  1. They said they would aim to have the MDS results out by close of term but bursary offers to made after the holidays.
  2. @Danceintherain I'm not sure if you were there for last weeks audition but Hammond did say any bursary offers wouldn't be made until after Easter as the school breaks up this week.
  3. @Anna C the CAT staff have been so good to my dd. It's not just dance training but the general advice and conidence boost that they also provide.
  4. Honestly looking back at the standard my daughter was at last year, she just wasn't ready. She wanted it but she wasn't too upset when it didn't happen. This year however she has got a real fire in her belly and she's determined to succeed. She has spent so much time practising and taking every class she can. I'm so very grateful we have very little snow otherwise I know she would be out sledging x
  5. Sorry to hear that @MrsMoo2. My dd had similar feedback last year. She has spent the last year working hard to improve her muscle tone and strength. I can really see a difference in her now. I hope he keeps perusing his dream. Is there a CAT scheme local to you? They've been such a brilliant help to my dd since she started and booked her in with physio as soon as she started with them.
  6. I would get her checked over if she is serious about her dance. I'd had my dd to GP many times over the years who were useless. As soon as she started CAT they had physio assess her and she's had regular sessions since then. Physio even demanded a MRI scan to check her hip thoroughly.
  7. @Mummy twinkle toes sorry to hear that. My dd tried last year for yr 7 and wasn't successful with funding. It was picked up last year by physio that she was hypermobile (though we were already aware). Shes been working with a sports physio as part of the CAT scheme and they've been a massive help. We now know she' extremely flexible but tight over her hips so she had learned to compensate for this.
  8. @margarite there was 32 kids auditioning yesterday! The school have already been in touch early this morning and offered a place to my dd (though I know majority of kids get offered a place). She'll be over the moon though she gets to go back next week for the funding audition.
  9. My dd had an absolute blast at Hammond yesterday. She got on really well with the other auditionees and thought she did well. She felt her solos went great though did comment it felt the day was very rushed. They'd squeezed lot into the group and didn't have time to do the tests on the afternoon. Fingers crossed they'll ring us with results as they said they might due to close date of the finals.
  10. Thankyou @MrsMoo2. We had a lovely day. Weather limited our outside time but my dd is in love with the beautiful place already. My friends ds attends the school already so we picked him up after school and spent sometime catching up. When we dropped him off at the boarding house we were invited in to meet the kids. They were all so lovely and put on a little showcase for us. So inspiring watching these kids that just live and breathe performing. They managed to persuade dd to show her dance and vocal solo and made her feel so great about herself. She's even more ready to audition now, they were all so lovely to her. Absolute credit to parents every single child in the house. I'll be spending the day having a look around the city again and searching for cafes to read in again. I found a book stall last year in the market so hoping to find some good reads there. My dd is the tiny one who will more than likely wearing her most comfortable mustard yellow hoodie.
  11. @MrsMoo2 my dd is so excited now. She's had her final private lesson today and her solo is looking great. She loves to sing so really looking forward to that part of the audition too. We're heading down early Monday so we can explore Chester as she never saw any of it last year. She's after a yr8 place so in all honesty we know places are like gold dust x
  12. Yeah it's an incredibly hard song. She tried it about eighteen months ago for an exam but it didn't work for her then. She tried it again a few weeks ago and it's just clicked into place and she understands how to act it now.
  13. That's one of the songs my dd has in her final choices so far. She loves it.
  14. My dd favourite thing is singing so she's still not decided on a song to sing. Currently the choices are down to three and she said she'll decide on the day 🙈 I'm not very good with music so my dd dance teacher has sorted all the music for us.
  15. I'm there with my dd. She auditioned last year and absolutely loved the school. We're not very hopeful as place are so hard to get but she's excited for a day at the school.

  17. Hannah Todd is based in the North East. She does some amazing photos. I'm certain I saw a deal on Facebook this week aswell.
  18. Is anyone doing the Hammond first round lower audition in March? I requested a later date due to my own health issues. I did want to change to an earlier date but my dd has been insistent I leave it as it'd be unlucky to change it. Last year we had finished all the first round auditions by Jan so it's feeling very strange leaving it so late.
  19. My dd had the same feedback on one of her Elmhurst JA reports. She is very tiny and especially in ballet didn't own the dance if that makes sense. Ballet always made her a little afraid so she never used to perform it out fully with personality. Technique was great but she looked younger performing than the other girls. It very hard to describe but hopefully makes sense?
  20. @RHowarth the Sunderland shop closed suddenly late last year. There's a dance shop in Newcastle Kickz. They are very good and seen to be incredibly thorough. Not sure if the name of the shop in hartlepool but friends recommend it though I haven't been in myself.
  21. @balletmummy the JA scheme in Sunderland hasn't extended. Is was discussed last year but they said not financially viable ☹ my dd and about 10 of her friends did the full three years and we'e told they could stay on for year 7. Suddenly in July we all got emails to say no yr 7 could continue and no extended scheme would be available.
  22. @NicolaP17 my dd has never wanted to try RB. She has friends who go and they find it very strict. My dd is a total livewire and probably not what they are looking for. My eldest dd probably would have thrived with them though as she is the complete opposite to my youngest.
  23. If she's associate for Elmhurst you can request feedback. It's very useful to have. We are unlucky that Elmhurst chose not to extend the JA to yr 7 as planned so we won't be eligible for any feedback this year 😟
  24. @NicolaP17 my dd was an associate last year when she auditioned so we did get feedback. They gave brilliant feedback and said her musicality and dance were great. However she is hypermobile and it went against her as they found fault with her muscle tone. She worked so hard this last year to improve her strength and still got a no this time round. My dd is just content that she gave 100% this time as nerves were clearly visible. I though she looked fab at the audition but there were kids who just seemed to have a little bit more spark if that makes sense.
  25. My dd had just looked at the new range of ivy park clothes that have just been released this week. Birthday list is getting longer..........
