  1. Thankyou for sharing. Got some great bargains
  2. The dates aren't the best either, the venue closest to us is scheduled in the middle of exam season.
  3. Such an amazing opportunity. My eldest dc misses out by just two weeks, 16th birthday is just outside the requirements
  4. @TEE my dd will hopefully be starting September. We're waiting for the written confirmation of bursary offer so we can start looking for sponsers/grants. She would be starting yr 8.
  5. My dd attends the CAT scheme at Newcastle, it's a mix of ballet and contemporary with weekend classes focussing on group work, fitness, yoga/Pilates and choreography. It's a brilliant scheme if there's one you can get to. My dd has been working with the scheme physio since she started CAT to help with her hypermobility. I'd highly recommend.
  6. @Flash1410 it's an awful feeling being so unsure of what a happening. I've no idea if my dd is near the upper end of reserve list as it's not very clear on how many were actually on reserve. What I do know from last year though is that a few kids were very lucky and ended up with MDS in July! @Seaside H I hope your dd tries again next year, she did so well to make it this far. My dd was lucky enough to get a place on our local CAT scheme last summer and really enjoys her lessons there.
  7. Congratulations @Anxiousdancemum85 amazing news
  8. My dd is just a few places higher than your dd. I'm certain though that there was only 62 kids auditioning (my dd said 40 yr 7&8 were there last week and the remaining 22 were yrs 9&10). Her and her friend both came out and said that there was 62 kids after funding which tallies with the figure given today by Janet.
  9. @Seaside H they volunteered the information to me too. There was definiely 62 being considered for funding as my dd and her friend both came out after recall and said that' how many were on the list; it had been said during the audition. It is all so confusing. They told me willingly where my dd was on the list today but then told my friend they won't tell you? She has no idea where her dc is on the list or even if school are offering any bursary. @margarite if it's the same child I think it is she was also offered MDS for Hammond. She's taking the MDS for Elmhurst so somene is in for good news from hammond.
  10. I believe there was only 62 on the list in total for funding from last weeks audition? She's quite near the top really x
  11. Hammond have also offered my dd 50% bursary and said shes not high enough for any movement to affect her. I know it's a lot of money still but I'm going to try and see if I can raise the remaining funds. My dd has worked with a professional dance company recently and they said they'd help too. So for us still a little bit in limbo. My dd knows it's not guaranteed just yet but We'll give it our best shot.
  12. @Picturesinthefirelight last year my dd did one at the audition then the maths and English papers were sent to school. It was on the timetable we were sent but they had so many kids at the last audition they ran over
  13. @Seaside H the last group that auditioned for Hammond haven't even did the nvr test, they ran out of time due to the amount they allowed to attend. I though they would maybe catch them Wednesday at finals but they never did .
  14. The letter I had was pretty much the same as last years. I read it as meaning don't contact with regards to MDS. I've emailed to express an interest in bursary information.
  15. @Wend I hope she wakes up feeling more positive tomorrow. Such an achievement to be offered a place even without the MDS. It's still early days so could be movement on the list.
  16. I don't think anyone is in school now until after the holidays. I think they've did everything a little rushed this year having the auditions so close together. Last year all the forms had to be back before funding audition so they had all the information to hand to make the offers regarding bursary a few days after MDS letters were sent.
  17. The financial form and documents didn't need to be in this week as far as I am aware. Just the registration form handed out at first audition as well as the fee of £155. I'm assuming if those don't get paid and handed in no place will be kept if you are on reserve list ?
  18. I was told over the phone the registration form with fee had to be in Wednsday and the medical and financial form to be handed in ideally before the end of Easter holidays. One of the other parents was told the same aswell?
  19. I was under the impression the registration form and fee had to be handed in by Wednesday before the kids went into audition? I was told over the phone to hand both in on the day? Everyone who attended Wednesday audition at Hammond goes into reserve list and are ranked in order of score. Though honestly this doesn't always work as a boy lower down the list can still end up with an MDS over a girl who's higher up the list due to boarding situation. Plus I'd imagine year group has an impact too? My dd was quite high up reserve list last year and we know of people lower down the list who ended up with awards when she never did.
  20. My dd is reserve list aswell 😟
  21. They send letters with results. Apparently being posted first class today. I think they can never say really say how many are available either. Good luck everyone waiting
  22. Hammond have said the same as Elmhurst.
  23. Anyone had letters from hammond lower school yet? They'd told the kids results by Friday but my postman has been and we have nothing?
  24. I'm unsure how many have been recalled this year. Last year there was around 50.
  25. My dd had a one to one about eighteen months ago with Miss Lewis from EYB. She made a point of saying that ideally kids who wish to persue ballet seriously should not do gymnastics. She believes that kids are taught lots of conflicting things when they try to do both. She actually told by dd she must choose as she's hypermobile and so she definitely should not do both. As for 'tricks' my dd can barely do any however she is a beautiful dancer with lots of personality so it has never affected her winning at comps.
