  1. Men have to wear ties at The Ritz. The story about The Queen's Table is balderdash.
  2. Let's not make suppositions or judgements. We don't know what has happened.
  3. Just had an email from ROH advising that the casts for two performances of Month in the Country are switched, so it's now: 5 November: Bonelli/Osipova 12 November: Pennefather/Yanowsky
  4. We've had afternoon tea in the Fortnums' tea salon twice and it's lovely. Sandwiches, cakes and scones replenished on request, which I doubt will be the case at ROH. And a stunning tea list.
  5. I once competed in a ballroom dancing competition that was held in a shopping centre (in Hatfield).
  6. Scottish Ballet took that name in 1974. ENB name change was, as Janet said, in 1989.
  7. That's interesting. However, the official line is that the name was changed to reflect that the company had become a significant touring company.
  8. https://uk-offers.timeout.com/deals/entertainment-push?cid=TOL%7CDD%7CEM%7C_CTA%7Centertainment-push%7C2014-07-18T17:37:34
  9. Well, there is a significant number of standing tickets held back for students, so it's not just Friends booking them all.
  10. That's because they are in the process of updating the systems on which the database is founded so some of the more recent works are not yet on there.
  11. Olga is a pretty important role for a (newly promoted) soloist. Interesting to note the RB Olgas: [first run] Cojocaru, Bond, Nuñez, [second run] Burn, Hatley, [third run] Duprot, [fourth run] Lamb, [fifth run] Takada, Choe, Hamilton, Crawford.
  12. Wouldn't be the first time the ROH webteam have linked to Solomon when then meant to link to Matthew. Those of us who were quick on to check the cast will also have seen the (now corrected) mistake that suggested we'd be seeing Osipova and McRae together in Swan Lake!
  13. Muntagirov is not in the Cuthbertson cast and he's dancing Lensky not Onegin. Sorry to be a pedant...
  14. Cast changes are noted in the show report and the database in most cases shows the actual cast, not the advertised cast.
  15. Those who have seen the RB promotions press release will have seen that Kenta Kura will be teaching at White Lodge. The RBS have also announced that Carol-Anne Millar will also be teaching at White Lodge and Daria Klimentova will be teaching in the Upper School. Link to the news here.
  16. There were problems, indeed (as I couldn't get to this page on broadband), but seems OK now.
  17. On Twitter, McRae says he is flying back to Q'land on Monday.
  18. Very much yes to end of act applause. That is when it's most appropriate. It's a shame the corps and harlots don't get a curtain call, but that's the same in most "traditional" R&Js. In the other hand, I'd probably have no money left having spent it on bouquets for harlots if it were otherwise!
  19. That's where (with my personal hat on) I've added my response. With my mod's hat on, I will remind posters that spamming the board (i.e. multiple postings with the intention of reaching more people) is not permitted.
  20. And long may it continue to be so. Applauding principals when they first arrive on stage is a dreadful habit, imported from the Russians who will applaud and whoop and holler anything and everything, which breaks atmosphere and is almost always inappropriate. As you say, raise the rafters at the end, though!
  21. Steven McRae has confirmed that his Kitri will again be Iana Salenko.
  22. Not that I'm ever one for pedantry, but those are bearskins not busbies.
