  1. Joined the 100 club. What am I going to do now?
  2. Well I got the taxi - a bit of snooping on twitter gave me the clue. Funnily enough I had typed the first word in and it was accepting that, but I didn't know that was a station - I've been using lists of the stations on wiki so maybe they're not up to date. I only have two left, that funny thing on the pub sill and the trees under the bridge. It's quite weird but I look at some of the ones I've answered and can't remember what the answer is! The snail is a groan worthy one too!
  3. Oh Alison the taxi one is one I haven't got. I think the cow skin was groan worthy for me.
  4. Ok not having a job at the moment I have spent a lot of time on this when it first opened and only have a few left - also been on twitter and gleaned a few answers from there. I only wish I could work out what is on the windowsill of the pub then I may have a chance of getting the clue - underneath the jacket not next to the beer glass. I think the clues are more tenuous than the last one
  5. Oh taxi yes that's my favourite series of Blackadder too. How could I forget the Vicar of Dibley and Red Dwarf. Swanprincess I have Chai Tea teabags. Not as nice as the latte but I prefer these to normal tea. I think you can steep the bags in hot milk but I've not tried it. I expect Whittards sell it in their tubs of powdered flavoured tea. Janet not seen The Escape Artist on your recommendaiton I'll catch it on iplayer Anjuli - I'm trying to loose weight but I know that trying to put it on is harder, good luck! It did make me happy to loose 3lbs this week as I have been stuck for 2 weeks not loosing anything
  6. HaHa Janet, we must meet because I think my friends would probably describe me the same way Anjuli_Bai I might just use that if I get asked, wouldn't have thought of that reply Thanks for the good wishes Taxi. I must admit I applied for this particular job on line and I can't find the advert so I'm not even sure what it entails - not a good start! Of course the other job with the horrendous application form is better paid and more interesting but I bet I don't get an interview for that one as I really want it. I have also realised why the Post Office don't publish last posting dates earlier - I took the card to the post office today and it was £1.28 Air Mail. Now I seem to remember I risked it last year and sent it Surface Mail and it cost in the region of £0.68. Never mind my cousin in Canada is worth the extra to make sure it's there in time. Unfortunately still haven't bought the presents for Australia so that is going to hurt the pocket
  7. The Post Office. Whereas retailers get into Christmas Mode around the end of August the Post Office can't give you a list of "last day for posting" well into October, by which time I have missed the last post for Canada. I know, I know I should remember end of September. but ... taxi, mmm now thinking about the answer to "how would your friends describe you" as I have an interview on Monday - thanks for the heads up because I think I would have done my goldfish impression if I had got asked that one without prior thought
  8. dramascientist, only just seen your posts. Live very close to Bedes School, if I can help in any way please feel free to ask.
  9. Oh Janet, The Searchers - unashamedly weep buckets every time we get to the bit where John Wayne picks up Natalie Wood and you think .... you know the bit - oh gosh I'm going just thinking about it. A wonderful film. Must admit to enjoying watching 'arry Potter - such lovely Christmassy bits. Of course, can't forget DD's favourite, Elf and really any Shrek movie normally makes me happy. Current TV - Ripper Street gives me immense pleasure in the vocabulary and the sentence construction. I did wonder around for a few days trying to insert "wherewithal" into my conversation as often as I could
  10. Companies who hire a temp and then the day before they start, cancel. Supposed to be working today but it was cancelled .... again!! Also application forms, some of the suppositions are amazing - yes some of us who took 'O' levels are still out there and we are still capable of working and no I can't give you the details of my Head Teacher as I doubt very much whether the old bat (she was a horror) is still with us and if she is I expect she wouldn't remember me as she never really did when I was a pupil at her school.
  11. I had noticed that once or twice the ribbon was getting a bit short. Do you measure against your old ribbons or just cut in half? As one ribbon (can't remember but think it is the inside one) is always shorter we started measuring and cutting the ribbons to match. Have also bought a reel of ribbon now. It was quite an expense at the time but as I ordered 4 pairs for the start of term thought it would be easier for dd as she's got the task now
  12. And I thought our council was pushing it asking £50.00 for three items. In the end we managed to get the bed base into the back of the LandRover (it had been cut in half). Drove to the waste site keeping fingers crossed we could get in as we have roof rack. All I can say is the staff at the waste site near Maresfield, were fantastic. We were gong the wrong way, they directed us, lifted the height barrier etc. We took the second part of the bed up that day and having enquired took a fridge freezer up the next day. They were constantly sweeping the site and all the staff were extremely helpful. There is no way that it cost is £50.00 in fuel and although this site is further away than our local site, we will continue to go there. Of course it is all helped by the fact that we have a very old Defender - can't persuade other half to get rid of it but it does have it's uses!!
  13. So pleased you have had some positive news x
  14. Fonteyn, we had a similar set up where I used to live with regards to violins. I can't quite remember how it worked, but as long as you kept going back and upgrading to the next size it was ok. Worked out a bit cheaper and no violins in the loft. Was very glad of the system when dd first took lessons as the desire to play came out of the blue, well they had a session at school where they all tried out different instruments and she came home and said I want to play the violin. She did quite well in the end. I was terrified of the sounds that we were going to endure but honestly, probably because she started on the smallest size violin, it was ok. Of course dd's violin teacher did find her just the perfect full size violin which was not from the shop so we did have a violin kicking around for a while, but then the violin teacher managed to sell it to a pupil at the school she taught at as dd had taken good care of it. Apparently the boys where she taught were a bit hard on their instruments. Was just glad to get shot of it. Taxi, totally agree I have loads of pictures from my mom and not a clue who they are. She did tell me some of them, but afraid whenever I try and remember I just can't. I think it's part of the grieving process because I just seem unable to remember anything, makes me sad. I did ask her to write down things for me but sadly she didn't. Wish I'd written them down.
  15. Hi Fonteyn 22, I used to know someone who collected rare vinyl records and some of them are worth quite a bit. I have an old Donovan LP which if in perfect condition (it's not) could be worth about £20.00 it but then I probably only paid £2.00 for it, yes it's that old. There is a book or magazine which gives the updated value but I have no idea what it is called - sorry - I'm sure W H Smith's would know. I too am an addict for Home magazines - especially around Christmas. I am getting better and I do cut out the recipes and articles I want and file them in poly pockets until I can find the right kind of scrapbook to put them in. I really want to find the clipping about melting a Foxe's glacier mint to make a pond for the Christmas cake - can't quite remember where it is but I've got it! I have Country Living going back until it first started, but I try and go through a magazine a week, take out what I want (if anything) and then re-cycle. I have pondered about selling them at a car boot but wonder if anyone would pay say a £0.50 and issue or is that asking too much? When we moved I took a lot of knick knacks to a local charity shop, things the girls had been given from peoples holidays - some of them were a bit naff. I was horrified at the price the charity shop was asking for them when I next went in, they were asking way too much for them. Hope they managed to sell them. The village library was ecstatic at the books and video tapes, DVD/s I took in for them. They were particularly happy as the local authority had taken away all funding so they now run themselves with an annual fee. Some of the unwanted clothes, sheets even if not in a good condition get sent off to make carpet tiles. I always sort those items into a different bag and let the charity shop know so they don't waste their time sorting through. Non-dd did some voluntary work at the local Sense so I know they do welcome stuff. Still have got the piano though, couldn't give it away and believe me I tried - but no one wanted it It was left to me in a Will and now unless I can find a home for it now where it will be loved then it's staying - much to other half's dismay!
  16. I was lucky enough to see this a few years back. Unfortunately, they are not coming anywhere near me, but I would go again like a shot. A wonderful experience.
  17. Moved a couple of years ago and got rid of quite a lot but still have way too much. I am sure that I'm going to need to use the item, magazine at some point and yes I have thrown out some things by mistake - not needed them, but feel a loss. I'm a lost cause! edited for typo
  18. I'm a terrible hoarder of magazines - I never seem to read them when I first get them and there's always an article I want to keep. I'm also a cross stitcher (a very frustrated one at times!) and I have kits and magazines stored everywhere. I have at least cancelled my subscription to Country Living. I also had to clear my mother's house a couple of years ago and acquired quite a bit - most of it with emotional attachments so that's all here for good! I am going through a lot of the magazines and cutting out what I want to keep but as for the cross stitch, well three lifetimes and I might get it all done!!
  19. Taxi, yet another useful tip regarding unwanted callers - going to use that one as well. Before we bought this house I used the perfectly legitimate excuse that we were tenants and not the owners. That gets rid of a lot of people from the door step.
  20. Oh Taxi I hadn't thought of that. I'm going to use that next time.
  21. I've kept the tins from previous years and am still trying to work out if it is cheaper to buy the boxes and then refill the tin. Anyway I'm on a diet this year so however I buy either Quality Street or Roses there's going to be a lot more for everyone else!
  22. Totally illegal Taxi, but if someone does this to me I put my rear fog lights on, makes them back off a bit sometimes if you're lucky!
  23. Thinking of you and sending best wishes to your son.
  24. I am so looking forward to this again, I loved every minute of trying to guess all the answers. I did try and send them a cryptic clue but as I wasn't uploading a picture only text it didn't seem to work. Anyway it was a bit of a silly clue so I've probably saved myself some embarrassment.
