also did the renowned one from "Once a Catholic". Does she have a favourite film or TV show she could take something from - also tell her not to be afraid of looking at male monologues - a lot of the time you can adapt them and they tend to be a bit more meaty, most of the time there is nothing in there about being a boy and you can change them - tends how daring you want to be. Wishing her luck
  20. Gosh I am so overwhelmed by the kindness of everyone, but I should have expected it as I have seen before just how supportive everyone is on this forum. Thanks for the offer of a chat JulieW, I may take you up on that when we know something more definite. thequays, she will be 21 in June and thus the feeling is that even if an operation is an option and the podiatrist who saw her wasn't sure that it even is, she is really too old to have months off and then recuperation. We are presuming, as it seems logical, that the misaligned "healed" bone is causing all the problems. She did suffer with another condition which I can't for the life of me remember which if this is the problem is key hole surgery and not as drastic as rebreaking the foot. It's a waiting game at the moment. Hope Vbee and BillElliotts son are not in too much pain and discomfort and are coping with the crutches xx
  21. VBee I'm sorry for hijacking your thread, but I have felt I should highlight what happened to my dd. I don't want it happening to anyone else. Every time I started to think about what to say I just couldn't do it. I was just so angry at the time. When I saw your thread I knew it was time to say something. I hope others who read this will also take note and not be pushed around by the NHS.
  22. We are still coming to terms with it all. We've known since beginning of Feb - it was hard - I really wanted to come on here and have a good rant etc but was just too upset. She has an MRI scan scheduled for end of March - just in case there is another reason why her foot is giving her trouble. We're trying to be positive and look at other avenues for dance, she's fortunately quite good at jazz..
  23. I do urge you to get an x-ray when you go back after 6 weeks. My dd broke the 4th and 5th metatarsals and when they took the plaster cast off after the 6 weeks the hospital wouldn't x-ray - said it wasn't necessary. We argued with the "professionals" but they wouldn't budge. Tried to get an x-ray done at a private hospital - doctor has to refer!! 12 months later she still can't complete a full lesson en pointe and has finally got the doctor to send her for an x-ray. The break has not healed correctly and her career in ballet is over (she's at vocational school). I've not said anything up until now as we've been coming to terms with it all and she's not told anyone but her teachers what is going on. Apart from all the distress regarding her career, I am worried about what is going to happen later on in life, when she gets to my age etc. She walks around fine, but pointe work and some barefoot work is painful for her. So what I'm saying is please don't panic, just be aware and cite our problem if you can't get an x-ray.
  24. Okay, I may offend here but people who cannot pronounce th as in think, thing etc. Yesterday I listened to the radio to hear that a lady and her daughter out walking had seen a big cat which the mother said was a "panfer". I was just screaming as I drove when she described how she and her daughter had to run away from the "panfer". Funnily enough, when the daughter spoke it was a panther. It really is something which irritates me so much. Sorry
