  1. got ours in the post today. Not told DD yet as she is away.
  2. did you have to call up the school Karen or was it posted to you?
  3. They have supper at about 6pm after a tour and a chat.
  4. My view on exams is that they help get you the interview/audition then the job/school place is purely down to how well you perform on the day and more importantly IMO whether they feel you are the right person for them.
  5. Did you DD do her exam with my DD on that very hot day?
  6. yes my DD is there this week and is having a lovely time.
  7. Waited three months then had to cancel order. I agree with the above if you call them first and check that items are in stock delivery is usually good. I do think there are better suppliers out there though!
  8. We tried everything in the book and in the end we threw ours away and bought Bloch.
  9. Do you mean live link or recorded? If it is a recorded DVD you have to follow the format outlined in the audition material provided on their websites and be of a good quality. Elmhurst and RBS usually accept this for the first round but they like to see you for finals. If you are paying full fees Tring and Hammond may accept you just on a video audition. If you are wanting to apply for funding you will have to attend finals/funding audition I believe but others may know differently.
  10. We have also used these two companies and they are very safe!
  11. thank you for the heads up
  12. DD is doing her Intermediate tomorrow, quite nervous as this is the first time she has done an exam away from her school. Also no idea who the examiner is!
  13. DD thought the teaching last year was excellent. The classes were not as big as they were at Easter probably due to different half term dates maybe?
  14. I know I wanted to buy it for my DD as it was my fav book as a child but it is so expensive to get a secondhand copy!
  15. What lovely news congrats on getting your place, Ballet West looks fab!
  16. Also character skirts although I'm sure they don't specify these as they did lots of character when DD went a few years ago!
  17. Fast forward three years Angel, you yet may benefit!
  18. Sometimes it just takes a different eye that sees something others cannot! Fab news well done and let us know all about your experience!
  19. Yes I agree the whole competition had some serious flaws but hopefully they will tweak it for 2017, we should all write in! In the end however it was a joy to see such talented dancers but the BBC needs to up their game to give the dancers a better platform.
  20. I agree with you Harwel Connor's duet was beautiful and my favourite dance of the evening, in fact I had Jacob down to win until I saw it performed and it changed my mind. It was hard to pick a winner though I had it down to either Connor or Vidya but they all really stepped up for the grand final. I hope the BBC do it again next year but with more gusto to keep up the pace. I would love to see two age groups, male/female split and classical and contemporary chunked together with a new dance category like Stage to celebrate the Uk's fabulous MT/Jazz/Tap. It needs to be outside of exam time so more enter, have a better prize structure, and absolutely no US style modern gymnastics or 12 year old girls en pointe doing DQ, we see enough of that on BGT, YAGP and SYTYCD UGH!! It was a fabulous watch though despite the fluffed ending
  21. I completely agree with you after months of looking forwards to this last night we only got 35 minutes of dance and 25 minutes of waffle. When so little classical dance or contemporary is on the non 'Sky' channels I was very disappointed. I know we can watch on catch up but it is not the same and doesn't give the dancers enough exposure so we can see all their dances. This is surely a rare programme for lovers of dance, there are millions of us surely and then we have to put up all the cooking and house hunting programmes we get stuffed at us - grrrrrr!! Archie was just superb and IMO the most outstanding dancer last night, showing just how good ENBS teaching is. Jenny was lovely and did very well not coming from the big schools and I felt she could have snatched a wild card along with the last girl from the Indian Dance finals although Connor was fabulous. I wonder how these dancers were put forward, by themselves or as the best in their schools? If these students were the best from the schools I wonder how successful they would be at The Prix as we see so little input from the UK?
