  1. Laine is very good we live quite near to the school and my DDs used to go there . Younger dd is thinking of going back there in sep especially for the jazz . I Agree with Huddsballetmum if u love dance there r other options. 2 yrs ago my dd only loved ballet but now she wants to do more jazz and modern. Things change especially when you are young my dd is also feeling very confused like you SP at the moment she is having a break from dance and next week we will be on hols. Good luck and follow your heart SP. x
  2. SP I would carry on with what u love but second what others have said and look into other schools all MT schools will do ballet. My eldest dd who has given up her full time training knew that it wasn't for her anymore even though at 15 her only dream was ballet, we were shocked when she told us but she found the stress of it all too much and now isn't dancing at all !! I must of seen u at BTUK summer sch performance as was watching dd2 who was going full time to BTUK in sep but realised she was too homesick after 2 days she also felt that at 16 it wasn't right for her and she wants to do her A levels but carry on dancing. Like you she isn't sure what path to take. Have u asked any of your dance teachers what they think ?? Good luck and enjoy whatever you do u sound very mature.
  3. Yes it's so hard for them ,and also other parents that don't have DC would say why are u letting her do it ! Good luck to your DD taxi4ballet and other DC that dance after school.
  4. My DD 2 started ballet late she was 11 although had done competitive gymnastics before. She first of all went to local ballet Schools and really just for fun. Then she started at London Russian as she said she wanted to be more serious about ballet ,she was far behind the students and wanted to catch up so instead of going most Evenings for 2 hrs after sch she went to two classes which was almost 4 hrs and with the travelling not getting home till almost 10 at night and then homework she was worn out and found it hard to concentrate at school so she went back to 2 hrs a night but even that is hard when you have GCSE work to do !!
  5. Begining to be glad that DD 1 has given up her training it seems like everyone wants to be dancer !! And also worrying already about DD 2 getting a job and she hasn't started her training yet !! I suppose you have to be positive and just let them follow their dream. Good luck to all This years graduates and let us know when they get offers so all us that are about to embark on the dance journey have some hope.
  6. We went to see Susan Robinsons sch show few weeks ago it was very good. Some of the older students were amazing and the children had lovely stage presence. The mum that invited us said that 2 of the pupils were going ENB sch, 1 Rambert and 1 to BTUK very impressive.
  7. EYB is lovely experience my DDs did Nutcracker about 5 yrs ago.I would say LCB is more difficult to get into especially as lots more DC apply at one time, my youngest DD was accepted for EYB and had only just started ballet ! But with LCB first time she got nowhere then 2 yrs later got through to casting but no further , on the casting day she said there was so much talent. EYB also has lovely dancers and the students that do main parts are very good and quite a few are from vocational schools. Both EYB and LCB are good experiences.
  8. I think all DC should be in something they must all be good at dancing because otherwise they wouldn't be at V sch. When my DD were at LRBS the full time students were in the show some more than others because they were the best but at least your DC would be In it.
  9. Tulip I will definitly watch Central next yr . The end dance was so good and different to any other shows we have seen. We did notice that some were in classical and others contempory but we enjoyed all of it and worth going to see.
  10. Just got back from Central show really enjoyed it , very versatile dancers did notice that some students were in lot more than others but perhaps other nights they change it around ? Tulip was your DD in it ?
  11. Yes I agree tomuchtallent but we havnt even got that many classical companies in England ! So that is why new graduates have to look at Europe perhaps they have more companies? But do agree that more British dancers need to be employed here
  12. Thanks so much Kat and Sarah it has been difficult for her and us me especially as I loved watching her dance especially as at LRBS she had been in some lovely shows. We now have to move on and support her she has been to Danceworks in Ldn couple of times and enjoyed it so will hopefully dance still as hobby . Other DD is very exited about BTUK so we still have exiting times ahead.
  13. When my DD first started her full time training at LRBS we were just happy that she could pursue her dream, but then when u start looking into how hard it is to actually get a decent ballet contract and also having to probably move to another country it is quite worrying . My DD decided to give up her training last month !! We were upset when she made the decision but its her life. We now just have to worry about what she will do next. DD2 is going to BTUK in sep we feel they are offering more Versatile dance training as she hasn't got perfect ballet body and before we heard about BTUK she was considering MT schools . We will let her go and hopefully it will be right place for her but we also know its a hard life out there. Good luck to all of your DC but you never know whats round the corner , lets face it as lots of u have said its hard in lots of professions to make it but at least they can say they tried.
  14. Best of luck for your daughter, and lovely that she has her first choice
  15. Also all musical theatre schools, London Russian,Tring and Hammond but not sure if you have to be 16 ?? I think even with the classical schools you can audition at 17? Someone here will know
  16. London Russian have a few older boys also one who started late I think about 16. If you ring them you could probably do class Evegny is the main teacher from Bolshoi like Primose said look at website. The boy on the photo regarding their next show is the one that started late! He is an amazing dancer . Good luck with your decisions
  17. Enjoyed reading the blog and videos are lovely. My DDs are doing Russian training and eldest also A level Russian she is having lots of help but it's a hard language. You mentioned Natalie Carter she is dancing at London Russian with my DDs she is a lovely dancer and I'm sure going to Bolshoi Academy was a great experience but I expect for some it wasn't and that is why they didn't continue with their training. Best of luck to Tala
  18. Glad it's all sorted out, LRBS are very generous normally and as far as I know they don't charge for audition classes. Hope your son enjoys himself.
  19. My Dds did EYB a few years back and they knew people that had decided not to be in it one girl dropped out and she had been offered a scholarship ! Sometimes people just want to audition for the experience so would think you are in with good chance.
  20. Well done to your DD Pastel I don't know how many audition for Central but I bet it's a lot. Good luck for finals .
  21. Brilliant post Natalie I can only second everything Natalie has said and for those of you that don't get offers at other ballet places give LRBS a call I know they are holding auditions in June, or you can normally take class with them. Good luck to all of you and as some of you know it is through this forum that we found LRBS so thanks again
  22. I know they have CRB checks because my eldest used to help out with classes and she had to have one. To be honest my two DDs have been there for 3 yrs and I trust all the staff.
  23. I asked my DDs who are doing Vaganova training they said the heel would have to be down in their classes. Must admit I thought young girl was lovely to watch and she is only 15 !
  24. I also don't understand it does it mean the lower you can do squats the better the turnout ?? I have an older daughter who isn't into ballet but spends loads of time in gym and she can do very low squats better than my two ballet girls.
