My DC wasn’t flexible at that age and has worked on it safely and slowly over the years and is now more flexible and stronger than her peers who were more flexible when younger. Flexibility is only one element of what a dancer needs and something like Pilates or PBT and strength training would perhaps be more beneficial in the long run. My DC had three vocational school offers for Year 7 without being fully in all three splits. Advice from teachers is best as they will know what she needs.

We knew of Saturday phone calls last year so fingers crossed for good news.

YDA performance: useful for prospective parents
junedancer replied to Swanwings's topic in Doing Dance
Thank you - the problem appeared to be the UCL web site - I contacted YDA who were unfortunately unable to help. It’s a pity they missed it. Hope it went well. -
YDA performance: useful for prospective parents

I recommended this to a friend but they can’t seem to get tickets - looks like the UCL site is down. Do you know if it’s sold out? I didn’t want to suggest they travel into London to try the box office to find there are no tickets. Too late for this afternoon but if they leave now they can make 5.30pm. Not sure you can help. I am assuming you may have a DC taking part and at the theatre to enquire. Thank you. 🙏🏻 -
Thank you - this is what we thought but the comment definitely said they didn’t have any MDS to give out. My friend thinks it said “one year” but wasn’t sure if it meant this year or a previous year. As DC knows of MDS being offered to friends in each of the last seven years I was concerned it meant this year. On checking back posts in other threads this comment may refer to the DaDA but the few years this impacted the school apparently used bursary funds to bridge this until they had DaDA restored.

I was going to ask this question on the closed RBS thread and now can’t recall who posted it. Someone noted that Tring don’t have MDS available this year or did I get this wrong? A few years ago they lost DaDAs due to missing the reapplication deadline (or something like that) but they offered them again for a number of years. They rarely offer MDS to 6th Form but I thought they always had a limited number for lower years. We have a friend whose DC is auditioning (today I think) and they wouldn’t have gone if they knew there was no possibility of funding.

Looking for SCS tickets or anything reasonable priced. Fingers crossed.

£25 seats are available on TodayTix if anyone is still looking -
Canvas flats will wash - just take care with drying - I insert an old tea towel to get them into shape and dry naturally. I once put them on the washing line and they shrunk as it was a sunny day. 😭

Junior group used to do one dance but there is lots of teaching with a class each day. They may have made changes to the format. I am feeling in the dark with regards the new format as I am sure other are, unless I have missed something. I am assuming that there are changes as I understood they started looking at this in 2019.

Congratulations, our recall is for McOnie. This was for Group 3.

NYB results are out. Does anyone understand what the relevance of the audition groups are? If I recall they were previously age based but this seems to relate to a choreographer.

Have you looked at the RAD uniform ones? They have some lovely colours and are flattering but have adequate cover.

Royal Ballet School Summer Intensive applications 2022
junedancer replied to MissEmily's topic in Doing Dance
If the like someone they will ask to see them regardless of whether or not you tick the box. We know someone who was asked after the course if they wished to be considered and was offered an audition but decided against it.- 333 replies

Getting back to the results from Central. They are still taking applications so I would expect a large number of wait list places while they continue to review applications.

Royal Ballet School Summer Intensive applications 2022

Can’t recall if DC was in the youngest group the first time they went but think it was Year 6 and there was a large proportion of overseas dancers.- 333 replies
