  1. We have this one too and the lines are very flattering.
  2. I would definitely get advice from your GP especially if they know it is your career. If they can't help ask to be referred.
  3. Have you tried wearmoi, we love these leotards and often come with front panels.
  4. I totally agree with you T4Ballet. For us all ballet stops at the beginning of December which is usually fine and a nice break. This year though we have three auditions in January.
  5. For arabesque en l'air which is tricky for a grade 4 are they looking for turnout more than height. Clearly these DC are not the finished article. DD can get leg nicely raised, back supported but turnout suffers. Does anyone have any suggestions?
  6. I agree with you but not sure how to do that maybe I should have started a new one?
  7. It doesn't say but last year we just emailed LJ Lavender and she emailed the forms I sent them back with payment and she sent email confirmation. The best one was the MA Insight Day held in Birmingham although the teacher was quite strict.
  8. or how about those who just cannot afford to be a ballet dancer
  9. Check out RBS outreach section a number of insight days have been announced, we are hoping to apply for the audition one. If she was one year older (12) the masterclasses look great!
  10. I have also seen this documentary, DD wanted it for her Easter pressie so we ordered it from the US on Amazon. After purchasing it I then read an article about it and thought oops this isn't for DD. We watched it together in the end and DD didn't like it. She thought it was quite sad and uninspiring. I completely agreed with her but the documentary is certainly worth a peek! I believe the boy from South America graduated from RBS US and now has a contract with ENB. Miko has moved to Europe and does all the usual high profile competitions - not sure the others.
  11. I'd like to think it must be better for any child of any size to be up and doing something rather than sitting on the sofa scoffing crisps watching rubbish telly! We have several larger girls in our school and they are very lovely dancers and amazingly light on their feet. They will never make it in the competitive world of dance and probably don't want to but at least they are trying to be active and will at least have a stronger heart and lungs. Hopefully it will be an interesting watch and not cringeworthy.
  12. Who takes the classes is it Mary Schon? DD auditioned two years ago but didn't get in. DD was very disappointed at the time but to be honest looking at where she is now I'm not surprised as she has come on leaps and bounds since going to Midland Theatre Ballet and RAD Associates. These extra commitments are exhausting but it does make a huge difference as they have to dance at the top of their game all the time.
  13. Does anyone know whether any of the children who did the late auditions in June at EH secure a place?
  14. Thank you D2003 we shall go bare! Small details but could mean the difference of getting a yes to audition or not! BTW I have spoken with EH and I don't think the form will be out until at least the end of next week or early the week after. We are still awaiting audition dates from Tring.
  15. The application form for Elmhurst isn't out yet but I was wondering whether anyone knew if the photographs for Tring are in bare feet? I've had a look at RBS and they are bare footed but different photos are required. To bare or not to bare!
  16. No sorry it isn't going to happen I have already asked. Apparently the full time students are finishing later than usual so no Christmas show. Shame as it really is just wonderful.
  17. Yes indeed keep quiet! My recent experience of speaking to various organisations is that they often don't know their left hand from their right. It is people from this forum who have been the most helpful and encouraging.
  18. DD is applying for year 8 but we are going to wait for January as she has the school dance show in November and that is always very tiring for them. I don't believe it matters which one you go to as they apparently make copious notes. Best of luck to her DD loved the Junior SS.
  19. It does seem very unfair. I think they have the whole system completely wrong. I just want to make sure I can afford it before she goes to audition as that would be just so unfair on her.
  20. Sorry to open up this thread, I have tried to read as many of the posts I can but I haven't quite been able to find out what I am looking for. It refers to MDS and the questions they ask you with regards to income. Has anyone seen the forms from various vocational schools and whether they ask you the same questions. My dd's Dad and I live separately so I expect they ask for my income plus maintenance from DD dad. However if I live with someone else and am not married does that count towards income. The guidance on the DepEd section on MDS is very poor.
  21. I thought the new work was absolutely spot on and suitably challenging for children of this age group. I like the honesty at the beginning where Lynn Wallis admits they still are working to catch up with increasing expectations of the dance world. I do think that those pupils who don't wish to take the exams or find it a bit of a stretch can still follow the work and enjoy the love of dance without the stress of exams.
  22. Apparently the form is coming out for the end of next week and is much shorter.
  23. Does anyone roughly know how many girls they take into year 7 and how many apply?
  24. Ooo forgot about that is it this week or next? Is your DC in the older groups. DD is in the B group so I take it the younger ones will just appear in groups rather than being singled out?
  25. MTB is back this Sunday after a summer break, DD very excited as her ballet teacher is watching.
