The Royal Ballet, Manon, Autumn 2014
bangorballetboy replied to annamk's topic in Performances seen & general discussions
Aren't they the footmen from her coach? I assume the kissing is just naïve politeness (it is France, after all).- 311 replies

ROH 2014/15 Period 1 casting
bangorballetboy replied to aileen's topic in Ballet / Dance news & information
Graham Spicer (@gramilano on twitter) has an article on the Ashton bill http://www.gramilano.com/2014/10/royal-ballet-celebrate-founding-choreographer-frederick-ashton/ that mentions some casting. Includes Crawford & Pajdak dancing the Brahms waltzes and Hayward debuting as Vera in MitC.- 223 replies

The Royal Ballet, Manon, Autumn 2014
bangorballetboy replied to annamk's topic in Performances seen & general discussions
Yes, he now has trousers and I thoroughly dislike them. They bunch around the knee and look out of place, particularly as the soldiers and other male "dancer" roles are in tights.- 311 replies

Why do we make it so hard for boys to begin taking ballet?
bangorballetboy replied to Stitch's topic in Doing Dance
When I started ballet (in a class full of girls much younger than I was) I wore track suit bottoms and a t-shirt. -

Lamb's Manon (with Pennefather) is one of the finest, most emotional and moving things I've seen on the ROH stage.- 223 replies

Afternoon tea at the ROH
bangorballetboy replied to toursenlair's topic in Ballet / Dance news & information
Exclusive? Well, if you mean open to ROH ticket-holders only, then yes. Very expensive? Not really, there's certainly more expensive places about. Out-of-bounds? That's balderdash, except when there's a special event (e.g. a first night reception). Anyone can go in and you'll often see a table-full of ballet regulars in there.- 51 replies

Length of time in the corps

How many companies put on a performance every night (except when on tour)? (In RB) if there is a performance, there is also a 60/90 minute break at dinner time. -

ROH 2014/15 Period 1 casting
bangorballetboy replied to aileen's topic in Ballet / Dance news & information
Just had an email from ROH advising that the casts for two performances of Month in the Country are switched, so it's now: 5 November: Bonelli/Osipova 12 November: Pennefather/Yanowsky- 223 replies

Afternoon tea at the ROH
bangorballetboy replied to toursenlair's topic in Ballet / Dance news & information
We've had afternoon tea in the Fortnums' tea salon twice and it's lovely. Sandwiches, cakes and scones replenished on request, which I doubt will be the case at ROH. And a stunning tea list.- 51 replies

ENB seeks new home
bangorballetboy replied to Jan McNulty's topic in Ballet / Dance news & information
That's interesting. However, the official line is that the name was changed to reflect that the company had become a significant touring company. -

That's because they are in the process of updating the systems on which the database is founded so some of the more recent works are not yet on there.- 173 replies
