  1. Hi My daughter has accepted a place on the CAT scheme at Northern Ballet, can anyone tell me what they do at the summer school, we start in a week and I don’t feel very prepared! Any tips would be gratefully received, or are there any other newbies starting!
  2. Does anyone have any thoughts about Swindon Contemporary CATS scheme? Auditions are approaching but wondering if with a wide age range (11-18) my 11 year old DD will be too young to have a chance. Are the auditions very competitive or is potential considered? Thank you for any insight.
  3. Hi ive been lurking for a while but finally decided to post! Does anyone have any experience of the Cat scheme in birmingham.Dd is auditioning for it and i know that it is contempory with ballet too but wondered about the standard and quality of the teaching? Any help would be great thanks!
  4. Can anyone advise what to expect from the parental interview in the final audition for the CAT scheme please?
  5. Does anyone have any knowledge of the CAT scheme at Newcastle. Both my DD are auditioning this weekend, they attended a taster day and loved it. There'd limited information online though about hours required, class sizes etc.
  6. Hi, just wondering if anyone knows how many children they take into the first year of the CAT scheme? Thanks
  7. Hi all, I was just wondering whether anybody has any information about the CAT at the Lowry in Manchester? My teacher has got lots of people onto it, but I don't really know much about it. It seems primarily contemporary? I am classical. Is there lots of ballet too? I haven't found any threads about it so I thought it may be useful for others too
  8. Hello all, I know there are other threads here and there with info on about the schemes but I'm posting to ask for as much info as possible on anything and everything to do with these schemes as I don't know anything about them at all really, an before googling I wanted to seek advice from people who may have first hand experience! I just want to know everything really, especially for the contemporary at the Birmingham centre, what hours are involved, are the classes held in the same place each week, do all the different age groups train together, what exactly do they do? What are the performance opportunities like, costs involved, is everyone funded or do you audition for funding as with vocational schools, do you have to reaudition every year? Just basically anything you wish you had known before starting. I know there's a lot to take in there lol but thank you for any advice offered
  9. I was wondering if anyone had experience of the CAT programme in Leeds? DD is still waiting on first round results that should've been out by Friday 13th! Don't know if it's a bad sign she hasn't heard yet?! I think the second round is finals for associates and second round CAT. If she gets to this stage what is expected in the audition? Then there's a final 2 day intensive in April. Does anyone know what happens at this stage and if there is a certain 'type' Northern are looking for? Also, is there anyone out there who has been part of the programme or has a DD or DS there than can give me any feedback about the course? If DD gets to this stage, fingers crossed, is it a good option in comparison to vocational school?
  10. I'm having a bit of a moment where I'm considering the concerns I have about dd's CAT scheme She absolutely loves it. It's a mix of ballet and contemporary. My worry is that if we prioritise the CAT over everything else she might miss opportunities to do things that I think are valuable. Recently she had a chance to compete with her own choreography and gain feedback. Doing any more of this would require time off from the CAT Doing things within musical theatre also means time off. We aren't doing these things for this reason but it does make me question how we are likely to prioritise things over the coming years. We just can't fit everything in and as the CAT hours increase I worry that it might not be the best option for getting into college or finding work later if it's all contemporary with a bit of ballet at the expense of other things. The CAT manager says they are about "making art" but I'm thinking that this is fine and great as long as children are developing during their time there in the broadest possible ways. Anyone else been in this position?
  11. Does anyone have any experience of this - my DD was thinking of applying.
  12. Does anyone have any experience of this scheme? My DD has been offered a place from September.
