  1. Mmm I'm probably over-reacting - I did think there would be more than 3 physio sessions and I had expected them to x-ray her foot when they took the boot off. I've had so many x-rays at the dentist that I hadn't considered that two x-rays on a foot would be a problem.
  2. Hi LinMM she's had one x-ray - when she broke the foot and not one since.
  3. Hmm, dd has had 3 sessions with physio after the boot was taken off and has been discharged. Told she can start doing plies etc. Somewhat concerned as no x-ray was taken when the boot was taken off - or am I over-reacting?
  4. I remember learning Maypole dancing at infant school. At junior school we learnt country dancing, and one of the teachers was Scottish so we learnt some Scottish dances, loved it. Err BankRuptMom - I did actually trip over the French Elastic thing - the elastic got dirty and kind of merged into the colour of the playground and were hard to see, I just ran straight through and then bang! Only time I ever heard Mr Kerr (Scottish gentleman) swear (well in fact any teacher swear) when he saw what I'd done to my knees - they went septic as well! I don't remember them banning the French skipping but they banned but those clacking things!
  5. Aah thank you everyone for your kind wishes and non-dd says thank you for all your kind wishes as well. thequays, Gallstone Pancreatitis is the condition we are hoping to avoid, and having read your description of what happened to you I really, really hope it doesn't get to that. My how you suffered. DD is lucky in that she does feel nauseous at times but has not actually been sick. She's had a good day today and feels better.
  6. We have a date for the MRI which is 10 February. She's gone an interesting shade of yellow and is getting fed up of people commenting on it. She has also lost an incredible amount of weight which again she is fed up of people commenting about. Another side effect is that she is very itchy and is constantly scratching. And she won't get sick pay. She is getting very negative and I'm trying to be positive. To be honest, she'd lie down on the operating table right his minute to get rid of the gallbladder so that she could feel well again. I just want her to feel better as she is so miserable. I'm hoping that in a few months we can sit and crack a few jokes about some of this, and I think a shopping trip is in order to make the most of the lovely figure she now has!
  7. Eek Janice and Ellen, my sympathies. Wishing her a speedy recovery.
  8. Builders! Why do they keep leaving my front door open? It's bloomin' freezing so I turned the heating on and he moaned he was too hot, well don't leave my door open then. Also the completely out of tune and off key singing ..... at the top of his voice! Only a few more days, I can make it.
  9. Congratulations to your DD. Hope the rest of her auditions go well.
  10. She'd broken the 4th and 5th metatarsals in her left foot. She had her second physio treatment yesterday, waiting to hear how that went. Their first show was last night so I expect she's feeling a bit miserable as everyone will be on a high.
  11. Alison that is awful having your car broken into. I sincerely hope it wasn't late at night because that is really nasty enough in daylight let alone in the dark.
  12. Well non dd got the promotion and the parcel has arrived. Nothing happened on the en suite today, which was a bit of a relief as the builder leaves the front door open and it's been getting a bit cold - he seems to suffer from the heat as he is constantly saying how hot he is! The cat's meow returned, but seems to have gone again! I'm off to weigh in shortly so will see what the damage is! Thanks for all the good wishes, virtual hugs and virtual flowers, I feel rather spoilt now. I know I moaned but I did find it quite amusing that so much happened in one day, it didn't seem possible that so much could happen in such a short time!
  13. Hi LinMM. She hasn't had the MRCP yet but she is convinced she will have the gall bladder out. She wants it out and she seemed to feel that the hospital were saying it would have to come out. They just need to know where the gallstone she has passed has gone. She's gone a bit yellow so it could be stuck somewhere. Results of blood test done yesterday back tomorrow. She is going to have time off work so it would be nice of she can get some sick pay. She's already had a week off without pay. Personally I would rather there was some other way, I don't want her to undergo a procedure, even if it is a laparoscopy and not too invasive. Unfortunately I think surgery and removal is the only option. I shall need to be on tranquilisers!
  14. A nice bit of news for non-dd as she applied for and has just heard she has the position of Team Leader where she works. Considering how unwell she is and the mishaps of getting her to the interview on Tuesday, very pleased. She will now get 37 hours of work/week instead of 16 hours and when she gets the date for her op she will now get sick pay. It's just nice that something has gone right for her. She now needs the date for her op and to pass her driving test. Hopefully I can hang up my Taxi hat - until dd comes home for the holidays
  15. Thanks to Fonty and Fiz for the links. Absolutely hysterical! I've book marked the Amazon.com review in case I have another day like yesterday.
  16. Days like today when the gods are just jesting with me. Non dd has interview for promotion (even though she's now gone yellow). Car won't start, flat battery. Can't jump start - even though we push car around so neighbour can try and jump start it. Call taxi to get non dd to interview. Call AA. AA pronounce no resurrecting battery. Dealership have battery. Drive 30 mins get new battery. Get told (again) by dealership I need a new car. I know this but can't afford one. Need new tyres on car. Get home, go out to Tescos as nothing in for non dd now she's on restricted diet. Come back. Cat has hole in her shoulder pouring muck. Take cat to vets - abscess from fighting with other cats, two lots of antibiotics and wound flushed out. Fortunately didn't have to pay for her expensive cat food as they had a nice scheme whereas after you've bought so many bags, you get one free. Come home. Non dd back from doctors appt. Not admitting her to hospital but still she's a worry as she is going yellow. She has blood test tomorrow. DD phones up to say parcel I sent and paid a lot of money to send not arrived. I normally don't get parcels signed for but guy at Post Office asked me what was in parcel and this had tickets for the show she should have been in had she not broken foot so he suggested we get it signed for (theatre just bunged tickets in post!!) Royal Mail tried to deliver on Saturday and say they've left card (yeah heard that one before). Cat is being a pain as I won't let her out. Oh and the builder ripping out en suite cut himself so I had to patch him up as well. I want a bath (not there it's been ripped out) and I don't find the family bathroom relaxing - I like my en suite! I bought a sandwich for my lunch as today had been a mess and it is 21 syns, Allowed between 5 and 15 syns a day on diet, wish I'd waited and spent syns on alcohol, could have had 2 glasses of wine and syns left over! Sorry for the rant, I feel a bit better now, although I'm over £200.00 out of pocket with everything. Oh and the cat has to go back for more antibiotics on Friday!
  17. Mmm I didn't enjoy Under Heaven as much as his others and no I haven't read the latest one yet. Debating whether to get it on Kindle if it is available. Have also started an on line course and there is lots of reading for that hence the Norman England!
  18. Quick update on DD. Boot came off on 8 January and had first physio today which seemed to go very well. Fingers crossed, touching wood.
  19. Now having two broken daughters. Non dd been in hospital overnight, had scan this morning and has gall stones - apparently passed one yesterday when she collapsed at work. Needs another scan and decisions will be made as to whether to remove the gall bladder. Eeek
  20. VBee I can confirm that we have been offered the option to make changes to Grishko shoes by our fitter in Brighton, who only supplies Grishko. She has told us that dd can make changes to her shoes (obviously at a charge) and that the shoes will then be made to dd's specifications. I don't know if this would include a different shank. Wondered if this might be an option for you. We haven't gone down this route as yet as dd finds the Nova suits her perfectly, but it is something we have always kept in mind. Have no experience of other shoe makers and whether they offer this option, I would have thought they would.
  21. Absolutely stunning, I've seen most of the others you've made as I follow you on Twitter but not been on there recently, they are all lovely - not sure which is my favourite - may be this one. I hadn't quite grasped that you were making these yourself i thought you were designing them and getting someone else to make them. Desperately trying to get non dd into making tutus, she likes sewing, understands corsets but I've not got her there yet
  22. Shmendrick, try The Lions of Al Rassan when you've finished Lord of Emperors, very similar feel as to setting. My favourite work by Guy is Tigana (non dd bought me a signed copy as my original book fell apart from so many readings) followed closely by a Song from Arbonne. Do admit he has a propensity to make me cry.
  23. Oh Spanner had forgotten that episode. Was only saying the other day that even though I had got fed up of the continual playing of Friends (wouldn't have been so bad if they'd played them in order) and was so glad when it disappeared from our screens; would be quite happy to see it all again, much better than what's on offer at the moment. Sorry I've lost the plot with my punctuation there, hope you can make sense of what I'm trying to say.
  24. Finished Sourcery, can't recommend this book. Read a handful of his books and love "Monstrous Regiment" but this was very disjointed.
