  1. If you are really concerned about scissors you can buy a thread cutter - manufacturer is Clover, any cross stitch web site will have them. I have one which I bought as embroidery scissors are incredibly sharp. (I'm a cross stitcher). Do you use the dental floss that comes in a box with a cutter - that should work on normal thread as well i would have thought.
  2. Le Roi est Mort, Vive Le Roi by Enigma Got a very in spacey feeling to some of these tracks.
  3. They were very keen on aromatherapy at John Radcliffe and during my labour with non-dd they put drops of Frankincense on a flannel for me - I'm not sure what affect the Frankincense was supposed to have. I quite like the smell
  4. Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Melody i dare not show DD your video, she would want to come and live with you.
  5. Whenever I was on a shopping trip as a teenager I would always eat at the café in the Birmingham Art Museum - decades since I've been, hope the museum and café are as good as I remember. On the subject of Art Gallery's/Museums can recommend the Kelvingrove Art Museum and Gallery in Glasgow. The Dali Christ of St John of the Cross is worth the visit alone, but there is some wonderful Macintosh and then there's the Glasgow Boys collection.
  6. They are performing Alice in Wonderland in Brighton 1st and 2nd January. I've seen their production of Alice before and am looking forward to it again. Not seen Romeo and Juliet by them yet.
  7. I totally agree taxi. I have used cotton wool buds and cocktail sticks to clean the dispenser on my machine - still can't get all the gunk out. Have soaked in vinegar and lemon juice.
  8. The pill is linked to other things as well. Non-dd has had to have her gallbladder removed and there seems to be a link between a certain brand of pill and an increase in gallbladder problems. She is now being investigated for excessive levels of cortisol - don't think there's a link there but I will be asking the question when we visit the consultant.
  9. And another vote for Southern Rail, train 40 minutes late today so DD had to cancel her physio in London. Only date they can give her is very late on 28th December which they are not on strike for at the moment which is a shame as they actually run better when the conductors are on strike.
  10. I had high expectations of La Ballerina, which I think were too high. I had expected far more interesting décor and the food really wasn't anything special - this was some time ago so maybe it's improved.
  11. 8/15 and I have to report that I bought a Twirl last night. It was somewhat shrunk in size which is good as it actually wasn't very nice and if it wasn't for the fact that I haven't had chocolate in a while it would have been chucked out the car window!! Actually I only ever chuck apple cores out the car window and that's only down country lanes where I have this misguided belief that some lovely little dormouse is going to come along and be very grateful because I've save him from starvation .....
  12. Our semi-feral cat Thomas would have stuff coming from every orifice when he went anywhere - usually managed to get it over Poppy as well - I thought we were the only sufferers as he is the only cat I've had this problem with! In the end I had to stop taking them to the luxurious cattery (well I thought it was as they had nice chalets with a good distance between them and the next resident) to the cattery which was closest - 1 mile away - sometimes he'd make it ..... sometimes not!! I used to take a roll of kitchen paper and antiseptic spray and the ubiquitous Tesco's carrier in the boot of my car on every trip. Still keep kitchen roll in the car to this day and he's been gone 12 years! I also keep in the boot of my car the plastic liners I got from Notcutts Garden centre for when I got to other less discriminating garden centres - they've been very useful - they're square and double the thickness of a carrier bag. Also in the boot of my car .......!!
  13. Can't add to the excellent advice given here just wanted to send you a hug
  14. Wish I could have been the planning officer and stopped Clarkson. I thought his old house looked lovely, but no he had to blow it up. Sorry off topic
  15. DD didn't have the problems you have but we used to spray hair spray on either the comb or my hand to try and slick her hair back. We found Elnet the best but it is very expensive.
  16. Adorable video clip Ellie. Wonderful to hear Pandas are no longer on the endangered list I'm not very good with links but here goes www.bbc.co.uk/earth/story/20150819-caring-for-sea-otters
  17. Otter fluffer - can't remember where I saw this but people are PAID to fluff orphan otters coats - or the people who spend their time with Panda's. Couldn't be happier looking after baby animals.
  18. Visit to the vets last night £70.00!!! This included antibiotic injection because we can't get cat to take tablets; a worming tablet .... because we can't get cat to take tablets, 10ml of some pink liquid (HIb something or other) to bathe all the various bites and scabs and THE CONE OF SHAME!! Afraid the Cone of Shame didn't last long. She kept walking backwards not forwards and she came and SAT ON MY LAP which she never does and after half an hour I gave in and took it off. Thank goodness I'm at work and don't have to put up with her as she will be so grumpy as she's not allowed out. DD at home with her - she has my sympathies. You would think at age 12/13 she would stop scrapping with obviously more adept-at-fighting cats.
  19. And it's the glare from the cyclists as they approach four abreast round a bend with hedges either side. Obviously I just do not have the right to use the road because they have exclusivity! And I must live near you all as the hazards you've detailed all apply to where I live.
  20. Aw Lisa what an absolutely adorable name!
  21. I spent today at the Greenwich Observatory, the National Maritime Museum and the Cutty Sark. Tomorrow we have guests and Monday supposed to be grouting dds shower then back to work for a rest!
  22. My appointment was made by phone call from the hospital to me. They said they would confirm by letter, they didn't but they texted me the next day instead which was fine by me and then they texted me again the day before my appointment. It was a very hot day, we live close to the sea and i presumed they'd all gone down the beach but I suppose I should have remembered that there is a problem with our ambulance service so maybe some absences were justified -
  23. People who don't turn up to their hospital appointments. Disgusted whilst i waited for my appointment to hear the nurses calling name after name until finally someone was actually there. There were at least 10 no shows.
  24. I think room 101 is too good for Donald and Katie - the furthest end of the Universe please - with no return ticket.
