  1. We shall try and be there for 8.30am but I don't think the classes start until 9. Does anyone know why we have to out early? Usually they finish at 4 ish?
  2. It is a much expected no for us - onwards and upwards!
  3. No news from DD yet so not sure what group she is in. I usually get a call the night before I go and pick her up
  4. Yes it has always been cold at night at Tring hence why I pack an extra blanket, we quickly found that out first time around. During the day it is usually very warm and the girls have the windows open. The helpers/house mothers are always fab and they do have extra things to hand if the children need them they just have to ask. Onesie to bed if she has one maybe? I'm surprised they don't have ballet every day? It might be on the Wednesday when the day is a little shorter due to the trip? They often have a lot of MT prior to the trip and invite someone in from the show on the Wednesday morning who is x-Tring and go through one of the routines/songs. The week is usually well thought out and inspiring for the DC!
  5. We are on the waiting list should hear next Thursday either way so I'll keep you in touch just in case something lovely happens!
  6. The younger girls often do rep in their character skirts. It was fabulous last year!
  7. Amazing performance last night! I'm sure there are some very tired little DC still tucked up in bed, mine is still ....zzzzzZZZ! Lildancer your DD is such a beautiful dancer, I had a little tear in my eye when she held that lovely arabesque at the end!
  8. All the teachers at OPES are amazing and so caring. Olivia and her very experienced team will no doubt ensure you are placed correctly into group according to your ability. I don't find this course any more expensive than the others that have been posted as the numbers are kept low to ensure they are able to progress each student. We have experienced holiday schools where 25/30 in a group are the norm. I think the phrase 'you get what you pay for' comes into mind! We have only known these teachers for a year and I can honestly say if you want your DC to progress then you are in safe hands with all of them!
  9. DD has been for the last two years and she has needed her character shoes every time. Very pleased there is no tap this year as DD doesn't do it in her local school and we have to buy shoes just for this week! ) TIP - We always take a second blanket to tuck underneath the sheet as the beds are a bit unforgiving and a double duvet as the single ones always slip off!! it is a wonderful week for the girls though and the teaching is fantastic! Warning though they will come back totally shattered and won't speak to you for at least 24 hours! After that it is chatter non stop about how amazing the week was.
  10. I hope so pictures I have no idea how DD will take it when I see her tonight! Ugh the joys of Motherhood!
  11. congrats to your DD that is fab news!!
  12. We are also on the waiting list hope it isn't too long!!
  13. Only two more Sundays left for rehearsals can't wait for the show it is going to be amazing.!!
  14. DD will be very pleased - see you there
  15. We had the same it is just an awful feeling. No funding no Tring! We are very disappointed as well! Apparently the list is about 12/14 and you never find out where you stand. Do you have any reason/idea why your DD might have got on the waiting list?
  16. Waiting list for us not sure what to make of this result? Do DC on waiting list ever get in? DD will be upset oh dear!!
  17. Interesting they didn't give the best role to the best dancer!!
  18. I'm sure we will hear by Monday latest as next week is half term!
  19. My DDs audition was cut short by half an hour. I think they must know very quickly what they are after. She did love it though and thought JJ was great! We were expecting it to be daunting like Elmhurst but it was very relaxed and enjoyable.
  20. Nope we are still waiting. Finals are the end of February so they can't keep us waiting much longer!
  21. Good luck on your journey, to make three finals is great news
  22. welcome Pirouette26, great news for your DD! Are you looking at Year 7?
  23. That is what I do for all our little ballerinas
  24. I work within a GP Surgery and you should not be paying these high prices unless you are requiring a full medical report which I cannot believe is necessary unless you have a complicated history. You should visit their websites (which they must all have) and look at their fees which should be published. If you ask for a fitness to attend certificate it should be about £40/£50 no more. If they are saying £200 then this is unreasonable. If they are quoting a high price then it is worth writing a letter to the Senior Partner or the Practice Manager to request a reduction. I always reconsider fees if a letter lands on my desk and it is for a child. I would give them plenty of notice though as it usually has to be squeezed into a very busy day.
