  1. Viagogo is not a ticket agency (like Ticketmaster), it is a secondary sale site; i.e. people who have already purchased tickets can put those tickets up for sale. It's not illegal to do this with ballet tickets in the UK, but such a resale would be in breach of the conditions of sale. People who buy ROH tickets in this way can rightfully be declined admission. I don't know why anyone thinks it would be illegal to do so.
  2. Interesting to note that of the 25 performances of SB, 6 are sold out (the first 6), 2 have fewer than 10 tickets left and 3 more have fewer than 100 tickets left. The remaining performances vary quite significantly in tickets sold. I'm not sure what to make of that!
  3. I would disagree with this. The "audience" that provides the most significant funding (in terms of actual amount) is very open minded and supportive of new (and wide based) choreographic projects.
  4. I would recommend taking them so that you can put them in if you feel uncomfortable. I have seen every performance of Multiverse (plus the rehearsal) and am certainly more comfortable (and, therefore, able to concentrate better) with the ear plugs in. The sound is certainly louder in the grand tier and balcony compared to the front row.
  5. On the basis of what I hear during part 1, I have renamed Multiverse as Disco Wayne. Explains the flashing coloured lights in part 3 too...
  6. Thanks Ian. That's what I was using to go through the MacMillan works. I don't think you've posted the right link for Ashton. For Ashton I was using the appendix to David Vaughan's book that lists all of Ashton's works and includes a reference to the first company to dance it (and who the dancers were).
  7. As Geraldine O'Dare is known to say in the wonderful musical Irene: "If it's printed in the papers then it's true." I stopped counting the MacMillan works when I got to 20 (given the time of day I was looking at these things). For Ashton, I think I got to 29, excluding diverts and pieces for the touring company, New Company and what is now BRB.
  8. I'm afraid that's not true. McGregor has created 17 pieces for RB (if you include collaborations such as Machina and Acis & Galatea). MacMillan and Ashton each created in advance of 20 pieces on the RB (not including pieces created for the touring section, the New Group or the SW Theatre Ballet).
  9. The UK (of which NI is a part) is not really a good example as (i) general elections are run on a full country wide basis, not state-by-state as in the U.S. and (ii) it's all in one time zone. I don't know know why you think the count doesn't start until Monday; general election counts are usually overnight (I know from experience, having attended one) and local and assembly counts start on the Friday.
  10. I would recommend having earplugs with you just in case. There are parts of the auditorium where the recording is quite loud (and each part builds to a climax) and others where the echo of the recording creates a ringing sound so if you are in one of those sections, you might be more comfortable with earplugs in. I sat in the front row of the balcony for the rehearsal and only felt unfortable at the very end of each of section 1 and 2 and in the front row stalls for the first night where I could hear the ringing echo. My earplugs stayed in my pocket both times but I'll be wearing them next time I'm in the front row.
  11. Try the one on the Aldwych; still pretty handy, about 5 minutes walk.
  12. Assuming you mean the layman's definition of "incompetent" rather than the legal meaning (i.e. unable to carry out the duties of the office by virtue of illness), then no. And in the case of legal incompetence, the VP and half the cabinet need to certify that the POTUS is unable to carry out his duties.
  13. I disagree with almost every single word of this post.
  14. What about inviting people into the building who might be curious about it, and may end up attending a performance?
  15. There will be a new "flexible" combined box office and cloakroom where the box office and cloakroom used to be. There will also be a new cloakroom at amphi level.
  16. My understanding (having not visited either facility...) is that there are 50% more in the new ones.
  17. Well, yes; it would be very difficult to comment in 1974 on something that didn't come into being until after then. Having said that, the overall structure of the 3 act piece and the vast majority of the choreography remains unchanged and so I would say that her comments remain valid.
