  1. We are also considering OPES as we have know The Pickfords and The Parkers are excellent teachers and will really challenge DD.
  2. We have a lovely pair of Wear Moi ones but they are quite pink!
  3. so does mine. I think you have to be tinsy winsy for these not to pull on your tummy.
  4. Thank you both, DD will be looking out for your DD Angel. I think she was looking forwards to seeing her more than the audition itself. PITF DD is auditioning first thing tomorrow. She is quite small but athletic. Lets hope this one goes well!
  5. I think you have to do what you have to do. I don't think you will ever stop those type of parents who over push their children. Tring handled it very well on Monday as they didn't give children time to strut there stuff as you were not allowed to arrive before a certain time and then got whisked off very quickly for a talk. However I felt so nervous for my DD on Tuesday at Elmhurst I wanted to stretch myself!!
  6. Ah no that was angels daughter she is stunning. DD was number 10 who was behind angels daughter in a similar colour leotard. She is very small compared to angel's daughter, quite slim but muscular looking. Number 18 was in a dusky pink leotard and had a lovely floaty style and great posture. I noticed the more experienced girls on the hop all looked towards the panel and then on the step followed their arms. DD had great height but didn't engage with the panel. Apparently my fault as I was watching her! Was your daughter quite petite?
  7. The girls from HK were very lovely and afterwards DD was wishing them good luck for their RBS auditions later on that week. DD is so good at chatting to other girls After speaking with DD on the train she said it made her so so nervous when she saw the HK girls warming up as they were spinning around like spinning tops and doing over splits. I think at their age these things are impressive to DD and the nerves just kicked in too much. DD certainly has her own qualities and I agree with Angel that the HK girls did not particularly stand out in the exercise we watched although the little one was very good. DD did say they were very good in the audition although for me Angel your DD is lovely and so was number 18. Sarahw I'm not sure who your DC was? We had a tour of the building and deputy head was very nice although for me the building was deathly quiet. Tring on the other hand was super buzzing! Interestingly I asked the deputy head why they did not have the same numbers each year and it was do with them not finding the right candidates. They are apparently short in year 8 not sure if this ties in with what has been said about placements in the past posts?
  8. So Elmhurst is now complete just waiting on the results which should be 7 - 10 days - lovely to see Angel. DD found this audition very tough not so much what she was asked to do but the level of girls attending. I suspect this one will have to go down as good experience - at least she was stretching like there was no tomorrow when she got home! As I am not a teacher and one thing I find hard to comprehend is how they tell the girls who have potential and those who are already on their game. There were a large group of lovely girls from abroad attending DD's audition who were studying RAD Grade 6 - 8 and were doing fantastic quadruple pirouettes (and were like rubber band flexible) before they even went in. DD couldn't take her eyes off of them. DD has only just done one lesson of grade 5 RAD and can just about do 1 1/2 turns. (BTW their teacher was saying to all the girls before they went in - 'don't forget to crack your hips!' Is this some sort of teacher's term for max. stretching of hip turn out? Her confidence took a huge bashing and when she came out she said she felt like she was either going to be sick or pass out. I told her just always remember to smile but she that is very difficult when you feel very intimidated The Hammond is next and DD loved the Open Day so fingers crossed for this one.
  9. Tring audition is now behind us and according to DD it went as well as it could. Lots of very lovely children from the senior school looking after the children. A very good stay at The Bell in Aston Clinton which is about 2 miles out of Tring and also lovely food. Taxi was very late picking us up in the morning (25 minutes late) so a very good lesson to book even earlier and just get there mega early. Elmhurst tomorrow a bit less nervous now the first one is out the way!
  10. Off to Tring tomorrow and Elmhurst on Tuesday I am soooo nervous for DD!!
  11. Our experience of MTB has been nothing but positive plus we have met some lovely people along the way! They are also very supportive of outside dancing commitments including helping with preparation of photographs for vocational and summer schools.
  12. So do we amber21 good luck to your DD and see you there hopefully for a coffee!
  13. MTB is just a great experience for young dancers and the teaching is fantastic. I think MTB was the turning point for my DD. They get a comprehensive ballet class at the beginning of each session then they start learning the dances. DD is just about to start auditions for vocational schools and if by the some lucky chance she gets in DD will miss MTB very much.
  14. Is anyone going to Elmhurst or Tring next week? Our house is starting to get very sparky!!
  15. DD will still be 11 in the summer but she has been away before and will no doubt love it. She knows all the teachers from MTB who are lovely but also importantly great teachers.
  16. DD wants to do OPES this year. We were at DanceXchange yesterday and the Pickfords Classes were great x
  17. Hi toomuchtalent that would be lovely although I'll be so so nervous for her! I've noticed you are doing Elmhurst are you also applying for Tring and Hammond? We are at Tring on the 13th (and Feb 4th), Elmhurst on the 14th, Hammond on the 20th and RBS on the 26th.
  18. Yes we had ours about 2 days before Xmas. Our class is at 3.30pm so not a great time for DD as she tends to flag mid afternoon hopefully the nerves will be buzzing. The lady said to me that if you live far away she will try and put your audition later in the afternoon as she is aware that some trains are infrequent on Sundays.
  19. Hope everyone is having a fabulous Christmas, DD loved her ballet barre so all boxes merrily ticked! xx
  20. We are hoping the Pickfords might be doing something in January! Lots of stretching for DD as five auditions in three weeks in January.
  21. I think it is called a 'turnboard'. They are very popular in the States not so much over here. I thought about buying one as it was featured in 'first position' but decided against it as I thought DD would break something!! Private ballet lessons are like fairy dust where we live but you could try RAD HQ.
  22. Although it will not be popular with the men of the house have just found out that both Sleeping Beauty and Don Q are on the Beeb on Christmas Day! Yeah!!
  23. I hope so too I thought the same thing!
