  1. It was a no for my dd too. I think she'll be absolutely fine. She tried last year and was quite nervous so felt she had to go this time and show how much better she is. She felt she gave her all this time round so had said she was pleased even if it was a no. We've still got hammond first round to do and she loved that school last year. She's currently part of the CAT scheme and she is thriving there. If it doesnt happen this year she is receiving some brilliant training in the mean time.
  2. I've two dd. The eldest asked to start dancing the day after her baby sister came home from hospital. She is a very good dancer but very self critical and always said it is just a hobby. My youngest tagged along to bug sisters lessons from being a week old and it is all she knows. She has watched and copies from being able to walk and has always been adamant she will make it as a performer. The youngest dd is much more confident and outgoing but they are both extremely stubborn. When we do shows/comps they both are just able to turn on a little sparkle and have a very good stage presence. Was very tricky at the end of last year as both made the final of a big local talent competition. Thankfully both wished the other well and big sis was overjoyed when little sis was runner up.
  3. No post for us either, we were in last Tuesdayat 11am. Maybe they'e reviewing all of last weeks scores together? I think there was auditions on the Thursday too?
  4. @Dancer123 I thought it would be today too. Hopefully tomorrow
  5. I'm so incredibly pleased my dd dance school change to fit with associates and CAT scheme. The timetable has been adjusted quite a few times to fit in with my dd training (lots of vocal/social media complaints from other parents though!). Thankfully the teacher will not be swayed by childish parents and my dd has just been given a main role in a new group dance.......the teacher put a post out on our group page aswell to highlight the fact that the place was fully deserved as my dd works much harder to keep up with everything. It means a great deal to my dd as she had felt a little excluded recently. I had noticed some teachers had issues with CAT for some reason. My dd teacher is a massive supporter of them but local schools say how awful the teachers are. I've found the CAT staff to be so amazing in all areas. The teachers have been in contact frequently the last week awaiting the results of last weeks Elmhurst audition.
  6. @Confuddled my dd is 11 but currently wears age 8-9yrs and a leotard size 2. She's got a few ivy park pieces in a xxs they do some Capri leggings which are more like full length on her and they were reduced in the sale. Leotard wise some of the xs ladies or petite are worth trying as some are tiny. I'd never thought my dd would fit in them until my local dance shop said to as the fittings vary for each style.
  7. My dd is tiny and was desperate for a pair of wool warm up trousers. She finally found a pair on move dancewear a few months back and wears them all the time now. She alternates between these and a pair of yoga pant/leggings we found for a bargain price in tk max. She's got a wardrobe full of vest tops and hoodies to wear on top of her leotards. Managed to find few pieces of ivy park stuff in her size but she's patiently waiting until she fits into the pink range from Victoria secret (we did try some last week after Elmhurst audition but still far too big for now). The warm up booties have to have been our best ever buy, they are worn to death now (She does wear from the car to studio but I can drop her right at the door).
  8. I like that we get to see some of the audition. My dd is after a yr 8 place so we'd did this did last year. Last year she looked petrified and never looked up. This time round she looked so much more relaxed. She came out and said she'd had a brilliant time and is happy they got see her best; even if it's a no she's content now.
  9. The kids that spoke at the parents meeting were so enthusiastic. Was so clear to see how much they loved the school. What time did your dd audition? We were the 11am group.
  10. So the waiting game starts again........ My dd auditioned for Elmhurst on Tuesday and has hammond left to do in a few weeks. Doesn't seem like two minutes since we did this all last year.
  11. When do they decide on groups? My dd has at place at Newcastle but we've very little info as yet.
  12. It was more desperation I think. They had very few kids that agreed to participate so thought because my dd dances she'd have great stamina (which she does). She finds any distance running extremely boring though, she came back in a great mood.........school came second overall for all events.
  13. I hate sports day, my youngest dd just about to leave junior school and hers was cancelled due to rain.....such a shame. She is a fantastic sprinter and easily out runs the boys in the 100m. School enrolled her on the athletics team last year and she was listed for 1500m race........distance runner she is not, she found it to be torture. Shes also fantastic at jumps and often underestimated as she's the size of an 8 year old. My eldest dd is an extremely classical, graceful dancer: loses all her co-ordination when it comes to sports though. Shes 14 and given up on ever been able to run. Shes exactly like Pheobe from friends when it comes to running ?
  14. Has your dc had final audition yet Point-less? My dd had just been offered a place at Newcastle CAT scheme, she's absolutely delighted. The interview was very relaxed and my dd answered everything herself. We were told she'd have to cut back on dance classes at her current school as she does a lot of hours already. She can't wait to start though and has full support of her dance school.
  15. Well after an extremely tiring weekend my dd has finished her run in EYB. Been awful being backstage in this heat so no idea how they manage to dance! Super proud of my dd as she received the junior award from Miss Lewis at presentation. She's delighted at being chosen from so many talented children.
  16. Aw how brilliant dancingshoes. Congratulations.
  17. My dd is at Newcastle recall this weekend. Is the dance class similar to first audition?
  18. The team at EYB are brilliant. My dd wasn't disappointed at casting day just very self conscious about her height. My dd was given a little solo section during rehearsals though so shes very happy, the made it harder to go with her capability (I'm yet to see it so probably only seconds long ?).
  19. My dd is doing EYB for the second time. She's absolutely loves it. She's made lots of friends and learning so much. She finds the casting days quite difficult though. She's very tiny for her age so felt she was never given the same opportunity for some if the roles as the girls the same age/ability who are taller. I know they have to consider costumes etc but definitely makes my dd more self conscious about her height. Some of the best photos I have from EYB are what the kids have taken themselves during rehearsals. Kids look so happy (though sometimes sweaty/red faced from working so hard ?).
  20. That's brilliant. Good luck! My dd will be fine she's got recall next week for CAT scheme so shes got lots to keep her busy. Plus I get to keep her at home another year. Hopefully you won't wait too long for results
  21. No audition for my dd. Oh well we best get planning/saving to start the journey again next school year. Hope some of the other forum dc get another chance to try.
  22. Emails will be sent this afternoon. I've just checked as my dd needs to let her school know asap, shes meant to be taking part in a dance festival with them.
  23. I do agree that the schools don't feel able to make decisions themselves. Originally my dd school said they weren't allowed to do a letter as local council wouldn't allow them. After speaking to EYB they did do it happily. My friends dd is still battling with her school. Don't think it's an issue now of school refusing point blank as another girl at the same school had hers done straight away. I think it's likely to be an issue with attendance/behaviour/school work. I'm very lucky my dd school have given us all the days we've needed this year for auditions etc. A few teachers have really supported her and are watching the show next week as they've never seen her perform properly.
  24. Brilliant Thank you for the information. It's not for my dd her paperwork all in order. It's my friends dd. She's trying to sort it today so I'll share this information with her. I did advise her to sort this before she handed over the payments as her dd doesn't have the greatest attendance and she's had a fair few detentions this year (She's in secondary school). I've tactfully tried to say she can quote all the legislation but if her dd doesn't reign in her cheeky attitude then the school have good grounds to decline permission.
