  1. Oh the hypermobility is most definitely not an advantage as some may think. My DD has always been able to split, overspent etc but it's been a difficult process trying to teach her to control her movements.
  2. Loobylou. My DD hypermobility has really affected her core strength and her feet. She's had to be taught how to be very aware of her feet as they naturally roll in. She was shown exercises to do at home by the JA teacher and they've really helped. Her core has been a much more difficult task, she's had some one to one lessons with a retired ballet teacher who has managed to explain how to get her core muscles working together, it took a very long time for my DD to manage even a sit up. She's definitely improved over last year just unfortunately a little late for the vocational auditions.
  3. I'm pleased in a way that they did say the same as the JA teacher has been telling us. We only started this journey because she thought my DD should at least try. Our JA teacher is lovely, she has such a mixed capability in her class yet she still makes sure she advised parents as much as she can. She has given us lots of advice regarding hypermobility but did say that it may be an issue at auditions.
  4. Just my luck today that finally got feedback from Elmhurst Jan audition. Wouldn't have really helped today they said my DD still has quite immature muscle tone (she is hypermobile) so didn't score highly enough to get a recall with them. They thought she had lot of potential, I did let them know she had just attended tring and has hammond call back too. They're going to speak to us at the easter intensive but said definitely apply next year, timing was just wrong on this occasion.
  5. We thoroughly enjoyed today, such a lovely atmosphere in the school. My DD gave her all today buy thought there was girls with better technique than her so we're not holding out much hope. She's got Hammond next month so she's determined to practice as much as she can before the.
  6. The boys looked like a big group, I saw them going in. My DD wasn't sure how physio recalls were picked. She said there was a girl that was absolutely outstanding who she was sure would get funding but she didn't get kept for physio.
  7. Well my DD loved today. She wasn't kept behind so I'm assuming that she's not in running now. Fantastic experience though. There's 45 kids recalled this year and 10 MDS awards to award.
  8. This is sooooo nerve wracking. Waiting for my DD to come out now. Good luck to everyone else there today
  9. Thank you happymum, I thought it was but can't find it on the info.
  10. I've just finished packing ready to set off tomorrow with my DD. Typically she's been poorly all week and has an absolutely hacking dry cough. Always bad timing. Can anyone confirm it's leotard and convertible ballet tights? Safe journey to everyone else travelling tomorrow
  11. How often do they come home from vocational schools? I know at all the tours of the schools they didn't recommend them coming home every weekend.
  12. Wow it's beautiful. That's exactly what she'd love to do. She currently only does dance/singing outside of school. She doesn't participate in any school groups as some kids in her year group gave her a hard time In fact her current class teacher wasn't even aware she danced until they completed the hammond forms in school
  13. It's funny you say about the feel for the school tutugirl. We attended Elmhurst as well as tring and Hammond only because her Associate teacher pushed her too. All the way there she said I'm going just for the experience however when she got there she totally felt at home. Hammond she said didn't have that same initial feeling.
  14. Thank you for all the replies. I've got to say Tring impressed me the most. For the dance course at Tring do they still do singing? My daughter absolutely loves it which is probably why she initially thought hammond would be her favourite. She's absolutely working her socks off now trying to get in as much ballet practice as she can in preparation for the funding auditions. Even if she's not successful this year it's definitely made her want to work and improve so she can audition next year.
  15. From outset it has always been Hammond. However when we went to Tring she absolutely loved the school so she's unable to decide at the moment. I also prefer Tring however I think distance for us Hammond would be easier ( hammond is a 3hr drive away where as tring closer to 5hrs).
  16. Can anyone advise please. My daughter has funding audition March for Tring and April for Hammond. If by some miracle she was offered an MDS for Tring how long would we have to accept? I'm assuming it would be before we even get to Hammond. I know the chances are very slim as they're like gold dust but my daughter is worrying about it a little.
  17. Does anyone know how many are usually recalled for funding auditions for lower school?
  18. Sunderland classes are on a Saturday morning yrs 6s (and currently yrs7&8) are 9.15am. Classes are 90minutes.
  19. My daughter can only wear the jacket the trousers just look awful on her, they're still too long and she got them when she started associates in yr4.
  20. Is it an Elmhurst associates leotard? My daughters 10 and tiny (4"3) she's been in the 8-10 for almost two years now so I'd say they're small fitting. However there seems to be a big jump between sizes, she's in need of a new one and next size up is far too big.
  21. Well I'm in total shock today. My dd auditioned just under two weeks ago for the 1st form dance course (plus theatre arts course). She loved the audition but listened to speech at the start about looking for long and lean (she's tiny) and said well not me they're looking for. Postman been today and she's been invited to funding audition.
  22. Allnewtome the kids find it easier than we do. My daughter also got a no for Elmhurst last week (though her associate teacher did say today it's 'not yet') and was absolutely fine. We're waiting for tring results but she did get a yes from Hammond. Out of all she felt Elmhurst one had gone best but she had a feeling it would be a no. Her associate teacher has told her to work hard as she believes she has the potential to do extremely well, she's just unlucky in that her muscles/posture are quite immature (teachers description) and that in a year she'll be in a better position if she wants to try again. I thought the knock back would have made her a little sad but it's just made her more determined now. Me however, I'm worn out from the 800+ miles I've driven in the past two weeks.
  23. Thank you. Am I right in thinking I return forms with the registration fee? Is that all that's required for now?
  24. My daughter also received an offer of a place following Mondays audition. What happens now with regards to funding? Do I just return all the forms and they let us know what they can offer? Or will she need to seen again like the other schools for final auditions? Been such a hectic day as we've travelled five hours straight after school for her tring audition.
